Think about this: If you don't want to forward this for fear of offending someone -----YOU'RE PART OF THE PROBLEM !!!!

THIS WAS IN A TAMPA NEWSPAPER
Will we still be the Country of choice and still be America if we continue to make the changes forced on us by the people from other countries that came to live in America because it is the Country of Choice?

Think about it!  All we have to say is, when will they do something about MY RIGHTS?

I celebrate Christmas...........but because it isn't celebrated by everyone..............we can no longer say Merry Christmas. Now it has to be Season's Greetings.

It's not Christmas vacation, it's Winter Break. Isn't it amazing how this winter break ALWAYS occurs over the Christmas holiday?

We've gone so far the other way, bent over backwards to not offend anyone, that I am now being offended.  But it seems that no one has a problem with that.
This says it all! This is an editorial written by an American citizen, published in a Tampa, FL Newspaper.  He did quite a job, didn't he? Read on, please!

IMMIGRANTS,
NOT AMERICANS, MUST ADAPT.

I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we are offending some individual or their culture.  Since the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, we have experienced a surge in patriotism by a majority of Americans. However...... the dust from the attacks had barely settled when the "politically correct" crowd began complaining about
the possibility that our patriotism was offending others.

I am not against immigration, nor do I hold a grudge against anyone who is seeking a better life by coming to
America.
Our population is almost entirely made up of descendants of immigrants.  However, there are a few things that those who have recently come to our country, and apparently some born here, need to understand.
This idea of America being a multicultural community has served only to dilute our sovereignty and our national identity.  As Americans......we have our own culture, our own society, our own language and our own lifestyle. This culture has been developed over centuries of struggles, trials, and victories by millions of men and women who have sought freedom.

We speak
ENGLISH, not Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, or any other language. Therefore, if you wish to become part of our society, learn the language!

"In God We Trust" is our national motto. This is not some Christian right wing political slogan. We adopted this motto because Christian men and women.......on Christian principles.............
founded this nation..... and this is clearly documented. It is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls of our schools.  If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the world as your new home.........because God is part of our culture.

If Stars and Stripes offend you, or you don't like Uncle Sam, then you should seriously consider a move to another part of this planet.
We are happy with our culture and have no desire to change, and we really don't care how you did things where you came from.  This is OUR COUNTRY, our land, and our lifestyle.
Our First Amendment gives every citizen the right to express his opinion and we will allow you every opportunity to do so!
But once you are done complaining....... whining...... and griping....... about our flag....... our pledge...... our national motto........or our way of life....I highly encourage you to take advantage of one other Great American Freedom.......
THE RIGHT TO LEAVE.

It is Time for America to Speak up
.

I think (maybe I should say I would hope) that the problem isn't immigrants...... but illegal immigration.

You hit the nail on the head the key word is ILLEGAL immigration.   My parents are both German, they came to America and became LEGAL citizens. They both speak fluent English and they have embraced American customs. I dont recall them every flying the German flag.
Sorry but I feel if they are here illegally send them home, there are to many here who came legally and are trying to do it legal for these peeps to get a free ride.

Lashra, it's nice to see someone with familial experience post to these threads. Every post I see opposing illegal immigration is doing just that and not saying anything at all negative regarding legal immigration. YES we all come from ancestors of varied backgrounds and origins so none of us has the right to say "only this race, or only these people should come to the U.S." That is not what is being said at all.

The only thing I see being addressed is the fact that we are being encouraged to turn a blind eye to crime (yes, it's a crime) and say "hey, come on over!" IT'S NOT FAIR NO MATTER HOW YOU LOOK AT IT.

It's not fair to the countless legal immigrants from EVERYWHERE who spend years and years and lots of money to go through miles of red tape and difficult classes to pass the tests and requirements to become legal and, for the most part I think, proud Americans.

It's not fair for the millions of legal Americans who need free healthcare and resources, who deserve a chance to go to a school with adequate funding and can't have that because they must compete with others who technically have no rights to those resources.

It's not fair to people who do want to work and would work if these businesses would cut the crap and pay real wages with real benefits to those who would certainly be willing to do it if they needed the money and the wages hadn't been driven absurdly low by people who have no right to America's jobs anyway.
*Let me just say here that I'm willing to put my money where my mouth is and pay increased prices for the produce and products that are so cheap because of illegal labor. You'll see the benefits in other places when our children get a good and equal education, and the healthcare they need.*

I feel for all the people all over the world who don't have it as good as I do and I count my blessings daily that I live somewhere where I have freedom of speech, freedom of religion, and a right to a public education. BUT, where does it end? When do we say "enough is enough, we have to take care of our own, and worry about our own now." As I said on a previous thread I can't really blame people who want a better life and better care, but I certainly couldn't expect the country I was an illegal resident in to turn itself inside out so I can stay without having the responsibilities of all of its other citizens - the very least of which is learning the country's language.

I'm rather opinionated on this subject because I do live in a largely Hispanic state and have also lived in a state which just the opposite was the case - let me just say there was a big difference in the amount of resources available. I've also worked in several jobs where I talked with/interacted with first hand legal and illegal immigrants from South America. I feel I can speak from my own personal experiences and the instances I mention are what I have seen and know to be true.

~Ms. A~
