I'll admit that I wasn't too keen on the idea of the Politics and Religion section when it first started out. Part of the reason for that has been more than realized. While I wouldn't say it is the majority of posters in this section, I don't think there would be any argument that there are some just plain rude, nasty posters that write things that wouldn't be acceptable in any other section. I don't think the section should go, but I honestly do believe that people posting in this section should be held to the same standard as anywhere else. It really is CM first and the P&R section second. Some of the derogatory things that I've seen written here, including offensive thread titles that are easily read on the scroll even if a person isn't participating in this section, shouldn't fly. Overall, I know folks are happier with the moderation for the site, but some of the stuff that passes in this section is downright ridiculous. TOS specifically says that you shouldn't insult the kinks and lifestyles of others, yet down here, there doesn't seem to be a standard if someone wants to attack a person for their religion. The same goes for their political affiliation and beliefs. I'm all for folks being able to debate any subject that they wish, but this section should be held to the same standard as any other board. There isn't a person reading this post that can't think of some examples of things people have written here that were specifically beyond where the boundary should be. They aren't willing to change and the Mods aren't really doing the job for this area.

It's like with the mafia - as long as they're only murdering each other, nobody really gives a shit. More power to 'em. Politics and Religion is like a perpetual gang war. As long as the people who post here only fight here, it serves a purpose.

I responded to this thread only because I saw the post fly by on the ticker but I realized what an intellectual wasteland P&R was months ago (along with the fact that certain mods have a slightly liberal bias) and I just don't visit any more. Problem solved. Perhaps you should try it. What I have often wondered is why there is no Sports forum. A sports forum would be nice....Can you imagine what would happen when certain posters would claim that their favorite (conservative/liberal hitter) was batting .375 when in reality he was batting a mere .220? As a self admitted narcissitic and ego driven poster. It would be nice if you would all just cave and admit to the errors of your ways and except my ideology as being the one true way. Life would be so simple and you would all feel so much better about yourselves. My clown show has been going along quite smoothly of late. As Jeffff once said,..... There are just way too many folks that participate on this thing that have no concept of what it means to conduct an honest and forthright conversation. I don't miss any poster that has been dismissed just as I quickly became a footnote, during what is now pretty much universally accepted as "CM's days of darkness," in the era in which I was banned. It would be nice if people had the ability to recognize a meaningful source and story from fiction or one that is fabricated and perverted in a manner to support and further some twisted ideology. Fucking Gorean trekkies, we are surrounded by them. Is it against the law to delete someone in real life? The political section needs it's Gorean Trekkies as well, I guess.

This thread is interesting for the participation and musings of the folk who tend to want to actually engage in politically debate using credible sources and a reasonable amount of fact - and the absence of the hatemongers who pursue their agenda of divisiveness in P and R. They are probably starting a thread about Michelle Obama being fat or something equally inane. Nah, nobody could be that hateful...
