Lockit -> RE: Couldn't CM Have a Category for Dommes Who Aren't After Money? (8/3/2010 12:27:31 PM)

For every wanker, scammer type email I get, I bet the numbers would equal the pro dominants that the males have to weed through. The hassles of a site like this go many directions. With that said, now I will get to my real point.

Udaboss and problemchild... I have often wondered if you were the same person. You see, I live in your area and have seen you both many times. In fact I am sure that Udaboss and I have had a couple emails after a thread he started that will forever stick in my mind. In our area the dominant's for the most part are lifestyle dominant's. Sure in the last year I have noticed more pro types, mostly scammer's, but I have personally met and talked to many of the dominant's in our area and know for a fact they are lifestyle, most make their own good money... except me... sob, sob... and most are simply looking for a submissive that is honest, places her before his fetish and who wants a real relationship that includes vanilla.

Now... I have studied the male submissive's in the area and have talked to a large portion of them. lol It isn't just my health, my son or situation that keeps them and I from hooking up! Shock, shock! Most want a play date or two... most want their sexual kinks as the main focus of any relationship they want and most within a few emails or meetings are expecting full on play time with very little else.

Even with all this, I look at it like we simply aren't a match. They aren't what I am looking for and I am not what they are looking for. I don't let them ruin my experience here, although from time to time I may sarcastically joke or laugh about some of the trollish fetishist who email me. What happens or doesn't happen here is all something I am a part of.

So anyway... when you have had some connection to the lifestyle dominant's and it didn't work out so well, all that may be left are the pro or scammer types. Rather than bitch about the site doing something about it, which could never happen even if they had far more staff than they do... and rather than bitch because the lifesyler's or you found something unworkable with the lifestyler's... and find fault that there are pro's or scammers here... TRY TO FIGURE OUT WHAT YOU MIGHT BE DOING OR EXPECTING THAT MIGHT TURN THE LIFESTYLERS OFF. We are here...

Frankly, as a domme I would have expected you to hold the interest of submissive men in a little higher regard.

Why?

The only submissive man that I'm concerned with on these boards is My own.  There are other submissive males on these forums that are friends of Mine who I care about them personally if you want to discuss My amount of empathy.  Other than that, I'm afraid you're barking up the wrong tree.

out of curiosity, i'm a lifestyle and a prodomme...what of the flagging system then?

The FIRST thing I would do here is add a feedback system like in Ebay. This will benefit EVERYONE.

If some horny man who's married says to you "gee wilickers, may I kiss ur feetz plz?" and turns out to be a bafoon, you can flag him with negative feedback.

Essentially can flag your experience with another profile as "positive", "negative", or just not flag it at all, and all that feedback is viewable.

Thus, if 75 people flag an individual with negative feedback, you can guestimate that they're not good to deal with based on the opinions of 75 people. Ala Ebay.

The second thing I would do is add a "pro-domme" flag that you can select on your profile to designate you as a pro-dom if you were one.

The third thing I would do is allow people to point out the profiles of people who aren't listed as "pro-dom" but ARE pro-dom by clicking a button.

Once enough people have pointed out a pro-domme who is falsely listed, the pro-dom's account is switched from "not-pro-dom" to "pro-dom" status.

If you have lifestyle interests, you can simply make a second, non-pro-dom profile, or a new system can be invented to accomidate you if you're both.

First of all, it's not a "small number" of submissive males. At least half the males on this site are subs. And I can assure you, LOTS of them would like the feature I suggested.

Second, why would this chase women away? I'm not saying business dommes shouldn't be allowed to use the site, just that there should be a different category for them. And I'm also not saying they couldn't have a second profile under the lifestyle if they are truly lifestylers.

The fact that we can filter people out on the basis of age, weight, race, country, height and other variables but NOT on the basis whether they're here for money or not seems very backward.

And just who would leave the site because of this? The lifestyle dommes? They really LIKE being lumped in with pro dommes, scam dommes, financial dommes, etc?

And the ones doing it to make money wouldn't leave either. Money is money. If it can be derived from a submissive male on CM, you think they're not going to have a profile here?

I don't agree with your estimate of the breakdown of males.  If the site is reflective of the scene at all, it's not a 50/50 deal with half of the males being Dom and half the males being subs.  The breakdown is probably more along the lines of 70/30, with male Doms in the majority.  It's a gray area because there are those who identify as switch.  Males of either category who are gay fall outside the interest of the subject.  (I've yet to meet a gay male Dom who was negatively impacted by pros.)

Of that 30% of males only who use the site (remember, we're not considering the female users right now) you have to remember that many of them are not especially looking.  Others are married, interested in cam only, etc, so even that number gets reduced.  If a male sub is already involved, why would they care if pros are flagged or not.  This means that you have an addition of folks who just honestly don't care.

Now, take someone who is similar to Myself.  I'm not a pro, but if the site would be more difficult for Me to use, I'm less likely to be here.  (This is exactly why I don't use Fet more often, unless I'm promoting a local event.)

Some of My friends happen to be pros.  It doesn't hinge My opinion one way or another if they aren't flagged, but the potential abuse of such a system does.  If they wouldn't be welcome here, I'd most likely feel the atmosphere was not an accepting one.  Not to mention, many of us lifestyle types are glad the pros are here.  It means less crap in the personal mailbox.

Look at the thread in it's entirety.  Not one female has said that they would welcome the potential of the site being harder to use, willing to sacrifice being the target of blacklisting, or be patient while the "bugs" are worked out.  We're happy just the way it is as far as the categories go.  There are absolutely more folks who are satisfied with the set up than those who aren't.

What you fail to recognize, since it's already been said, is that the only thing a flagging system like ebay would do is set up Dommes to be marked low as hell and no good because they've rejected somebody or somebody didn't like what they read.

Negative feedback?

It's not so black and white as in purchasing something.

One persons fake is another persons dream.

One persons annoyance is another persons delight.

Are you being purposely obtuse?

The feedback in Ebay is not on the product or even on the outcome of the transaction, it's on the quality of your interaction with the person.

If I say "Hey, I'm in to humiliation, what about you?" And she says "No, sorry." I give her POSITIVE feedback because we've had a succesful interaction.

If she says "Go fuck yourself retard", I give her negative feedback.

WyldHrt -> RE: Couldn't CM Have a Category for Dommes Who Aren't After Money? (8/3/2010 12:38:44 PM)

Since you ignored my first post, I will ask again. What about blacklisting? It is easy to create multiple profiles and have them all list negative feedback on the same person, just because they pissed you off. How would you like to be slapped with the tag, "Married and cheating" by someone who simply doesn't like you? How would you like it if they created sockpuppets that left similar feedback? How would you get that feedback removed?

That is hilarious. What you are failing to grasp when comparing eBay to here is that on eBay people are selling something concrete, an object they can describe, show a photo of it, and put a price on it.

When you are seeking a relationship, that is not concrete, that is purely subjective.... so your rating system is empty and a waste of time.

All your suggestions have to do with are externals, nothing internal as to what you yourself may do to change your results.

Rating systems are inherently bound to fail due to subjective negative ratings and there really is no middle ground. One man's trash is another man's treasure.

No, you're offended and defensive because you feel the comment is directed at you and thought I was calling you a whiny little fuck.

It's true, Dommes don't care what whiney strangers on a website have to say. Which means, your random opinion doesn't matter to w hole bunch of Dommes. Period. Hurt feelings or not, this is a fact and if I need to start a poll on it, to prove my point, I will.

What YOU fail to realize is that with increased search options this won't happen because people will actually be matched up properly!

OF COURSE there are miss-reports. Ebay seems to be doing just fine, and I'm sure CM will be too. No community is perfect, but we can invent systems that improve things.

LOL.. I would have an awful rating! That's okay... I already know I do. When I count the times a guy wanted to use me, sent me unwanted cock, cbt and anal shots or was rude... whom got a bit of my sarcastic laughter or rude comments... well... the number's climb. But boy... if they could rate us... we could rate them and tell all the little dark secrets they shared with us many times in a first email. That rating system would go both ways and would amount to nothing but he said/she said. Fail...

But you're making my point. I said "at least" half the males on CM were subs and was told, no, it's much less than that.
