Dragon, I agree, Collarme should charge $10 or $15 per month just to keep out a lot of the phoneys and tv's on the trol.
That way I wouldn't be getting 6-8 messages per week from "Ghana" from women wanting to "be your slave for life if you'll only send me $1,000 to relocate" and tv's who want me to tell them "what I'll do to them if they're naughty."
A monthly fee would keep out a lot of those assholes.

But Lockit, wouldn't you agree that sometimes people like to make it more difficult because it goes along with their thinking that everything about this must be "different" or "special"?

Cha-ching! Simplifying it would mean we're a lot like those other people.

LOL... so scammer's and fakes wouldn't pay to scam and fake their way to bigger things? Even scammers, fakes and liars must invest a lil something. Sure, some of the numbers might go down, but there shouldn't be any false assurances or safe feelings that we have been protected because the site charges to join. lol

I'm an adult, I can fend for myself and I don't need to be charged something so someone else can better my chances of meeting less bad guys. That would cut into my Star Bucks money and I still wouldn't be any safer. I'll sip my Star Bucks and take my chances. lol

PS... I love how everyone knows just how to run this site and yet, they have no site and no intentions of starting one. Kind of like someone never being a parent and telling parents how to parent. lol

Actually... I run 3 sites and assist on 2 Pay sites. Frankly even free sites can decrease the amount of Scammers, spammers and fakes. There is a plethera of software now devoted to doing just that. So No I do not think I can run it better than those running Collarme but Do have and made several suggestions of things to help improve the site. Because I enjoy the site and want to see it keep succeeding.

Please continue to enjoy your Starbucks (The Shasta cola of Coffee) it helps Washington states economy!

Katy, sure, you can ignore the obvious scammers but many of the tv's playing "girl" can be particularly sneaky and devious.
They prey upon people's hopes.
Oh, and what is it with those names "Tiffany" and "Stephanie" that seem to be so popular with the "size 14 high heels" set?

If people were reasonable and did not over-invest before getting to know people, much less before meeting them, there would not be such an issue of hope being ruined.  If someone sends me messages that do not meet my predetermined parameters, I simply choose to ignore it.

Hi everyone.

This is my first post after saying hello in "Introduce Yourself". I didn't find an appropriate forum so decided to put it in off topic. If there is any other forum better suited, please move it there.

I guess anybody on here has realised there are (sadly) quite a few profiles on CM that do not represent the real people behind them but are anything from fake to scammer. What do you experienced CMers do to find out the false ones early in communications?

I just found (silly me might have had THIS idea much earlier ;-) that real emails may help you to find out if - as in 2 cases for me - the sender of the emails is on a totally different continent (!) than they claim to be! I was in discussion with two "female subs" both claiming to be from the UK. Actually, a quick WHOIS search told me that the IP address noted as originating address in the email headers (view email source in your email client, will usually not be possible in web mail services), were actually registered with "The African Internet Numbers Registry" (org: ORG-AFNC1-RIPE). This means that, obviously, the "subs" are NOT in the UK as they claim but very probably somewhere in Africa.

Now my questions to YOU:
* Do you have any technical things or verification methods or tricks to find out if your new online aquaintance is real?
* Do you know of any sources on the internet that help you by providing technical help or info or other stuff to find out if you are talking to a real person, not a fake?
* What if you found out (for sure) that your aquaintance is obviously sailing under a false flag? Do you report the profile?

Cheers, Jo

Every person here is real. No person here is fake. There are liars, and there are scammers, and there are idiots. But they're still all real people.

As for the question you meant to ask, I find out if people are who they say they are by being observant during conversation.

Katy, me too but some of them have obviously invested a lot of time making up their phony profiles and pictures.

Yes but Human nature and instinct works the opposite and unless you are over analitical. Stop long enough to be analitical or have become a Vulcan, human nature is the rule. After all we are all still mammals and instinct no matter how suppressed plays a role in our functions in life. Daily and even on the impersonal internet.

You would at least respect the hours they said you couldn't call because of being asleep though right?

Cause I know for me, if we  were considering each other, even though I am a female and you're seeking males only most likely, if you called me say at 1 in the morning randomly as some kind of test, and I had told you, do not call after 10:30 I will be sleeping since I go to bed at 10:30 to be getting enough sleep for work, and you called me at 1 am randomly to just test to see who answered I'd be pissed lol.

That could be so, also you have to take into account that many of them could be sociopaths.
It would seem that "crossdressing" would be "attractive" to that kind of personality.

@DragonNphoenix:

* requesting a pic with my name written on the sub or a piece of paper (or as someone else suggests a local paper) - good idea. I have tried that, but how simple is it to fake that (i.e. find a suitable image on the web, edit in the required text on a board (easy to erase the previous text, I guess?

But of course you have a point: I have had cases where the aquaintance keeps claiming that a) the camera is broken b) no webcam on the pc c) no way to lend a camera for a shooting etc. pp.

* asking for a reference: I like that one much. A mentor or fellow BDSM follower/fellow sub to should be possible to find - except where the aquaintance has previously stated (may be even in the profile) that he/she is new to the lifestyle and has no experience yet.

* phone numbers: good point. I actually prefer asking for a phone number to pics or webcam for verification because it gives both parties some remaining privacy (you never know what some virtual aquaintance will do with your pics/vids).

Actually, I would well understand if a sub was reluctant to hand over pics early in the communication - she cannot know who I am (I might be a fake after all or what I might do with the pics. So, a phone call might be less risky for her, too.

The first one (getting them to write their name) would be near impossible to fake, if their name is written on something textured or contoured. I don't know anyone who can fake that, and I know some good image editors. Name across tits, for example. If it's anything but very low res, it should be proof indeed.

The reference one isn't good. I wouldn't be able to give a single reference, despite having been involved online and offline for 10+ years. Your assumptions of why that may be are probably incorrect, but I won't go into them here. I'm not a scammer or "fake".

You'd give your phone number before a photo? Hmmm. A phone number can be abused. Prank calls, abusive texts, reverse lookups, etc.

Do not recall Either Phoenix or myself saying we would give a phone number before a photo. Again we DID NOT say any of the examples would be right away. We also did not say or insist any other do what we do. Simply offered up suggestion for the original poster to toss about.Food for THOUGHT if you will. By the way an email address, Messenger contact, IP address even photos can be abused so that eliminates nearly everything everyone has suggested so.... We resort back to neaderthall and start clubbing people like baby seals and drag them to an interogation center instead??????

GOOD GRIEF!
