I started riding in 69...it didn't have anything to do with the lifestyle...it was more the freedom to go wherever I wanted without being boxed in...I've put a lot of seat time on Ester..yeah I know...she has a name...but she's my baby...of all the scooters..why a Harley....because being the rebel I am...it was natural to put my butt on something that at that time...most blacks didn't.....once I got the feel of that rumble under me...I haven't looked back.....

and by the way....Bike Week is coming in Myrtle Beach in just a couple of weeks...so if you're in town...stop by Suck Bang Blow...you'll see me...I'm like that fly in the buttermilk...ya can't miss me.....jacket says...Give Me Head..Til I'm Dead.....see it does kinda stand out...lol

I ride. But not a Harley.
I don't consider riding a lifestyle. My hobbies or pleasures do not include Me in any brotherhoods ( I choose My friends by who they are )
Anyone can get a loan and buy things. I don't judge anyone by wether they ride a MC or drive a Toyota as being a real clue to who they are.
Great people and assholes ride Harleys, and don't too.

I'm much too chicken to ever own a motorcycle, and would do everything in my power to discourage my siblings from buying one...  However, I absolutely can understand the charm and allure of having one and riding one, so that I will hopefully one day ride behind someone (hint to scooter/jewel  ).  M

I can only speak for Myself but there's nothing wrong being Dominant and being a biker. To Me being a biker means having a heart and understanding the bond with fellow/sister bikers which I think makes for a great combination for any Dom/me.

[Chuckle] I've been riding since 1969, and to me, being a biker means owning a bike.

I guess I'm just spiritually challenged

I think there is a huge chasm between dominance and being dominant.  One is just how things are and the other you have to work at.

I've known quite a few bikers in my life, although I've never actually been one, and a few of them 99 out of 100 people will say "Yes Sir" to if they got in someone's face.  Granted, G.F.B.D. as a tattoo on the back of their neck tends to make me want to give them a wide berth, but hey, that's just self preservation. LOL

One of the most dominant people I have ever known was a back up for a pro rollerblading team.  It ain't what you own.  It's just who you are.

Am looking to find a good harley man for myself here but not having any damn luck.  please someone help meeeeeeeee !!!   louise.

Just for you Louise.

Notice to all Harley riders and Bikers here on Collarme;

Please if you ride put it in your profile. Better yet put a photo of your sled in there. When I was searching I would type in search terms like biker, Harley, rides, and trash (lol, it works guys and girl’s my Master’s name is ScooterTrash) hoping to find the bikers on here. One of my few MUST have’s when describing what I was looking for stated “Harley riders only”.

Doms, Dommes, subs, slaves, switches, if you ride chances are there is your opposite on here who may just be looking for a partner who also rides.

I understand what you are saying, but have to agree only to a point. Perhaps judging someone by "strictly" what they drive or wear is somewhat presumptuous, but generally the combination of that and other traits does tell you quite a bit about the personality of that person. If I run into someone who drives a BMW, wears Dockers with regularity and enjoys fancy dinner parties....they are probably not going to be interested in what I am. By the same token, I see someone on a old panhead, in leathers, kickin back at a charity run, I'm pretty sure we have something in common. I'm not a low life by any stretch, but I'm also not a hob-nobbing aristocrat...I think the combination of what I wear, what I ride or drive, where I live, who I like to be around, the activities I enjoy, etc., do in fact project who I am. I tend to bump the high and the low ends of the spectrum, so I don't have an issue with chatting with the Mayor, fitting in at the ballet or knocking down a brew with the local HOG chapter members. I don't do these things on purpose to display who I am, but I do think it's just the sum of these items that somewhat describe who you are. Sure, there are those who will fake it and live beyond their means (or below, depending on their goal) in an effort to portray themelves in a different light, but most generally utilizing material things to get a glimpse of that person is not necessarily a bad thing. IMHO.

I had a motorcycle license before I had a car license. What makes me very sad is the brand identification. What does it matter what kind of bike you ride? As long as you love riding that is all that counts.  Stereo types brand us in all types of lifestyles.  I ride a sport bike ( and yes I have heard every single rude name for them) but  I have also toured all through the mid-west and east coast in the US , won a spot in the 90's as runner-up Queen of Americade (we had to go with runner up since I'm Canadian *s*) it was based on riding skill  and knowledge. There are goofs on  any style of bike that will make the rest of the people riding that brand specific look bad. I know, I've had to scrape a few of them up off the highway.   But it comes down to being able to ride, wether it's a Harley a Kawasaki, A  Honda, a Vespa or a Moped they all have two wheels ( well some even have more if you get into trikes and sidecars)  That is why you will see (for the most part) most motorcyclist will give a wave when they pass each other, we are strangers but  still belong to something a litte diffrent than everybody else.

*tucks her soap box under her arm and takes a bow*

Sorry I normally don't rant like that but we really all have to stick together to help the image that people see us all as  dirty, nasty scary bikers. They tend to miss out on all the charity work that the motorcycle community as a whole participates in.

It's also an exscuse to wear leather

Having the "big one" in whatever shape it takes...isn't dominance.
It seems more a show off thing...aka see what I have?  I have a Harley, I MUST be successful.
Saying your a biker is one thing, naming the type you own, another.

I have never once seen "I own 6 genuine Louis Vuitton bags" or "I own 10 Vera Wang gowns" in a womans ad.

Greetings, all-

I have been riding for 27 years, since I stole my first bike from my grandfathers garage after his furneral ('38 Indian four) and winding up, nineteen motorcycles later, with my BMW K100, and a Honda Hawk (see my profile for pics). At this point, I have lived more years without cars that without bikes, and haven't owned a car for more than a few months since 1993. I ride daily, year round in New York, and have ridden from NY to Ca, Caribou Me, and Key West Fl. My Bikes are never trucked or trailed, ecept when broken, and I do all my own work.

I think that makes me a biker, though I tend to resist the definition (I can't be a real biker- I have a stright job<g>). The local HA chapter usuallly gives me props as being a hardcore biker (specially when they show up at the local in their cars, and I on the bike- and it's snowing<g>).

There have been four Harleys in the mix, and my general comment is that I am too old for Harleys- or too smart, but one way or another, I out grew 'em <g>.

Now the Motor Company has made some great strides, and are no longer producing the sort of product that nearly doomed them, and yes, the V-Rod is a hella Machine (but so is the Viper, and it's not the first thing I think of when someone says 'Dodge'), but a weekend rider on a harley makes a soccer moms Hummer look like a practrical choice. It's at the point where I can't call most 'Choppers' custom- you don't order a chopper from a catalogue, and if you bought it that way, it's not custom. A chopper is what happens when your buddy wrecks his bike, and you have a welder in your garage. The best choppers I have seen in recent years started life as a Bonneville and a BMW /2 .

That said, to me, it's more important that you ride, that what you happen to be riding.

As to the OP, Its been a few years since I was sure I wore leathers because I ride- lately I wonder if I ride so i can wear leathers<g>.
Stay warm,
Lawrence

Hee!  This reminds me of my first munch, just a couple of months ago.  One guy started hitting on the newbie, telling me about how dominant he was and how he rode a Harley.

So he was trying to impress me by telling me about all the terribly kinky and scary things he could do to me.  Then he got to:  "And then there's nutcrackers.  Great for using on the breasts!"

So of course I had to come back with, "Nutcrackers?  Better be careful of those, you have to sleep some time!"   And he freaked!  He started spluttering about how terribly he would punish me for such an offense.  And the only possible answer to that was "It's hard to punish a masochist!"

So he hopped onto his Harley pronto and fled.

Hello everyone.

I'm sorry ... This is probably going to rub everyone's feathers the wrong way.

But I honestly just don't get the whole "Harley riders only." thing ...  Every man I've ever dated has put me through the torture of being dragged from one motorcycle shop to another while he grunted, sat on the bikes, debated, and basically got himself into a panting frenzy over which one he'd eventually buy. To me ... They pretty much all look the same, they all have the same potential for fun or, in the wrong hands, serious disaster.

I'm not against motorcycles ... I am afraid of them. I'm also afraid of cars ...

My nephew lost his legs at the age of 25 in a motorcycle accident. He doesnt remember the pain but he does clearly remember looking across the highway and there are his legs on the other side ... That just horrifies me. My niece lost her fiance in a motorcycle accident ... He got mad at her because she wouldn't ride with, threw his helmet into her arms and whipped out of her driveway ... And right into the back of a truck. He was thrown 20 feet and died three days later.

What troubles me is the mentality some people get when they get on a motorcycle. I was looking at them with a friend of mine just the other day and the salesman mentioned that men like bigger bikes because its a statement about their manhood. It was all I could not to look at him and say, "Yeah, it must be a bitch having a 2 inch penis, hmm?"

I know this isn't everyone ... Probably isn't even the majority. I honestly just don't get it ...

I get ... The wind in your face. The power harnessed between your legs ... I even get the whole brotherhood/sisterhood thing. I don't get the 'lifestyle' aspects of it ... But thats just me.

I'd be forced to slap any man who referred to me as his 'old lady' ... That was simply how I was raised. My father made the mistake of calling my mother that one time in their 40 year marriage. He never did it again.

So yes ... If that just ticked everyone off, I am sorry ... I just dont get it. lol
