Aynne I clicked on the sight.....you have to love the "Purpose" category...they list : Recreational,Home protection...and Law Enforcement
Guess they figured it was self defeating to list all of the other purposes such a product is often used for.No sense emphasising the negative heh?

{fast reply}

Greetings all.....

I am just going to toss in a bit of musical something by a performer I like. If I had a source for the song being sung, I would include it but I don't and the lyrics are germane to the subject. I am also including her wiki page for all of those of you (which is almost all) who don't know her and what she believes. She is not what you think she is.

First about Leslie Fish: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leslie_Fish

Next the lyrics of one of her songs from her most recent album: http://www.lawfulpath.com/ref/jukes.shtml

Don't read anything into where the lyrics are located. That was just the first source I found using google.

Be well all....

Malkinius

Well done her. But seriously, that was incredibly close to her having her own gun used against her. Guns cause more problems than they solve. There's a good reason gun crime is so much lower in countries with proper gun laws.

gun control is hitting what you're aiming at.  good gun control is not needing to take the time to aim.  good for the victim!

Per the articles, the 2 guys had screwdrivers that they were using as weapons, so I don't really see the issue. A screwdriver through the neck, chest, or any major artery can kill you just as dead as a bullet, and will probably be much more painful in the process.

Good for her! These kinds of stories always make me feel warm and fuzzy inside and I always love to see more women carrying guns!
Aynne, that's an expensive gun! Go down to the Trading Post and pick yourself up a S&W Model 686 like I have for about $600-$700. I don't use it for carrying though, too big. My carry gun is a Glock model 27.

This is shitty and I wish it didn't have to happen, but I'd much rather that this woman did what she did and survived than have the criminals be successful. Even though this woman was protecting herself she still had to kill some one and while some on the sideline may cheer, I'm sure she is not at all happy about the situation. She may be glad to be alive but that is not the same thing.

Also the website linked to in the OP is not a trustworthy news site.

There is no shortage of gun crime in the UK as you know. The big difference is that its a level playing field in the USA. Here, we just dont get to defend ourselves against armed and violent criminals. We just get beaten raped and killed, or anything else the lowlife had in mind.

It is shameful of politicians to attempt to proscribe gun ownership, for in doing so, they deny people their human right to defend themselves, and their families. Fuck the state.

splorff -> RE: My kind of gun control (7/28/2010 3:27:19 AM)

KD I am in a forum where an American guy posted about a town in his state. The mayor ruled that every home owner had to own a gun. Those with criminal records or mental health issues were excluded.

The results do not support your views. Burglaries went down significantly, if I recall correctly it was a decrease of perhaps 40% Other decreases followed, for as you know burglary is sometimes accompanied by rape, beating, torture and homicide.

The crims choose screwdrivers because they can argue that they are really just leavers which they use to pry windows and doors. They surely would use them so. Also they use them as knives with which to kill and injure. They hope of course for a lenient liberal judge, who is surely going to see it their way.

I hope the other one has found the decency to die.

FR

They were in her house uninvited right ? One is dead and one is in jail right ?

That's enough for me. And I'll tell you this also, if people are stupid enough to let loaded guns out where their kids can get to them, and said kids do not know to keep their hands off said guns, fukum. There are some things more important than life itself.

You are God in your home. If you want someone to get the fuck out because they bought the wrong brand of beer and they do not leave when asked, shoot the motherfucker. If you want to give up that right, move to China.

Don't like me now ? Well it's probably not a good idea to stop over here then.

But I am dead serious. You leave when I say, and if you broke in I don't fucking care if you are Santa Claus.

So, in essence all I need to know is that the perps were in the house.

There are several news reports that talk about the boy friend coming out and starting an altercation with the two attackers.  At that point she got the gun out of her purse and opened fire.  If one of the two dummies had just grabbed her purse the story could have just as easily been woman and boyfriend killed with her gun.

GambitLeBeau -> RE: My kind of gun control (7/28/2010 6:04:26 AM)

Exactly flcouple.

And gun crime is a much smaller issue in the UK- we mainly worry about knife crime. I'm not saying there is none here- that'd be silly, but I'm sure it's far lower in proportion.

I'd roll out statistics, but I'm pretty sure Bowling for Columbine already did a bunch of that.

Jeffff -> RE: My kind of gun control (7/28/2010 6:10:04 AM)

You can not compare the societies.

The UK has had severely limited private ownership of fire arms for how long? The UK's history does not involve firearms any where near the US does.

Like it or not, fire arm ownership is a large part of our history. Restrictive owner ship laws are a relatively recent thing here.

It is simply not reasonable to assume you can get ALL the guns away from ALL the people who have them in the US.

To think otherwise is naive.

cloudboy -> RE: My kind of gun control (7/28/2010 6:24:32 AM)

The problem with violence is that its rarely directed at anyone who deserves it, and its a long shot that one can harness a tool of violence for that one perfect moment. Gun proponents in the US tend to be irrational; this thread strikes me the same as a gambler leaving Las Vegas with a million dollars.

Exactly.  I like my guns, I enjoy them and I'm not handing them over to anyone.

But at the same time I don't believe one should be able to walk into a store and buy a hand gun and a box of ammunition the same way you can a candy bar either.

About 12 years ago I had a play partner who worked in the Tampa area at a little call center doing phone sex.  One night things were a tad slow and  she was talking with a couple of her coworkers there about the gun she carried in her purse.  One thing after another she has taken it out and showing it off and then the big bang.  Somehow she discharged it.  The manager comes running in asking what happened as the girls all just sat there wild eyed and open mouthed telling him they didn't know.  If he had looked up the wall a bit he might have noticed the bullet hole.

She was a bright girl and that job was paying her college tab.  But common sense was not her strong point.  There are some who just shouldn't have things like a gun.
