I think that this should be obvious.  I think that the ground is sacrosanct.  We should not build anything there, except the tower's back.

The nickname "ground-zero mosque" is misleading.

The 'mosque' is not being built on ground zero.
It isn't a mosque either, but a cultural center that has a prayer room.

The planned space is 2 blocks away, around a corner, on the site of an empty building that once was a Burlington Coat Factory.
It is a business district.

You can not see ground zero now from the proposed center's site.

edit: clarity

Build one outside of Dachau.  See how far that gets you.

Better yet, build a Japanese "cultural center" two blocks from Pearl Harbor.  See how that works.

Ridiculous comparisons and beyond simplistic.

Christians pulled off the Holocaust,btw.

Any issues building a church near Dachau?

lol

Maybe you should move to Poland and trample upon their Constitution.

Then why not go with the NY Mayor's idea of finding a different spot.  If they are really sensitive to the feelings about the mass muder.

Actually its the guvnah, not the mayor. Bloomberg is fully behind building it where it is. You can bet he wouldnt have won that third term if this were an issue last year.

luckydawg -> RE: Islamophobia in America (9/3/2010 1:49:38 PM)

Actually National Socialists "pulled off" the Holocaust. But why let facts get involved.

Jeffff -> RE: Islamophobia in America (9/3/2010 1:52:31 PM)

Just to be clear, you are saying the Nazi's were actually Socialists?

Well the mosque in question isn't going to be at ground zero it's at a Burlington Coat Factory. Despite that it was considered but the Landmarks Preservation Commission determined that a Burlington Coat Factory two blocks from ground zero didn't count.

Owner59 -> RE: Islamophobia in America (9/3/2010 1:53:51 PM)

Who were Christians.

duh....

lol

I`d rather you cons not piss on our Constitutions and leave the fact checking to honest people.

Your actually asking a conservative to give you the correct, honest, and factual answer? Your asking alot, Jeffff. You and I both know the correct answer, but how often do conservatives let 'fact' and 'evidence' get in the way of their arguement?

That's not what I wrote, so I don't know why you would think that.

Though I guess Compound Nouns are confusing to some folks.

Jeffff -> RE: Islamophobia in America (9/3/2010 1:59:01 PM)

It seems to be implied.

With some posters it is better to ask first.

Actually only some of the National Socialists were Christians.

Some were Moslem, like the SS recruiter Al Hyusani (Mufti of Jerusalem). Who gave speeches praising Hitlers "Scientific Solution" to the Jew problem. That "Scientific Solution" is the Holocaust you so glibbly refer to.

So in no way can Christianity be considered a defining characteristic of National Socialism.

In the real world.

Owner59 -> RE: Islamophobia in America (9/3/2010 2:20:39 PM)

Right......

Let`s see the breakdown in numbers?

lol

What`s the ratio of Muslim nazis to Christian nazis?

lol

luckydawg -> RE: Islamophobia in America (9/3/2010 2:29:25 PM)

Why would that matter?

If Christianity is an defining part of National Socialism as you assert, then there would be zero Moslems.

The existance of one disproves your assertion.

That he was a leader, and a recruiter, and propagandist for the Holocaust you joke about, is a fact.

You can go "LOL" all you want.

Some folks will investigate. and 100% of them will know I am right.

There were also Satanists and Athiests in the National Socialist Movement. So the Idea that it was a Christian Movement is nonsense. Something only believed by people with no sense of History or anti semtic racists.

There is a Christian Socialism, its called Liberation Theology. Nothing to do with National Socialism at all though

luckydawg -> RE: Islamophobia in America (9/3/2010 2:41:29 PM)

So evidence on the assertion of whether the National Socialists were Chrisitians has been presented.

And o59 conceeds with a silly cartoon. And that the Holocaust is something to be mocked for ideological purposes. It somehow serves Obama to make fun of the Holocaust, though I am not sure how.

That makes all republicans airport bathroom gays and all teabaggers racist and there are several other logical ramifications you won't like if that is your premise.

Ahh the reading comprehension issues again. Damn Liberal schools.

mnot that is the position 059 is taking. Not I. That some in a group have characteristic A makes A a defining characteristic of the the group. Some Natoinal Socialists were Christian, therefore National Socialism is a Christian group. Some Republicans like Gay sex in bathrooms, therefore Republicans are a bathroom gay sex loving group. Or since o59 is Logically challenged, all Left Wingers are.

Only an ignorant dolt would think that way.

But thanks for showing your language deficiences and poor grasp of Logic again.

Owner59 -> RE: Islamophobia in America (9/3/2010 3:11:36 PM)

no,mnottertail nailed your wide stance down pretty good.

jlf1961 -> RE: Islamophobia in America (9/3/2010 3:11:49 PM)

Okay, the excuse to protest the Park 51 cultural center is that it is too close to ground zero, were Muslim hijackers killed 2790 Americans, some of them Muslims. Of course the fact that some of the people who died in the WTC towers were Muslims doesnt count, or it seems that way.

Alright, If the Park 51 center is too close to ground zero, then why the protest over a new mosque in Murfeesboro TN, Staten Island NY, and Temecula CA? Or are they too close to ground zero.

I do not think that ground zero is the problem, since most of the protesters for all these sites have one argument in common.

"It (the mosque) will be training ground for terrorists and be promoting Muslim Extremism."

Among other things.

Owner59 -> RE: Islamophobia in America (9/3/2010 3:14:47 PM)

Stoking bigotry and fear seems to be the only thing cons have to offer.

Sad.
