Strangely, I have rarely had adverse comments here or in life when I refer to a female as Lass and yet when I refer to a bloke as Lad or Laddy unless they are British or specifically a Scot I get all sorts of testosterone induced responses. You're just lucky you're not American, since we don't have *any* cool sayings like 'jolly good' or 'chip chip cheerio' or lass' or 'bonza shiela'. Ebonix can be fun though, it's especially entertaining when rich white nerds use it.
Actually it's "Pip pip, cherrio, old chap!" (or old bean), not Chip, chip.
