It has been said that CM has changed, even "ruined" and there have been many comments that CM has become more mainstream and less tolerant of the more experienced couples/individuals.

I don't find it 'ruined'.  I haven't seen any change at all.  Some people (when they reach a certain time of their life) will always hark back to the 'good ole days' - which in reality were never any better, just a different time.  I don't know how it's become less tollerant to couples because we have never had that experience - and as for experience well, I don't take experience as anything other than inportant to the individual who considers themselves as having more experienced.  Every day is new and shiny, I don't assume it's going to be better because I have had experience of the day before. One day I expect I'll get to the point of life where I will reminisce and I'll take that as it comes.

quote:

I'd like to ask all of you, what is CM to you? Do you think it has changed? It that change for the better or worse? What would you like to see differently? What do YOU do to resolve conflicts and make CM a place for the accepting and open exchange of ideas for everyone?

Nothing really.  People come and people go.  It's no biggy.  Things change to the extent that new people arrive, but that's always happened and then they become the 'experienced' people.  The mantle (as it were) is always passed on.  That's nothing new or a great change.  It will always be like this... people look back and say that what came before was always better.  Whether thats Leo on Gor or XI moderating, and in a few years... it will be hollys meatloaf and Lance in his underpants (I know I prefere Lance, but no offence holls).
Older posters reminisce about the good old days of how it was and those that can't move on won't and they leave - it's not such a big thing.  I have been here when it was One and Trey and when erin and sub4hire and proud posted with regularity and I remember when Lucky was Emerald.  When people leave - and it happens in a kind of ritual - there is a shift in balance and an acting out and then it settles down again.  I've seen it happen time and again and I have posted about it time and again.

Resolving conflicts... meh.  I don't.  I always believe that people argue over a subject and are adult enough to not take it as a personal thing - because I don't take things personally 99.9% of the time.  I disagree with my friends just as much as I disagree with people I don't know because it's the subject that's being debated, not a person.  I always miss some people when they decide to go, but I make friends with more AND keep in contact with those that might leave.  CM isn't the be and end all even if I like reading here and taking part and I don't believe that just knowing someone on here and having them on our friends list makes them a 'friend' - it takes far more than that.  I'm having a fab time getting to know someone who posts here at the moment and shes rocking (I'm not gonna name names coz if she wanted to stand up and say she will) and I do believe friendships are important but they sometimes come and go.  Ah well.  That's life.

I think it should be something about your propensity to cut people up to fit them in your luggage, as a warning to others!

Now, Laurell.. I never said I was going to cut anyone up! I said I was researching on which bones to break to fit someone in a carry on and if you know the airlines, the carry-on's just aren't that big so you have to be careful so you get maximum fitage with minimum breakage!

If what you say is true, Bita, then Sadistic Contortionist might be more apt...

I'd like to ask all of you, what is CM to you?

A place to meet and talk to some incredibly hot, intelligent, funny, insightful, helpful, compassionate, and principled people. And what turns them on.

A place to observe some intolerant, bigoted, meanspirited, narrowminded and hypocritical people.

I hope the former is always in the majority.

Oh, and the women have great boobage.
Even Holly.

That is just the way sunshinemiss writes. It is not required to be cutesie wootsie, there has already been someone here on this thread that just said something in here only. If you dont ask, I dont know. There is nothing in the rule book that says cutesie wootsie.

VAA, I am wondering if you would please explain what this bolded bit means?

Surely. I just meant that the only place they asked was in this thread and they were not cutesie wootsie, and still got what they asked for.

It's not, that poster just said they would not do it to get what they wanted, and I said that was not necessary.

*waves at VAA*

CM is, to me, a place to hang out and unwind. It is also a place where I have been fortunate enough to meet some absolutely fabulous people, offline as well.
