UV has a pretty good line of flavored vodkas. I currently have the blue raspberry. It is pretty good. Vodka normally gags me, where this stuff goes down smooth. If I remember correctly, it was about 12 and some change.

Just dont try the cherry. Tastes like cough syrup and hot garbage.

I don't know if they still make it but there was an infused vodka called "Extreme" or "Xtreme" or something like that...I split a fifth of it with my friend over about an hour or two, and neither one of us had the slightest buzz. At all. It was worthless. And I get giggly after a drink and a half at a bar.

So if I were you I'd stick to the better known brands (Skyy, Smirnoff, Stoli, Absolut) at that price level because at least you know you'll get drunk!

i've had boones farm a few times. i refuse to believe there is any alcohol in it

Haha I loved it. The peach and apple based ones are the best IMO...the liquor store in Oak Park where I grew up would always have them on sale like 2 for $6 and 2 bottles of those would get me so toasty :)

I'm now enjoying a little glass of The Knot on ice. It's yummy and I highly recommend getting a bottle.

I also love Patron XO Cafe and we usually keep a bottle in the freezer. It's great on the rocks and perfect for an evening, sitting on your deck nightcap.

Nooo way I spent my broke youth drinking Boone's farm and smoking pot :D

Hmm E.; what is this youth thing of which you speak? I seem to have bypassed it, or else it's still here and I just didn't get the memo that I had to stop doing.. certain things.
Dear OP: Happy early Birthday honey, and I had a Big Grin about your jello shot mayhem, yes I did. Jello shots are good like that *nods knowingly from experience*. If you are having guests, you could also get a nice ripe (seedless) watermelon a couple days ahead of time, drill a few holes through the topside of the rind, pour in the alcohol, and let it sit until the party, at which time you slice it up and serve it like regular melon. It's almost as (the fun kind of) mayhem-causing as jello shots and very summery.
My wodka brand of preference: Absolut.

The last time I had vodka, it came from a watermelon, so flavor wasn't important.
Its a fun thing to prepare for parties, and watermelons are pretty cheap this time of year.

<-- admits that I have gone to the liquor store and picked out something new and different just because it had a pretty bottle. I like bottles. The time I did this with Goldschlager was a mistake, though..

I drank the whole bottle once and only once. I puked for three days.

I *love* Goldschlager! That was like the cool alternative drink before my friends and I got on a Jager kick.

To the OP - right now I've been drinking Bacardi coconut rum mixed with tropical juice. It is so good, and anything less than half alcohol doesn't even taste strong. It's definitely a summery drink :)

And back to vodka, another thing we'd drink is vodka mixed with about 2/3 cranberry and 1/3 sprite to give it a nice refreshing fizziness.

Grey Goose and Ketel One are both excellent suggestions of premium vodkas.

But for something moderately prized to mix a drink, Absolut, Skyy and Smirnoff would all be fine choices.

thanks for the birthday love and the watermelon idea sounds great. and my head started throbbing after recollection my thoughts on the jello shots. 20+ shots in 20 minutes....why i didnt have to go to the hospital is beyond me. ETA: i too suffer from shiny ball syndrome. i have a bottle of Hello Kitty champagne that my bf got for me last year.

I prefer Ketel One over all of the other vodkas...even much more expensive ones. I like mine with Tonic and lime over ice. If you stick with a top shelf vodka (or other top shelf liquor) it drastically reduces the aftermath the next day.

I went through a vodka phase for quite some time and seemed to be on a quest to taste them all. Grey Goose is my favorite the list goes down from there Ketel One, Ciroc, Shakers (if you can find it's made in MN) Belvedere, Stoly's, Boru (again if you can find it) Skyy, Absolute, Smirnoff, and we won't talk about the rest

I stick to Bourbon and Whiskey

But Jag can be fun every once in a while when I wanna get loopy

I love Absolut Mandrin mixed with sprite or 7 up. Tastes just like orange soda. I also have a soft spot for Xrated which is passionfruit infused vodka. More than once I have drank and entire fifth. Sick afterward, yes. But I still love it.
