I keep forgetting that the Op, knows all, sees all, has this all figured out, just picked up a flogger and knew the Anatomy of a human being and know all the ways to change the intensity and falls to illicit different effects.

Not only that the Op knows without a shadow of a doubt that they know all the things that they would and would not enjoy without question because they have transended the Human condition and are Omnipresent in knowledge of themselves.

Unlike us lowly people who learn from people who may not do things BETTER than us... just differently.

We should all forgo education and simply figure shit out for ourselves cause no one can possibly teach us something about ourselves that we should not already be experts on.

No, in most cases, they are SIGs.  The Madame's brunch that I used to attend quarterly was for female Dominant/s-type only and was not open to the entirety of the membership of the regular munch group.  It was a scheduled event by invitation only and always held in a private home.

When I first started attending munches over ten years ago, they weren't publicized on the net.  Folks went by a phone list.  Unless somebody already familiar with the group brought you, there was no way for you to know where it was going to be held.

Yes.  Most folks can do impact play without serious issue if they have some basic knowledge of anatomy.  There are a whole lot of types of play out there that aren't exactly wise to take the trial and error approach.

Maybe by learning about something they aren't familiar with.  Could be different play styles or how to successfully run a poly home.  You never know out of the thousands of things that people don't already have knowledge of or different types of play out there.

Things that I've taught classes have included:

BDSM on a budget.
Fire and Ice.
Wax
Interrogation and Role Play
Florentine Flogging

Demos that I've done at clubs like 1763 Atlanta and Studio Eris, the demo is before open dungeon play, so the fee is the same as if you were just going to the club.  For some munch groups, it's usually been a set up where the demo is separate from the regularly scheduled play party.  Entry fee is whatever the group has set up.

I couldn't tell you, as that is one of the clubs that I haven't attended.  I'm pretty sure that you could find out on their website or the information might be contained on one of the past ads in the Upcoming Events section.  I've noticed they have had some posts there in the past.

It doesn't work quite that way.  If somebody wanted to take pictures of folks eating dinner at a restaurant, if they were a member of the munch group, they would be escorted out if the group had a policy against it.  Pretty much the same as any behavior that is against the group's rules.  If it's not a member of the munch group, then somebody just got themselves a picture of folks in non kinky attire sitting at a group of tables.

I used to attend the munches in Fresno and several in LA none since moving to Maryland.

ETA: I used to attend a much held on a normal basis at a Dom/domme couples home in Fresno. It was NEVER an orgy. Infact there was never any play at all. it was a meet and greet kind of thing.

Also people who go to munches are typically respectful of the groups dynamics and rules including the rules regarding photographs, if someone forgets typically the host politiely reminds them. They then have the choice to comply or leave. It's that simple. And from my experience if they choose not to comply they aren't typically welcome back into local groups after that.

I have learned ALOT from other people in my life. Especially about how to play safely. There are simply some lessons I dont want to learn the hard way. I have attended classes on fire play, knife play, and mummification techniques.

Well, my Mistress befitted from learning how to safely play with needles by another Domme. Something about enjoying the blood after sticking sharp pointy things into me. Nothing about anyone's belief system. As to a list of what is else is taught, that would be too extensive. Google Black Rose or Leather Retreat, they have a ton of classes. So does Dark Fyre(sp). I have never been to a munch, party, or event where you could wander around and take pictures. As to you question about " He or she would be in public space and free to take pictures of whatever he or she wanted to." as it has been mentioned previously, most munches are at public restaurants. How often have you seen someone stand up and start randomly taking pictures of strangers?

I keep hearing about how great munches are and you would think there would be good ones in NJ or NYC.

But the few I have been to were people who all knew each other already, 99% Dommes and pretty much only sub men. No male Doms to speak of.

Also lots of couples. So not fun for me. I thought I would at least experience some intellectual discourse, but nah...they talked about how lousy the food was.

You seem to have missed the part where most munch groups are held in a vanilla setting with vanilla attire.  Are you afraid that someone might get a picture of people eating dinner?

I've never run into an issue where any member of the munch group has taken pictures if anyone protested.  Not everyone is willing to publish pics of others without their consent.  I realize that is a foreign concept to you, since I highly doubt Tink was ok with her pic here.  Did you ask her?

No, I have not attended munches before.  They're so far away from where I live and if my car isn't fine, I cannot go.  Several years ago I almost attended SMACK in Beckley, but some drunk driver took out my parked car and I was taking busses for over six months until I could get a new used car.  Then I heard the group disbanded.
 
I will be going to one this month in Charleston, called KATS, I believe, and I will check with SMACK again. 
 
The one in Charleston will cause me to drive a 7 hour round trip, not including the time at the restaurant.  Yes, ouch.
 
I will look for as many groups *nearby* as I can.  Meeting people one on one was good these past years, but it will be fun joining groups just to see what it's like.
 
So many submissive men in my area tell me they will not go to munches because they are afraid of losing their privacy, being outed and losing their job due to some morality clause.

I assume you haven't been to any, so how would you know?  A friend of mine went to TES several years ago and took some classes.  I was so envious.  One class was taught by Midori. 
 
Some of us are both intelligent and curious...I want to know everything everyone else does, safeties, and I want to know yesterday, lol.  I would be very arrogant indeed if I thought I knew everything and that there was nothing left to learn.
 
I also enjoy learning from other people's mistakes so I make fewer of my own.  This works for me.  If I have the chance to take classes, I will jump on it. [:D]  Not saying that I will ever want to try it myself...like shibari, for instance...but I would love watching someone who knows what they're doing and has turned it into an art form.
 
I would also sign up in a minute for classes on leather flogger making (I make many other types for my own use), as I am green with envy over that lovely braidwork on the handles.
 
I would like to watch cell popping, temporary brands, piercings (yeah, you KNOW where), and that needlework or pins where people do corsets on their flesh.  That last part is like a never in a million years would I get into that but...I would love to watch at least once.  Curiosity. [;)]
 
I do not want to watch any BDSM porn video cr*p of this stuff either.  I want to watch real people who are experts at what they do.
