It comes from alot of other sources as well. In the actual regulations of the FDA, USDA whatever, AMA journal entries and all kinds of published, possibly peer reviewed studies at univerisites and so forth. They are not making this shit up.

However some draw the conclusion that it is a conspiracy to kill us all, and I do not accept that. If part of their goal is to keep us sick, it is for money. When they "stabilize" milk they do it for money. Everything they do is for money. I am not saying that they care about us at all, but they should. But they don't, so what. I am more concerned with what we should be doing.

Now I got a question, if Al Gore invented the internet, how come US citizens get this type of news last ? Frankenfoods ? shit, this issue is at least five years old. I think more but that is a reasonable claim.

And just for the record, I read huffpo very rarely.

Once again, western civilization is the healthiest longest lived people ever. We live roughly twice as long as pre industrial people did. We've added several inches of average height over the last century as well.

IOW your premise is faulty.

Yeah we are so healthy. Boys are not being born as much as girls due to pollution they say. Same with fish btw. We have more childhood diabetes and obesity and depression than ever. Refined sugars and preservatives in food play a role to say the least. Most people are addicted to something whether healthy addictions or no. Our food is corrupted more than ever to the point they are/were trying to pass legislature that make organic seeds illegal. Most of the world is Third World. Yeah we are doing great... Want to come to dinner? I will feed you estrogen filled chicken inhumanely raised and killed. I will cook it in the microwave to be sure to kill off any nutrition possible. I will serve you GMO corn and strawberries sprayed with loads of chemicals that will feed right into your bloodstream while our Reptilian dominated brains will try and have a conversation about who is taller. You will make me nervous so I will have some anxiety medicine the doctor gave me while you pop some pill that will give you a four hour erection. Perhaps we could take the kayaks out on the Gulf for a spin. We wont really talk about our real feelings or anything deep because in this society it is not what we do. Rather we could watch tv shows that have such heightened emotional content but we wont even bat an eye. Blood, guts, murder, mayhem and scariness but we will calmly devour some snacks containing formeldahyde high fructose corn syrup what fun!!

To blithely say the upswing in cancer is simply because people are living longer is to hide your head in the sand. Every hospital I can think of in a 50 mile radius has added a "cancer center" in the last 15 years. I won't disagree that people are living longer, but I don't recall people in their 40's and 50's getting cancer in such numbers. Look around and see how many people you know who have been touched by it. TV commercials for cancer services, doesn't that speak volumes for the size of the target audience. Cancer is now a billion dollar industry. I reckon more people will make a living from cancer than die of cancer this year.
Genetically modified food. Not inherently bad. Yes it has helped to produce a "cheap, plentiful food source". That is good. But we sometimes do not understand the consequences. For example, celliac disease is human intolerance to modified wheat, hence the "gluten free" craze. Genetic modification can be used for good or evil. For instance, the seeds a farmer buys today are modified so that they are able to grow and bear fruit, but are unable to reproduce, the seeds are infertile, the plant is unable to proagate as natue intended. You may not find this disturbing, but I do.
Chemically modified food. I swear that scientists have isolated the part in cocaine that is addictive and it is present in diet Coke. I have some experience in addiction and in talking to people who drink 4-6 diet sodas a day, they're addicted. I'm rewarding myself, I can't have another until this time, I'm stressed, etc. And I believe that food manufactorers want us fat and hungry, in a cycle of the more we consume the more we want.
I remember talking to my vet about my cats weight. I asked him, " I remember being able to leave a bowl of dry food out and always filled, and my cats were never overweight." (My cats have always eaten only dry food.) He looked me straight in the eye and said, "Well, they like to sell cat food." Do you believe that that mindset could make the corporate transition to human consumption? I do. I'm old enough to have actually seen the TV commercials (I think for Dow) that promoted "better living through chemistry.'
Have you noticed that girls seem to be hitting puberty younger and younger? I think that it's the constant ingestion of growth hormones in milk. Talk to someone sometime who works on a large dairy operation. The cows get chemicals to make their feces a liquid, another chemical so they don't feel the cold in the winter, another to hasten their growth so they can start producing milk earlier. Where do all these chemicals end up. Our bloodstreams.
I could go on, but I'm late for my morning walk.

You're conflating a whole bunch of stuff.

Yes, cancer is more common now than in the past primarily because we live longer. We have the data that proves it.

Seeds being infertile. Very few of our traditional crops breed true from seed. That is the nature of hybridiziation. This was true long before GMO's.

Celiac disease is an autoimmune disease that makes a person intolerant of a specific protein in gluten. Whether the source grain is GMO is of zero consequence. As a matter of fact it should be possible to produce a GMO wheat that doesn't have the offending peptide chain ( a quick check shows that such wheat has been created and is in use but that the modification results in sub par bread).

You can easily enough find plenty of studies showing no chemical differences in milk between animals treated with growth hormones and those not treated. As to the rest, my uncle runs a dairy operation and I've never seen the cattle produce liquid feces and I've stepped in enough of it to know.

The term Frankenfoods is old by now.     It was not really big in the US like in EU.

it is frustrating that so much of the food product is junk.     maybe 3-5% is what I consider edible.

Sure you can consume some junk- but when you combine it all- that is when there is problems.

It is interesting to assess the cat food- cats.   We can learn from them. Typically a cat wont over eat. Not like a dog or person.

Not that there is an evil plot- but certainly the goal to maximize dollars at every turn.

It was easier to eat right - in the 80s.   Tho I am smarter now.

Look at the obese people at the store. I mean a good 1/2 of the shoppers are supersized.   and we are exporting this to the world.    of course they want to sell the most pills at the highest prices.
