ORIGINAL: Toppingfrmbottom Spell check isn't always the end all be all. Spell check has told me several words I want to use, which are correct are wrong. And spell check doesn't always catch everything, and maybe someone's a poor enough speller that they don't know how to spell it with out spell check. Yes, you can get up and get a dictionary or look it up, but unless you're super duper mega anal retentive, why? It's not a school paper, it's not going to get the hell and rath of the gods pulled down on you. Yes, it can be a matter of pride, but the forums people feel more relaxed. While you may be correct regarding the use of grammar, spell check will catch any word that is spelled incorrectly. It will also flag for abbreviations that are commonly used for things like wiitwd, unless you have specifically set it to accept that as a word. What it won't catch are common mistakes, such as the appropriate use for words such as "there", "their", and "they're". Something I'm going to be a lot more lenient if someone is working from a second language than someone who is using their native language. The above example is one that I have seen a number of folks have on their pet peeve list, so that was the one that I used.
