Mishna -> RE: What do you require before you even speak with a sub? (8/15/2010 3:29:13 PM)

I don't feel that my time is worth any more than anyone else's time. If someone took the time to write a message, I will usually respond, even if it's just to say, "No, thanks. I'm not interested." I'm curious to see how your method works out, though. (Not that I plan to ever employ it.)

I've written to women with profiles like yours, Ms A - that is, profiles that are almost purely 'spiky-Domme' (want of a better expression) - but generally only if there's some hint in her profile that she's got a sense of humour that I can pick up on. That makes me feel like I've got an easy opening with which to engage her in some kind of real and human conversation.

That seems sensible.  To be honest of all the subbies who have looked at My profile I think you are one of the best at knowing how to present yourself both visually and in terms of your profile.  Several have been better looking and more charming but you have a real ability for self-presentation.

So, in general, a submissive should have good manners & be polite, have a grasp of grammar & the English language, NOT use textspeak, and say something about his/her vanilla interests (and maybe political leanings). Oh, and a picture would be nice. [;)] That makes sense to me. [:D]

~sweetsub~

Yeah, political leanings would probably good, at least a little idea.  Picture... I wouldn't complain, but it's not necessary right away.  I can wait a little bit on that.  The English language, only if it's his native language.  Otherwise, if it is, for instance, someone from Denmark or Japan or wherever, I can be extremely forgiving on their grammar.  It's probably still better than most of the Americans that contact me anyway. I require them the fully read my profile and understand it.
I then expect them to be able to be articulate enough to carry on a conversation.

Yep, pretty much what I'm saying, right here.

If they're not willing to put that much effort into an initial contact, then why on earth should I think they would put any effort into actually serving me?

Yes, if English wasn't their first language, some leeway would be in order. But You're right, some people that've had to learn it as a second language are more particular about getting it right than those who've always spoken it. [;)] I'm not looking now, but I have a pretty good idea of what I should be doing if I ever am.

How strange - my home page doesn't report that you've looked at my profile at all.  Oh well, not to worry.  The main thing is that - yes, I do try to make the best of what I've got.  Thank you for the compliment!  I think your own avatar photo is extremely well-taken and makes the very best of your appearance.  All you need to do now is bring out your personality in your profile text.  That can take a knack, admittedly, but I don't see why you shouldn't be able to acquire it.

Peon, I agree your profile is pretty good. She's an english student, I'm kind of curious what she can whip out in her profile when she actually tries to describe herself rather than a fantasy.

BKSir: When you know more than one lunguage punctuation becomes a really huge mess.

Thanks, Twoshoes.  Actually, I think Ms Apocalypse could do well by sticking around on the forums here.  There are quite a few Dommes who are very good at connecting with men in the sort of human way that I mean.

One can be logged into the forum and not be logged into the main CM site; thus, they do not get tracked on your profile when they view you. It is also possible to read profile and journal while staying on the search results page and that does not get tracked even if you are loged in.

PeonForHer -> RE: What do you require before you even speak with a sub? (8/15/2010 5:39:07 PM)

Cheers, thatsub.  I can't get that to work for myself, though.  But it's not a functionality that I need, really.

I perv profiles of people I see on the boards, just to find out more about them, and I don't hide it. [;)]

Re preventing some of those crapmails that Dommes seem to get from fantasists and wankers:   I have a little hypothesis that humour in a Domme might kill the fantasy for them.  I have a feeling that for that sort of sub a "Goddess" or a "Queen" can never, ever blow a raspberry - if you catch my drift.

But no doubt said hypothesis will be swiftly shot down in flames by Dommes here, like many of my favourite hypotheses . . . .   [;)]

No dice.  I used to have a "gamer geek grrrl seeks friends" profile with all kinds of humor on it, explaining how I was only looking for fellow gamer geeks who did NOT want to play or have sex.  For awhile I had a simple fully clothed vanilla photo on that profile, then I had no photo at all.  Absolutely no change in the amount of nasty explicit email I got on that profile as I do on my current one.  This boggles me, but it's true.

Oh well, bang goes that hypothesis as expected, then.  [;)]

I must admit, there's a peculiar kind of aggression involved in the sorts of messages you mentioned in your earlier post.  It seems thuggish, more than anything.

sexyred1 -> RE: What do you require before you even speak with a sub? (8/15/2010 6:03:00 PM)

I would like to add my requirements before I even speak to anyone, Dom or sub:

1. no cock pics.
2. don't say, wow, u got Yahoo?
3. don't say, are u shaved?
4. no cock pics.
5. don't ever say the word subbie
6. don't just say, hi
7. don't say, what r u looking 4 when it clearly is stated in the profile
8. don't say wanna chat, got Yahoo?
9. no cock pics.
10. try and make sure you have not done 1-9 previously. Some people write the exact same thing every few weeks as if you cannot see in the received mail section that you have already seen their emails; repeating won't help.

Also, don't say Hi Mistress. Very bad.

And, don't say My Dom is seeking a third, will you be her? Very bad.

Agreed.  I have to say it sounds silly.  Miss Apocalypse - please note.  [;)]

sexyred1 -> RE: What do you require before you even speak with a sub? (8/15/2010 6:13:49 PM)

I have always detested the word subbie; it sounds so condescending and reveals much about the user.

As far as writing to a sub woman and calling her Mistress, that is another irksome thing. It is usually accompanied by, but, but, but you LOOK like a Domme so I was hoping you would switch.

It ranks up there with, "Hello. How is the girl doing today? Would the girl like to speak to ME?"

Grrrrrrrr.

LadyHibiscus -> RE: What do you require before you even speak with a sub? (8/15/2010 6:15:28 PM)

I was reading some dude's journal entry where he referred to the sub as IT. ~shudder~

Eh?  Why do people think you look like a Mistress, sexyred?   You look quite cheerful and friendly!

VaguelyCurious -> RE: What do you require before you even speak with a sub? (8/15/2010 6:18:16 PM)

I have a friend who defines herself as a subbie with toppy tendencies.

That's the only time I can stand the word, and that's only because it scans so well.
