MstrFury -> RE: Are women as shallow as men? (4/24/2006 7:44:50 AM)

I really had to do some heavy duty thinking on this one....so let me see...if I'm so deep..if I were a body of water...you wouldn't get the bottoms of your feet wet....and if you're looking through a window and see nothing...I'm that missing screen ( hope you have a fly swatter <g>).....if my looks were important...you'd only want to see me at night with the lights out.....I challenge any woman to be as shallow as me.....come on I dare you.....see no takers.....so what was the point of the question....

MissyRane -> RE: Are women as shallow as men? (4/24/2006 7:48:29 AM)

I'm deep omy I can't even find the bottom of my...deepness...but then..I've never been a good liar so I'll just admit it..UGH I'm shallow.

thetammyjo -> RE: Are women as shallow as men? (4/24/2006 8:05:36 AM)

Sorry, I can't answer this because I think the question is flawed.

I don't think men as a group or women as a group are much of any particular personality trait or behavior.

I prefer to see people as individuals until they show themselves to be placeable into a category.

Hey now...what is this dependence on men nonsense?  Pffffft...I've never depended on a man for anything other than his sperm and I didnt even ask for those.  I think shallowness depends more on AGE than anything else.  Younger people (teenies and early twentiers) tend to be more shallow than older people.  Too much MTV and BET.

Damn, you are hot!

I don't know how I missed this post the first time around. What wonderful challenge![sm=boxer.gif][;)]

Are women as shallow as men?

Nicely worded trick question [:)] If I say yes, then I am agreeing that all men are shallow, and that women are just the same. If I say no, then it can be seen as me saying that women are less judgemental than men.
Now, if you had asked " Who is more shallow; men or women" ; the question takes on a different perspective. In that instance, I would say that from my personal experience, I have found women to be more shallow than men ( and this is based solely on my own personal experiences, it is not a sweeping generalization ). From those whom I know personally, and have come into contact with casually; most of the women look for men who are physically attractive, muscular, tall, physically fit, and finacially stable. Whereas the men look for intelligence, humor, able to communicate effectively; with looks and body proportions coming up behind the rest.
( Again, I want to stress that this observation comes only from my own encounters with others. It is in no way meant to be a sweeping generalization )

Personally, for myself, yes, I like for a man to look good; physically. But that is not what will hold my attention. I enjoy good conversations that center around a variety of subjects; someone who I am talking with needs to be able to keep up [:)] If they can't hold my attention with conversation then they will not be holding on to me for long.

Oh, so close.

CreativeDominant -> RE: Are women as shallow as men? (4/27/2006 2:35:34 PM)

I wouldn't say that "men are shallow". Some are...some are not. I suspect the same is true for many women. On the whole, I would have to say that my own observations have led me to the conclusion that there are [B]fewer{/B] women than men who are shallow.

Reasonable -> RE: Are women as shallow as men? (4/27/2006 2:42:09 PM)

I'm always struck by the woman in my area that just HAS to have a guy with a "flat top hair cut".

It's always somethin..........[:-]

CreativeDominant -> RE: Are women as shallow as men? (4/27/2006 3:00:23 PM)

I wonder if she'd be interested in me...[:D]My hair is getting about as flat to the top of my head as it can...[:@]

FelinePersuasion -> RE: Are women as shallow as men? (4/27/2006 6:30:02 PM)

the size or not of my mans wallet never entered into my interest in him.  not then, not now not at all. I have more money than he does, and easier axcess to it. And it don't matter to either of us.

do not make generalizations for every single female out there.

I think women are usually shallow when it comes to the size of a mans wallet and men are shallow when it comes to the size of a woman’s breasts it is just the way nature made people women look for supportive males and men look for women who will produce healthy babies. I don’t think you can really decide which sex is more shallow by discussing their personality traits men are usually strong and supportive and women are usually deep and emotional though that does not mean that I think members from ether sex cant be all of the above.

I personally don’t think there is a difference between the sexes in terms of who is more shallow it is just that men and women work in different ways.

Some people are shallow; some people are not.

That's really what it boils down to.  Any "men vs. women" questions are going to get a variety of answers and speculations which will ultimately flare some tempers.

As for the argument of women being shallow because their husbands supported them...it is laughable, unless of course one thinks raising a family and running a household in days prior to television, technology, conveniences such as washer and driers and dishwashers (oh my!)....does not require cognitive and strategic thinking, planning and organization skills, budget management skills, and incredible patience, to name a few.  Oh wait - the same skills needed in the work force!!

not a man v. woman question.

DoNotDisobey -> RE: Are women as shallow as men? (4/27/2006 8:25:31 PM)

There seems to be some widely differing definitions of "shallowness" here so it might help if the OP defined what the term means as used in the original question.

Till then, I'm not game to reply as there's about four or five different definitions coming through in other comments and if I were to cover them all, I'd have a Doctoral thesis and wouldn't be wasting it on you lot [:D]

rapture2778 -> RE: Are women as shallow as men? (4/29/2006 6:16:32 AM)

ok the actual word shallow means "not intellectually profound;  not deep"  i think that at times men are more shallow than women, and at times women are more shallow than men, and sometimes we are all shallow....so all in all i would say men and women are equally shallow...it just seems to women men are more so because what we feel is different and vice versa for men....

LaTigresse -> RE: Are women as shallow as men? (4/29/2006 6:23:10 AM)

Wow.........this thread is still slogging along. I must 100% agree with a post days ago by, I think, John Warren. Some PEOPLE are shallow and some are not. It is as simple as that.

Don't give me a knee jerk reaction. Think about this one.

I think your question sucks quite frankly.  I am not shallow at all, and have proven this consistently over the course of years.  I do not even appreciate the insinuation that I might be.  A clarification probably would have gone a long way.

genvieve -> RE: Are women as shallow as men? (4/29/2006 1:19:57 PM)

Yes, definately, without a doubt.  As a group, as a whole, women and men are shallow in their own ways.  We each have an aesthetic that pleases us, we each have a body type, a personality type, a monitary value that we expect O/our partners to have.

i could not be with someone that i was not attracted to physically on a very basic level.  That being said, there are many different unatractive qualities that can be overlooked, or don't matter.  Things can be compensated for in other areas.  One of my favorite quotes, after all is "It's not the size of the prize, but the throb of the nob that does the job"

i'm babbling again.  ~laughs at CD's comment~  Yes... that's right... i'm not like most women, i am unique.  ~snort~

IronBear -> RE: Are women as shallow as men? (4/29/2006 3:45:55 PM)

And a few of you thought I was joking when I said that it depends what part you run the depth sounder over..... I was dead serious and I sunmmed up in that comment what y'all have said.... Just think about it.. [;)]
