Brain -> Top secret files on Afghanistan war reveal hundreds of unreported civilian deaths (7/25/2010 10:03:35 PM)

I am surprised the White House is enraged, not that they keep these secrets deliberately, and I want to know who is enraged. It is very stupid to reveal they are enraged. What right do they have to keep this secret from the public? National security my ass! Maybe keeping this information secret should be a criminal offence since people are dying? What should be the punishment?

Top secret files on Afghanistan war reveal hundreds of unreported civilian deaths

A massive file of secret military documents revealing chilling details of the Afghanistan war and civilian deaths was last night leaked.

In one of the biggest leaks in military history, 90,000 records of incidents and intelligence about the conflict were passed to whistle-blowing website Wikileaks.

And in a disclosure which has enraged the White House, the website has handed the files over in full to three newspapers.

Quoting the dailymail is rarely sensible. This story is actually true though....guess they were bound to get one right eventually.

Saw one of the people who's been going through the documents interviewed, said there really are a few that shouldn't be (and they won't be) published for national security reasons...and a lot more that're just boring routine. Gonna be interesting seeing what the sift through reveals though.

Anyone who released these documents should be arrested for treason. It will put our troops in danger and hamper what our country is trying to accomplish..

Yes, we really should not be told the truth.

It might get us all upset.

What your country and it's allies are trying to accomplish is what exactly, the goal keeps changing, or is it simply a fact that this ill conveived war has become such a mess now that anything goes as long as it can be perceived as a victory.

Will the revelation of these previously with held documents really hamper operations and put lives in danger, aye, maybe, but not the lives many of thinking of, those in the theatre of war know their job, they know the risks, but what about the idiots in high places that have made bad judgements, perhaps it is not so much their lives that are at risk, but the livelihoods, for incompetance will be apparent.

But who in the Pentagon would have released these documents and why as it is more and more becoming a fact that the Penatagon is in the news, especially so with what is being found on government computers as the result of an investigation exposing criminality at work within the Pentagon.

LOL.   Wiki leaks.   I been there.  It is a cool site.  :-)

Sometimes breaches are planned as a mode to confuse the other side.  We may never know.

No we may never.

So many conspiracies, so little time to solve them all.

Keep working at it though.

Your efforts are deeply appreciated.

Where in the constitution does it say that it is the responsibility of the u.s. government to secure a pipeline rout through afghanistan for union oil.
What puts u.s. troops in danger is being there if they were home in america they would not be in any danger.
I am sure you still want to see daniel elsberg (pentagon papers) prosecuted for treason.

Our medical records won't even be as safe as these top secret files, under Obamacare.

Did you think it unjustifiable on September 12th, 2001?

You know that wasn't the reason.

While I think Bush did little right during his term in office I believe he made the correct decision here.

So when they do get reported and are determined to be the result of negligent actions we should just ignore them?

And you really believe this was the reason for it?

It had nothing to do with Mullah Omar or Bin-Laden's presence in Afghanistan?
