Actually you never want your boot drive to be anywheree near full. Many programs use the hard drive for temporary storage and s does the operating system.

Level, the media files are likely what is taking up all the space. burn some to CD/DVD and delete them from the hard drive. Also do not use a registry cleaner unless you know what you're doing and are willing and able to reinstall everything on your computer if it goes wrong.

Status: offline 		Videos hog memory. Music doesn't take up nearly as much space. Honestly, stick the movies on an external hard drive. It's the only way to really solve this.

It will clean unused space and it will also clean your registry of unused materials

I'm not sure how to explain the issue with ZoneAlarm specifically as I'm not a computer guru.  However, there appears to be a bug in some versions/upgrades with that allows the tvdebug.log to continue to grow to a size that will completely fill your boot drive.  Here's a couple of threads that explain it and tell you how to fix it:

Status: offline 		A helpful first step would be to use a disk visualization tool, like the free WinDirStat, to identify what is actually taking up the space. I found a brief video that shows a bit about how to use it.

Media collections of music and, especially, video can be quite large; video can use upward of 1 GB per hour, depending on the quality. In all likelihood, you'll find it's those iTunes files that are consuming most of the space. If that's the case, I'd echo the advice to buy an external hard drive and transfer your media to it. Drives are reasonably inexpensive and , if you buy one, you'll still be able to use it with any new computer you finally get around to purchasing, so it won't be a wasted cost. Remember, having an external drive around to implement a regular backup policy is a very smart idea!

I would very strongly discourage you from using an iPod or similar device as the sole storage medium for your songs and video. If you lose or damage it, your files (and any investment in them) may be permanently lost. At the very least, make a backup to optical media.

There's also some possibility a program, like ZoneAlarm, is running amok and somehow eating all the free space. If that's the case, you should see a bunch of your disk being used up by it in WinDirStat; changing the offending program's preferences or removing and reinstalling it (or replacing it with an alternative) may fix things without resorting to a purchase of more storage right now.

Finally, the suggestion to defragment your drive is probably worth trying once you manage to clear some space up. A hard drive is very much a physical device, and filling it completely causes performance problems because the drive is forced to start spreading files over noncontiguous blocks, leading to much longer seek times whenever it needs to read or write. Defragmentation copies your data back into contiguous blocks, which alleviates this. Also, because a larger radius results in the platter spinning faster across the heads, outer tracks usually have better performance than inner ones; if the drive has to resort to using inner tracks, performance may decline some. Letting a hard drive fill up completely is generally not a good a idea for performance – something to keep in mind in the future.

Status: offline 		I thank everyone for the help, but I'm beginning to think maybe it IS Zone Alarm or something; I've purged a ton of vids and music, compressed stuff, etc, and have gotten 5.53 GB freed up; as someone said, you need 15% to defrag, and I'm only at 9

Status: offline 		Treasure, thanks for the links... I'm reading what some of them did, but when I shift/ctrl then right click ZA, there is NO "off" option on the debug. I may just uninstall it.

Status: offline 		Have you also cleaned your "cookies"? Lots of temporary files will reside there until you delete them.
(Click on tools then internet options, then the Delete button in the middle of the the window that pops up.)

Also, if you have java on your system, be sure to clean the java cache. I was surprised to find how
much space those files were hogging.(settings, control panel, find the java icon and open it. At the bottom is
Temporary Internet File Settings. Adjust as needed. )

Status: offline 		You can probably see a list of them when viewing in your Add/ Remove Programs, which you can access by clicking settings, control panel, and tadah! Im not sure I'd remove them though, as most are necessary for your system to be at its best.
(When ZoneAlarm isnt eating your disc)

And...ummm, why arent you able to get updates ?

I don't know why; I'm starting to think that whatever is eating my pc, has made it too "weak" to download them.

Also, I removed Java lol, it was used "rarely".

Damn, this ticks me off. I wonder if I still defrag, if it will free up enough space to help do a more efficient one?

Then you could drop a feather in front of them and it wouldn't deviate from a vertical descent...glorious.

Hell, that isn't THAT big, is it? That's a drop in the bucket There's something wrong, somewhere, I'm not seeing it, though. To use that much freaking space...

Status: offline 		most tmp files are safe to delete, but I'd rather we just find the ones in relation to Zone Alarm
(so you wont cuss me out if something else goes wrong)
Instead of searching for tmps. search for Logs.
As many as 10 folders may come up. Look in each yellow folder titled Logs for ZA.tmp ZA.txt
or anything ZA :)

Ps...you cant download updates...how can you download another program ?
