Practicality in the Australian climate and for our lifestyle was the reason i have an open chain ID-style bracelet of our design rather than a collar. This has been able to stay on, other than the time the clasp broke and had to get fixed, and yes, i felt naked then! However, if i had to go to hospital, Master would prefer to remove it Himself and keep it for me, though that obviously wouldn't work in an emergency. Yes i'd miss it, but He is more important to me than His symbol. Master and i also wear matching pinky fnger rings that were symbols of our early commitment towards collaring. He has broken His a few times and while it has been mended, it is still a bit fragile. So now He tries to remember to take it off when He is about to do something mechanical. It bothers Him to do so, He dislikes having to, but gives it to me to wear on one of my other fingers until He is done and then He puts it straight back on. So it's not only subs who like to wear their symbols ... My previous sub hub chose an anklet as a collar as he could wear that invisibly all the time, even at his professional job. The only time it had to come off was when he went motorcycle racing, and again, it was given to Me for safekeeping and went straight back on when he changed out of his leathers. he was racing for years before I met him, there was never a thought of having him give it up, even though it involved going overseas for months at a time every other year! Similarly, because he liked mechanically fiddling with his bikes, he chose a pocket watch rather than a wedding ring, and I would safe-keep that too. Symbols are just that, symbols.
