Fast reply to the OP... The general closemindedness and idiocy on the P&R has caused me to leave the CM forums entirely back when I was a raptor in person-username disguise for months at a time. It's basically a cesspool of rancid human thought and is the lowest common denominator of boards here. Domi's right... it serves no purpose. No one is swayed. No one is educated by 99.9% of the topics (especially when most of them are misleading bullshit). Whenever I tell someone they should start posting on the forums I tell them to avoid that section. It's enough to hurt a reasonable man's brain.

Granted, I'm not a regular poster here. But, I do lurk in the shadows occasionally and I do find the P&R section a welcome addition to the CM forums. For me, it is not about swaying people one way or another. Rather, it is a way to get to know someone's mindset. Their point of view on both politics and religion, and even more so the way they put forth their opinions, tells me something about them. I find that interesting. Moreover, CM attracts people from all walks of life, from all over the globe. It's not a place where you would find mainly liberals or conservatives, mainly atheists or theists. The only thing we all seem to share is an interest in BDSM, and that is, as far as I know, not related to any kind of other preference or social attribute. That makes for a potentially very interesting (albeit slightly explosive) mix in the P&R-section. So, being around here I get to know about perspectives I otherwise would never have known existed. I find that interesting too. With regard to the two points above, I understand that CM is not exactly unique in this. The same points can be made about the P&R-section of a site targeting stamp enthusiasts. But, I do not collect stamps... so...

ACTually.........I rather enjoy having it contained. The putzes would post, even if they didn't have a special place to be 'special'. This way, it's all compartmentalized, rather like our own special little insane asylum. And if I want to be a little nutty, I know where I can go and feel right at home. Or just to read and have visions of a few, sitting hunched over their computers, faces red, foam gathering on their lips, muttering crazily, gesturing wildly, inbetween furiously pounding on their keyboards. It makes me laugh. And, amazingly enough I have actually learned a thing or two.

The P and R forum, I take it or leave it, it depends on my mood and whether I really want to daily read a constant critique of America's political system, but educational in a way, as prior to Collarme, I had no clue how it is America goes about things, which as this forum was created, I now get the impression there are not a lot of happy people in the US, it is a far from sorted country than I first thought and dear old Blighty has sod all problems in comparison. But since P and R has been created, I am seeing nastiness I have never seen on any other website before, it seems P and R brings out the worst in some people. But Collarme creating this section, one has just got to wonder if site traffic has increased or decreased, I suspect the former, and site traffic is what websites want, so whatever, moderate the forum heavily and see what happens to the ratings.

Most of us are not here to "sway" anyone, and few here are going to spend hours researching topics, in order to give long elaborate dissertations, and explainations. In fact, most people on here are not even going to read the crap. I don't have to do any research to have an O P I N I O N. lol, you DO the research! You can come here pop in, give your O P I N I O N, and pop out. Some of us do, have other things to do in life than research information to satisfy YOU. If you need more information, than guess what? The links that I give, are based on information that interests me, and information I want to share. You see my posts are about ME, and what I want to say and what I want to contribute. Some times, it changes my mind, but most of the time, it just strengthens my feelings and beliefs.

I'm not sure how they expect me to be influenced by them, when they call me an ignorant racist because I lean to the right or just plain ignorant because I believe in God in most of their posts. They might make some really good points, but I don't have the inclination to dig through the hate to find out. And yes that would go for both sides of the fence. Might also be part of the reason, I do listen when you say something.
