I have an appt for a free - well to see if a cheap dentist can do it.   meanwhile- I need some fucken money.

Have you considered getting a fucken job?  That's how most people get fucken money.  It's a great fucken system.

Hm...after a few years of not going to the dentist (about 5 years or more), I went back for the first time and they said I need: 1) two molars pulled; 2) two needs caps; 3) two sessions of deep cleaning.  Grand total? Rounding up to 4000 bucks.  Luckily, I have health insurance so I need to find 1400 bucks to cover the difference.  Dunno if that's a "good" price, that's just me in LV.  :P

I understand.  I have put thousands and thousands of dollars into my mouth.

My mom's had a few extractions and at least one root canal (no dentures yet), so maybe I've got genes on ma side!  She's 76.

I racked up a bunch of cavities when I was young (my mom was told to give me raisins for my anemia (they didn't tell her to have me brush much more often)) and no flouride to boot. Plus we were really short on money so I didn't have a lot of dental care until I was in high school.  I haven't had a new cavity since I was 18, but generally have ancient fillings die and have to be redone.  That's how I had a few root canals; a few fillings failed and decay set in underneath before I realized it.

Take care of yourself, Termy!

No. A CDT did tell me that if you have one, just get ready to get dentures eventually. Maybe I should've STFU. I've been lucky with teeth. I've been hit right in the mouth with a 2X4 and still have them all. I haven't been to a dentist since I was a kid having my baby teeth pulled, no tooth fairy for me.

But over the years I've eaten differently than most, plus it might be hereditary. Both my Parents lost their teeth, but my Grandfather kept his all his life. Sometimes these things skip a generation. I'm reevaluating alot of things these days. Details later.

Floss and toothpaste are cheap. Decay is caused by the stuff you leave in your mouth and then it hardens and starts eating away or packs itself below the gumline. Do you shower everyday? Why not floss and brush too. It called hygiene.  I have been in dentistry for 12 years and it aint hereditary. It is personal choices.

Not sure if you're addressing me or just using the fast reply.

[If you are addressing me, what makes you think I don't practice good hygiene?  I've gone years without a cleaning (I'm talking at the dentist's office) at one point, and had very little tartar at all.  Any decay I have nowadays is due to leaky, broken or cracked fillings.  I can't clean under a filling.]

Wasn't there news about 10 years ago that some people harbor a strain of bacteria that makes them extremely prone to tooth decay?
