I have been doing a lot of thinking about the different skills a Dom or Master would ideally want their sub to have and thought I would just ask the community for inspiration as well.  What skills or knowledge do you want your subs or slaves to have?  Cooking? Sexual skills?  Dance? I know that many people will say things like "I want her to be devoted and submissive."  Please try to be a little more creative.  I'm looking for actual skills one could possess to make him or her more pleasing to a Dom or Master.

Most important should be skilled at adaptation and learning itself.

A well developed "inner observer" a silly new age term that works.  It is the development of a little voice that watches the things you do and provides the occasional salient remark or especially question.

Like "gee, you are really reacting to that, I wonder what is really going on" or my dreaded favorite for myself "gee, you have done this before, is this some sort of pattern?"

And the greatest rewards I have been given were often unexpected and ones I never would have thought to ask for.  I try and see what's there before I go looking for what isn't.

My skill set is composed of generic skills which would probably be of use to anyone and specific skills which are of use to Himself.

Generic skills: cooking, cleaning, financial management, organization, secretarial skills and things of that nature. In 46 years, I've picked up too many skills to list them all.

Specific skills, things which I learned 'just' because they make his life easier or better: humidor maintenance, understanding the terms which cigar smokers use like BOTL's ::Brothers of the Tobacco leaf:: choosing a good cigar, pipe maintenance, wire jewelry art, Jewish cuisine ::which I have not yet mastered, but I'm getting there::, learning as much as I can about RC ::radio control:: planes and flying. The specifics list is fairly long as well after 10 years, but that's a small sampling.

I enjoy learning about the things he likes doing. Not only does it increase my personal knowledge, but it gives us something to share.

Celeste

I do not feel there is any given skills a sub could have that would make them perfect for everyone.  Every Dom or Master is going to want something else from ther sub or slave.  Thus the need to be able to adapt and learn.  We are all newbies when it comes to first dealing with a new partner.

And in another thread you claim to not be a generic dominant?

i agree with the inner observer and communication comments along with the ability to adapt and learn. all of these are the building blocks for any specific skill building.

also perhaps the skills of self love and care becuase the more you love and respect yourself the more you can love and respect your One.

My specific skill set that i am building is the art of physical, emotional, mental, and Spiritual healing. In specific reiki and Spiritual response therapy, divination are the corner stones.

and yes i am still on this path. but one recent example of time i spent with my Own was time i spent truely being grateful and appreciating  Him and his masculine energy :)  the more i stay on my path the more i have to give.

and i am NOT vanilla lol i just dont know how to change the icon. stamps foot and pouts!

It would be individualized to each dominants interests/hobbies/lifestyles. I'm assuming you arent owned. Just a few suggestions:

*Quite a few dominants are going to have SOME type of leather, be it boots, toys, etc. Leather care & boot blacking are good.
*If he enjoys the more 'formal' type gatherings or tends to host many:  tea service (theres many different types), formal dining, catering, formal protocol, hand-washing ceremony, etc.
*If he is active in community meets, get-togethers, dungeon society, etc. : Victorian manners, proper etiquette, current events (ok, this one sounds strange but if he's engaged in conversation with someone about politics or something and can't remember that whats-his-name is running for senate, he'll be very appreciative if you're up to date and can whisper the name in his ear lol)
*domestic, accounting, valet, personal assistant . . . there's really too many to name!
Have fun learning!!!!

Respectfully,
enthralled

Okay, the serious response:

My writing ability is something I've found all my partners have appreciated. The ability to write out a fantasy or scene that might appeal to me, or give them insights into what I might enjoy. The ability to clealy express my thoughts, so they can better understand me. The ability to write erotic fiction to please them, or an evocative email or text message to liven up a dull day.

The other skill I've found appreciated is that of research. Freeing up their time by going forth and getting information that will be useful to them.

And I make really good jello...(I'm just saying...cause there's always room for jello!)

my skills of graphic and web design, research, and writing are all especially useful for my Dominant. and He claims i am the best at giving blowjobs He's ever had, but i'm not so sure about that ;) i'm also skilled at cooking, cleaning, dancing, and massage, which all come in handy in random situations, depending. those are the ones that have probably come up the most, so far. :) i am building skills of communication on levels i've never communicated with anyone before, as well as, with His training, becoming more adept at separating my emotions from my logic and being able to decide from situation to situation which should rule me. i am with sensualkiten that developing one's own personal self-care and self-esteem is a HUGE skill, one i'm only coming to develop now. i am also very spiritually minded. i can also make green tea, which is His favorite drink, besides water ;)

There are no skills that would make my girl more pleasing than for her just to be herself. That's all I ask for.
