That is unfortunate, but no more than I expected from you. Indeed, I value people who are that unfortunate, for if the see-saw is low on one end, it will be high on the other end. So: do not feel bad, but instead feel proud!

Now please go climb on top of a roof and shout to all of humanity: "Rule must rule!" Thank you for your effort.

It must be unpleasant and a strain, living among religious nuts. Do take a vacation now and again!

I think you may have missed my point. Here it is again:

Islam itself is entirely incompatible with tolerance, with Democracy, and with Western ideals of freedom.

Just like the Christian Bible.

What I'm trying to get across is that while the Qur'an certainly has passages that aren't remotely compatible with tolerance or secular freedom the Bible also has equivalent passages. Just as Christianity has gone through reformation and evolution to become tolerant(ish) and compatible(ish) with Western freedoms, Islam can not only do the same, it is and has already been doing so.

Other than in the US, where has it been doing so?

Religion is scary, do we really need it in this world of scary things?

I stand corrected, then. Thank you. And moreover, I agree with you.

Europe...in pockets, in general not so at all. That is why euro governments are finally waking up and establishing/enforcing laws to stem the tide of Islamic fundamentalists. Turkey did indeed moderate to reconcile with a secular majority. Unfortunately there has been a major swing back toward fundamentalism. Lebanon never moved much, the always more moderate Shia gained more of a voice, thats about it.

But more importantly, even many Muslims agree with Andrew Breitbart that there is no such thing as "moderate Islam".

Then what do you call the Muslims living in Europe and other areas who are perfectly content NOT to have sharia law and who are integrating with western culture?

I'm not sure what anyone else calls them, but fundamentalist Muslims call them infidels.

Excellent first post, though I don't think the qualifier "fundamentalist" is needed.

I don't like or respect any religion.
"Phobic" denotes "fear" or "fear of."
I don't think that's an accurate term, like "homophobic" it seems to be a catchall.
I'm not "afraid" of islam I simply don't like it or want anything to do with it.
There's no law that says everyone has to "like" something.

Two very sad and uneducated posts, neither bears much reality of Muslims living within Europe.

Politesub, it boils down to the simple fact that islamophobs really do not want to admit that fundamentalist Muslims are a minority, while at the same time they will claim that fundamentalist Christians do not speak for all Christians.

For Christianity, the Renaissance and the Inquisitions happened side by side, same with the age of enlightenment and witch burnings in Salem.

No there isn't, but the least you could do, if they are not harming you personally, is give 'em a break, live and let live and all that.

You keep throwing that word around and its bullshit, none of the posters here are "islamophobs" as you say. You though, have an obvious unfounded fear of anyone disagreeing with your extreme views... which is a known symptom of narcissism.

You might be right Sanity, hatred is probably a better word to describe some of the posts about Islam.

Any hatred we do see towards Muslims here cant hold a candle to all the Christian bashing that goes on, but even at that youre confusing a willingness to discuss the various aspects of radical Islam and Shariah law realistically with  a hatred towards all Muslims that for the most part doesnt exist.
