My mom's had a few extractions and at least one root canal (no dentures yet), so maybe I've got genes on ma side! She's 76. I racked up a bunch of cavities when I was young (my mom was told to give me raisins for my anemia (they didn't tell her to have me brush much more often)) and no flouride to boot. Plus we were really short on money so I didn't have a lot of dental care until I was in high school. I haven't had a new cavity since I was 18, but generally have ancient fillings die and have to be redone. That's how I had a few root canals; a few fillings failed and decay set in underneath before I realized it. Take care of yourself, Termy! quote:
ORIGINAL: Termyn8or "Have you ever gone without a root canal when it was needed? " No. A CDT did tell me that if you have one, just get ready to get dentures eventually. Maybe I should've STFU. I've been lucky with teeth. I've been hit right in the mouth with a 2X4 and still have them all. I haven't been to a dentist since I was a kid having my baby teeth pulled, no tooth fairy for me. But over the years I've eaten differently than most, plus it might be hereditary. Both my Parents lost their teeth, but my Grandfather kept his all his life. Sometimes these things skip a generation. I'm reevaluating alot of things these days. Details later. T
