An interesting point, at least to me.

So this makes a lot of sense. I tell someone to do something. They decline. I use the label "un-sublike" as a pejorative in an effort to gain dominance -- the verbal equivalent of corporal punishment for disobedience.

Heh, the only rub is that, at least for me, this is not how dominance and submission works. In my mind, looking at that pencil-sketch of a scenario, I'd be wondering why the dominant wasn't in the dominant position to start with so the command was simply obeyed.

Oh, this is what I meant to say-

All the labels people devise for submissives arise, I think, because men are the most aggressive in pursuing women, and there is a tendency for people to label disparagingly things that don't fit their "sexual profile"- in other words, "my kink is ok, yours is a character flaw".

So disappointed men tend to be more prolific in coming up with negative labels for women who spurn them.

After my father passed away my mom didn't want to date, so there were several men that asked her if she were a lesbian... of course she would have to be to resist their charms

Maybe you are right, it is man thing and not a lifestyle thing

I think it's a "people" thing, personally. You'll always find sub-groups who will find ways of cutting each other down. I see women do this to each other all the time.
