It's just hamburger and sometimes sausage and sometimes a raw egg all smooshed together into a bread pan and baked instead of fried... there's usually some kind of agent that holds it together - crackers or some such with egg - some spices, maybe some veggies - onion, pepper...  It's pretty good ... specially if my gramma cooked it!

*I suppose this would be a good time to say.... yes, I have heard that some people find hijacking annoying.  But then I'm not one of those people.  I find hijacking to be a natural part of conversation.  Why else would we even have the term "non sequiter"?  (Did I spell that right?)

Y'know, being English and all I've never been entirely sure what meatloaf actually *is*, but I've never quite dared to look it up in case I'm traumatised by the answer...

I agree. Very traumatic.

I think I imagined actual bread would be involved, in a hollowed-out-loaf sort of a way, but your description sounds pretty tasty [:)]

Thankyou for the explanation.

The OP has some points (not just the one on his head) but given his history of whining and contraryness (that can't be a word, can it?), it's hard to give him support.

I find it annoying people who complain about the message boards. If they bore you or you dont like them you could always go away

VC, meatloaf is indeed a tasty dish, but holly's version may be closer to an American version of haggis. [:)]

Which points do you agree with, Level?

ETA: and do you mean Holly sews up her meat in a sheep's stomach? Or that she uses offal in her meatloaf? :P

I agree that "side of the kneel" sounds moronic, and I don't like the poll thing. All I can figure is that when the board was created, it came with the poll function on each section, but when P & RS was added, CM was unable to remove the poll button from the other sections. Well, it makes far more sense to allow polls everywhere, IMO. Do away with the "Polls" part of P & RS.

I tend to use 'side of the kneel' because 'orientation' on its own is unclear (because it could also mean sexuality), 'kink orientation' makes people who don't regard themselves as kinksters feel trivialised and 'D/s orientation' is inaccurate for those who don't have D/s relationships-'side of the kneel' is the best catch-all I can find. Do you have a better one?

I think your theory about the poll function is probably right-I think I've seen the mods say it's a feature they got stuck with as part of the software. Do you think they add to a serious debate?

Level -> RE: Aspects/things i find annoying about this board (8/4/2010 4:13:11 AM)

You're probably over-thinking the whole "kneel" thang [:D] Honestly, I don't worry about it much (either people using such a term, or anyone feeling trivialised by the lack of said term), it's like the other kink/language examples, it won't kill me to see them, and I don't necessarily dislike some of the folks that use them, I just don't care for it.

I DO think a poll can contribute to a serious discussion. I made one in the Politics section, and it had a purpose, and thankfully, the Mods let it stay, as it pertained to that section. Again, nothing to go to war over, I love CM, all in all.

It's not like everytime I want to use the phrase I start agonising about word choice, it's just a handy neutral colloquialism for a concept I tend to use a lot [8D]

So if the mods can see a purpose behind a poll they let it stay where it is? Doesn't your example therefore prove that sm22's assertion is wrong?

I don't go into P&R, so I don't know the thread you're talking about, but I can't think of a thread I've seen myself where it was so hard to get a feel for any consensus from the posts themselves that a poll really contributed.

It was about abortion, and I thought that it would allow those that, for whatever reason, felt uneasy putting down an opinion in a post, could still contribute by making a poll selection.

VideoAdminAlpha -> RE: Aspects/things i find annoying about this board (8/4/2010 4:44:58 AM)

Because of the high possibility of hijacking that might come naturally with this thread when all aspects are taken into consideration, I went ahead and moved it for yall, so that there would not be modspanks for hijacking on this one......(whoops that might have been overmoderation, sorry)[;)]

Ok, I can see that is a valid reason for a poll. But I still think polls should be the exception and not the rule-that was a specific, highly controversial issue where the poll was used to provide an extra layer of anonymity. 'Did you guys miss me while the mods blessedly shut me up?' or 'Is D/s a subset of BDSM?' (one of the first polls I ever saw here) are not the same calibre of topic, and I would rather not see polls of that nature in the non-P&ORS parts of the board.

Oh yes, he quite deserves a piece of her meatloaf!!!!!  Hell, why just stop at one piece....just go ahead and lob, I mean, hand him a plateful!

Actually, VC, it's a tasty little dish involving hamburger, onions, ketchup, BBQ sauce, an egg, oatmeal or crushed crackers all being mushed together in a bowl, and them baked at about 350 degrees for about 30 minutes or so.....

unless it's Holly's meatloaf....then it's a little dish that is considered a cross between a biohazard and deadly weapon!
