Questioning your government is not only the right thing to do, it is the MOST patriotic thing to do. In fact, questioning authority is precisely the job of each and every citizen. This whole idea of "love it or leave it" was clearly dreamed up by people that actually hate the idea of a vigorous republic.
What could be better than issuing edicts for which there is no discussion? Or more subversive yet: allow dissent because it allows the dissenters to be clearly identified given the right surveillance techniques. It doesn't matter anyway, GodMoney will be served.
Why discuss these issues on a BDSM site? Who better understands the precise role of power in human relationships than we do? BDSM is politics! I understand power utterly, because I have controlled the lives of others as if they were trembling doves held in the palm of hands. I understand mercy because I have never had to prove my authority by actually crushing anyone held in my grasp.
Elsewhere UtopianRanger contends that the U.S. is in the hands of a Oligarchical Collectivism - which of course is just another way of saying a totalitarian government governed by an elite plutocracy (loot-ocracy), but actually run by droves of mindless proletarian masses who not only do not question but in fact blindly follow the lead of their greedy ruling class.
