Well, it you had any doubt about the GOP being in the back pocket of Fox News and Murdoch.  it seems News Corp the corp. owner of Fox news has donated 1 Million Dollars to the GOP Governors Association to help them defeat the DEMS.

Strange how FOX News did not cover this

here is the story and as to how much they donates to other political parties....$0.00

So much fo FAIR AND BALANCED from FOX News

Strange how it is ok when a foreigner donates money to the GOP.

Musicmystery -> RE: News Corp (Fox News owners) donate to GOP (8/18/2010 5:12:10 PM)

Yeah, no conflict of interest there, huh?

GE, which owns MSNBC, gave equal amounts to both major parties.

It's a bad omen. But it's not like anyone doesn't know FOX and the WSJ editorial page are rapidly right--or like they could move any further right.

joether -> RE: News Corp (Fox News owners) donate to GOP (8/18/2010 6:21:02 PM)

Is anyone surprised by this? That the GOP News gave money to the GOP, and then forget to report it? Yes, they got rid of all their journalists back in the late 90's, and havent hired any since. During the 2008 election for the Office of the President, no one took GOP News seriously, because it would promot Mr. McCain, and bash Mr. Obama at every moment it could. They promoted and encouraged the birther movement. They attacked cnn's coverage of the Tea Party Express. Yeah, that OTHER bus, that followed the Tea Party Express bus....which company was using that bus? GOP News attacked with bias coverage of the Health Care Act, rather then report facts. They did not slam the 'Death Panels' crap, but advertised it on their infomerials (Like 'Fox & Friends'). Or does anyone want to make the arguement that Mr. Beck gives the total and complete facts on gold....let alone any other subject?

I would have been surprised if GOP News DIDN'T give the GOP any money.

And, in other news, scientists in Peoria discovered today that pigs can't fly.

Oh shit.....so no Pink Floyd reunion tour?

thornhappy -> RE: News Corp (Fox News owners) donate to GOP (8/18/2010 7:15:48 PM)

The story I saw quoted Mr. Murdoch as saying that he supports free markets.

I think that's a freakin' hoot, because he said that to all that complained about the hypocrisy of his move into the satellite business in China that he would be a good influence on the freedom movement.  (And we know how free markets are how China operates.)

When the Chinese government complained about the BBC's covered of Tianamen, he blocked it per their request.  He goes whatever generates the most bucks.

TheHeretic -> RE: News Corp (Fox News owners) donate to GOP (8/18/2010 7:21:30 PM)

Hmmm. I wonder if that has anything to do with the Democrat President stating that Fox wasn't a legitimate news organization. Maybe, ya think?

So much for fair and balanced is right...

Whether you sample your news feed from ABC or CBS (or, yes, even NBC and MSNBC), whether you prefer Fox News Channel or National Public Radio, The Wall Street Journal or The New Yorker, some of the journalists feeding you are also feeding cash to politicians, parties or political action committees.

MSNBC.com identified 143 journalists who made political contributions from 2004 through the start of the 2008 campaign, according to the public records of the Federal Election Commission. Most of the newsroom checkbooks leaned to the left: 125 journalists gave to Democrats and liberal causes. Only 16 gave to Republicans. Two gave to both parties.

servantforuse -> RE: News Corp (Fox News owners) donate to GOP (8/18/2010 7:31:09 PM)

Maybe your next thread should be about how unions spend millions every year supporting democrats.

Musicmystery -> RE: News Corp (Fox News owners) donate to GOP (8/18/2010 7:33:31 PM)

By that standard, then, no Republicans and no Democrats could be journalists.

Complete inability to separate private and professional judgment.

slvemike4u -> RE: News Corp (Fox News owners) donate to GOP (8/18/2010 7:36:02 PM)

And what is the issue with unions contributing to the political party which best represents their interests? How is that in any way analogous with the Fair and Balanced network pumping money to the GOP?
You go further round the bend day by day servant.

thornhappy -> RE: News Corp (Fox News owners) donate to GOP (8/18/2010 7:40:52 PM)

Considering unions represent about 15% of the population, how much power do they really have anymore?

I'd rather see facts than "fair and balanced".  Balanced coverage in WWII would've been Hitler and Stalin (fascism/communism).  A lot of journalism nowadays always presents 2 views regardless of how bogus one of the views is, instead of fact checking and saying "that ain't true".

SuzanneKneeling -> RE: News Corp (Fox News owners) donate to GOP (8/18/2010 7:42:03 PM)

LOL.  Anyone who is naive enough to think FauxNews is a real news channel deserves exactly the garbage they get.  Too bad there are enough of these useful idiots around in our country that the nation ends up so misled on so many issues.

servantforuse -> RE: News Corp (Fox News owners) donate to GOP (8/18/2010 7:42:49 PM)

One guy donating a million to the GOP. That's a drop in the bucket to what just the teachers union gave to the democrats. I believe the total nationwide was close to 51 million for the 2008 election. That was just one union..

domseekservant -> RE: News Corp (Fox News owners) donate to GOP (8/18/2010 7:45:07 PM)

that maybe true of fox news but how much does cnn, msnbc, nbc, cbs, abc just to mention a view donate to the dems

Really. What's the name of this national union?

slvemike4u -> RE: News Corp (Fox News owners) donate to GOP (8/18/2010 7:47:34 PM)

And again Servant.....what is your issue with a union, any union at all.....exercising their free speech right to contribute to the party of their choice?
And to put a point on it.....how is that the same as a "news" organization ...whose stock in trade is supposed to objectivity doing the same?

servantforuse -> RE: News Corp (Fox News owners) donate to GOP (8/18/2010 7:48:14 PM)

All teachers unions nationwide put together.
