I am curious about something. A large number of the Doms i know are also Bikers, or at least own a Harley and enjoy both the brotherhood and lifestyle associated with those who ride. How many of you Doms/Dommes own a Harley or a comparable (not foreign) motorcycle? How much of being a biker do you think relates to your dominant side? Or vice versa?

I ride because I like to ride.  I don't see any correlation with being dominant.  Maybe some like leather and it gives them an excuse, but I'm not part of that crowd.

My most favorite previous submissive was a biker.

Much of the BDSM ethos can be traces back to the gay leather culture and WWII biker culture.

I grew up in a household where I was raised by a man who rode and rode hard. I grew up exposed to harleys and grew to love them and appreciate them. Along with the exposure to the bikes themselves there is a certain code that those who ride follow, especially if you ride with a club.

There is a formality to the roles given. There is a certain sense of the dominance parties in certain groups and those that are subserviant in a sense. There is a place for women, and it was very much in my eyes much like the roles of a submissive woman.

I remember growing up the women brining their men drinks. Tending to certain things and allowing the "men" to take the lead. I remember gaining a respect for strong men. I remember thinking that often times some of the "women" remind me of the first girl, second girl ect of a poly home simply because of the roles they often took.

I told my uncle that it was his fault because I was submissive because he made me respect a strong man and want to be behind a strong man to serve and be with a strong man. Then I related alot of the protocals I grew up around where very much like the ones for those involved in the lifestyle.

Sorry if this didn't make sense or seemed like rambeling.

I ride a Harley because I enjoy it. I call myself ElectraGlide to let others know I enjoy riding. The Harley thing goes back to being a kid and just admiring them. No other bike sounds or looks like it. I have dated and talked with many ladies that are afraid of cycles. Now many ladies are riding their own which I think is great.

Sighs...I wish it were so ..however my ex-hubby had a Harley and he was sooo not Dominant in any way shape or form..funny though he was also ex-military retired...maybe dominating personality was whipped out of him in basic?..nah...am thinking somtimes and I do not mean your Master twice but sometimes men get harleys to feel more manly somehow to make up for what they see as a lack in themselves..but that is just view point from my own experience...be well..Tempting

i ride my own, and i'm submissive.  C rides his own and he's anything BUT submissive.

You know, if you dig deep enough you can find commonalities in many different things, but none of it will ever be the "norm"

I couldn't agree more Tempting, but the same thing hold true in many walks of life... just look at the dominants that claim that title just to make up for what they lack in life.

I guess in my mind I would have to look at the opposite end of the spectrum. Being a Dom married to a Domme, often my attention is directed at profiles of male submissives who ride Harleys. When I see these I have a difficult time in my mind of putting that combination together, so I would have to admit I apparently sense something dominant about a Harley rider because of that. I ride, just a John stated he rides, because I like to, or because it's just something I do, but I do think there may be some inadvertent essence of power derived from that. I don't think we thrive on that & I'm fairly sure we don't do it on purpose to project that image, but I do know I would have a tough time feeling real Dominant on a Honda Rebel or anything similar. I suppose it's the perception one has of what is a power symbol (or not). I don't think it's dis-similar to someone operating heavy machinery, or doing a job that requires an enourmous amount of courage...the perception they leave with willing recipients, is of being Dominant...even if by accident. Of course I wouldn't suggest walking up to the next Hawg rider you meet and asking him if he was submissive..lol.

Hmmm, I ride a Harley. I found it was easier to have my own - that way I can follow my own road, rather than ride along on someone else's journey. I found my love of the life of BDSM before I found my love of the wind in my hair. I cannot say that my Harely is any more related to my being a Dom than any other aspect of my personality. I like things my way.

I beg to differ. Harley Davidson Sportsters were specifically designed for racing and are still used for such today. In 1953 Harley produced the KR track racer and the KRM hare scrambles and trials bike. Today Harley still produces 883 road racing models.

IF you are interested in racing Harleys you can contact; AHDRA-All Harley Drag Racing Assc., the AMA- American Motorcycle Assc., ECRA-East Coast Racing Assc., or NASB/FUSA-North American Super Bike/Formula USA.

I personally have been an AMA registered off road racer since the age of 12. At 44 i still am. I am a C class hare scrambler and flat tracker, an A class ice racer, and certified motorcycle safety instructor. I have raced a Sporty for both indoor and outdoor flat track. I was once privileged to take out a Harley trials bike. I also street ride a HD.

All of these folks including myself are quite dissapointed to be told you cannot race Harleys.

Oh yes, i am also a submissive female(ok i could not resist that, most people hear motorcycle racer and think guy not girl).

I presently own all the parts of a custom Harley... but am still building it in the garage. However, I do presently ride a huge touring bike (Honda Goldwing), I have been to several biker rallies though. I do see some lifestyle people there... but like in the vanilla world, it is only a small percentage of the crowd (I think). I personally don't see much of a correlation between being a biker and the lifestyle... though maybe there is some weird genetic predisposition between the two?? ;-) LOL

But they can't beat a top Japanese bike in a race. (assuming the rider is a neutral factor)

I dress in my black leather chaps and jacket and then ride my Moped to work. I think it shows I'm secure within myself........or just too damn cheap to buy a Harley?

Really?  Tell that to Chris Carr, Joe Kopp or Scott Parker.  If you want to road race, you can always ride a Buell.

Please guys, lets not get into a pissing contest about bikes.  We have more than enough to argue about without adding the typical Harley's vs. Everybody else BS.

You ride two wheels, you ride two wheels...
