I don't think being apathetic about your stuff makes you a hoarder, hoarders from my understanding can't bear to get rid of their stuff because they're afraid something bad will happen, and usually because they've gone through a trauma. Like the one woman who hoards food, because there was a time she couldn't afford to feed herself, and felt so helpless, she now hoards food in the determination to never, ever, be in a situation where she couldn't feed herself again. Another woman her father burnt all her possessions and now she drowns her home in stuff because it helps her feel better that when she was a child her stuff was burnt.quote:
ORIGINAL: Rule I am a hoarder myself. It is not that I do not want an empty room, but that I am apathetic. I have more stuff in my room than is proper. So yes, I am mentally impaired - but the plus side is that as a consequence of that impairment I do am a supergenius. I had a friend help me clean up my room half a year ago, and she removed five garbage bags, and she was kind about it, but it still was a strain on me as I felt obliged to help her clean my room. I would rather sit or stand and watch and direct other people how to work. I try to not bring things in, but it happens anyway. Like for example a friend having written a book and me buying a copy, or receiving a book to review. It would be less of a problem if I could earn any money.
