What was the name of the mother who was deported.

JstAnotherSub -> RE: Fact-checking the claims about 'anchor babies' and whether illegal immigrants 'drop and leave (8/14/2010 4:06:14 AM)

Her name was Margarita.

tazzygirl -> RE: Fact-checking the claims about 'anchor babies' and whether illegal immigrants 'drop and leave (8/14/2010 5:11:39 AM)

And thats all the information you are willing to give to help me find the article.

JstAnotherSub -> RE: Fact-checking the claims about 'anchor babies' and whether illegal immigrants 'drop and leave (8/14/2010 5:46:13 AM)

It is not an article, it is a thread on here that I started back when it began.  The title of the thread is "Those damn Illegals", and my name on here was seeksonlyone at the time.

I posted a link on the page previous to this one that seems to not work.  Perhaps you can put a link that will work.

That link should work. However, i would like the name of the local paper you took that Op from. Doing a google search, i could not find the article/report/opinion piece.

Tazzy I did not get the OP from a local paper.  I got it from the person who wrote the letter.  This was about kids who attended the school I work at and their mom.  The author of the letter was our school nurse, who is married to an Army colonel.

There are no links to my real life.  If you would like to know the details of what has happened since that thread, I would be happy to tell you.  If you are one of the folks that doesn't believe anything if there is no link, then just consider me a liar because I will not give any info that could lead to the kids or the nurse or my self being able to be identified.

Saying "I know this one lady who got deported" doesn't really contradict the fact that quite a few women are able to get temporary or permanent legal residency once they're the parent and guardian of a US citizen.

And if the INS officials had less to deal with because of people hiring illegals and the illegal drug trade, perhaps they would find pregnant women more of a priority[8|]

Would saying I knew 3 do it?  7? 51? Would saying I have been involved with a  local organization that is doing all they can to try to help change the laws and make it easier for those who have been here for years or decades to become legal?

Fact is, we all believe what we consider or know to be the truth.  I know, from personal experience working with a largely Latino population, that having a child born here does nothing.

I know this because of the case in that other thread linked above, because of the number of students I have had cry as they say bye to me because mom or dad had to leave immediately to go back to Mexico due to INS.  I know due to the children who just don't show up one day and it is later discovered that their parents had to leave quickly, to avoid getting into trouble.

The fact that I love these kids, and hate to see them go back to Mexico where they will not have the opportunities they have here doesn't change the fact that their parents made a conscience choice to break the law.  It also doesn't change the fact that their parents did this searching for a better life.

It doesn't change the fact that, at least the families that I know, are the hardest working, most loving and kindest folks I have ever known either.  The children are kind souls and have no idea that the fact they are here makes so many angry.

It also doesn't change the fact that we need better immigration laws.  I can think of no reason we would want to stop kind, hard working, family oriented folks from living in and becoming citizens of this great country we call home.

Some things are just really fucked up and unfair.  To me, the immigration laws are one of those things.

I have no websites to prove it, but I think i am going to find some sources when I get back to school in a couple of weeks. I know a few people who are studying the issue of border relations, and one who is studying undocumented students who grew up here.

I am under the impression that you are right, not to mention that if you have your child here you are forever renouncing their right to be considered truly "mexican"... and yes folks, that is a big deal to Mexicans, who mostly are highly proud and patriotic believe it or not

I believe without any shadow of a doubt that I am correct.  I just don't care enough to try to prove it to someone who appears to just be looking for an argument and "links".  There is no link to my real life.

However, if you can prove me to be right, I will thank you immensely!

I'll say is slowly so you can draw the connective lines.

owner59 and his palin avatar escort cast in red, along with yourself crowing over the slow path to citizenship when the point itself is incredibly dense.

There. If you need more I'll work up a diagram or picture or something for you.

Got it now?

So, instead of addressing the person with a Palin avatar, you conflate us and then post some cryptic response to me about Palin and commune... wow, we have very different view on what "cogent" means...

When you want to address me about MY posts, ideas, etc, please do so. If you want to address owner59 with his views, posts, and ideas, post to him. We are not the same person and often have very different ideas

Thank you in advance for being more clear in the future

There is a large body of legal thought that Ark is an outlier.
People are looking for the right test case now. This may not even take a Constitutional Amendment.
Birthright is not what the 14th intended, as American Indian cases make clear, as the debate over the 14th makes clear, blah, blah, insert legalese here.
Test cases coming.

have you checked the latest study from the Pew Hispanic Center? USA Today, of all things, had this as a big article. (Front page?)
