thornhappy -> RE: A word of warning, don't insult the president (9/13/2010 7:07:33 PM)

I saw a figure here awhile back that said he's getting about 1200 threats per month.  Bush 43 got about 300 per month.

servantforuse -> RE: A word of warning, don't insult the president (9/13/2010 7:09:04 PM)

I guess he shouldn't have signed that new health care bill.

THELADY -> RE: A word of warning, don't insult the president (9/13/2010 7:13:07 PM)

yes obama hates the brits because they imprisioned his grandfather for taking part in a rebilion.

and its obivous in how he has snubed them so many times.

but that being what it is, I doupt he had anything to do with this case. and threats are wrong, period.

A quick Google brings up a number of 30 a day, or roughly 900 a month Thorns, but that story is better than a year old. I would hope it's gone down some by now, but his incessant partisanship and never missing an opportunity to further polarize the country can't be helping.

HIS partisanship ? If this guy was an American under Bush...the right would call him a traitor like they did just about everybody else in dissent.

That is the new right today...everybody who disagrees with them...is now a traitor. The repub party today is the party of no...even on bills they help write.

The right today has nothing...absolutely nothing to offer this country but war, record deficits directly as a result of tax cuts for their patrons, bitching and demagoguery...and predominantly on issues they when in power, failed to enact policy.

His incessant partisanship?

As I recall, he made every effort to compromise.  Compromise to the point he was even alienating those who elected him.

That didn't work with the party of  no.  Since Obama was elected there has never been any attempt by Republicans to try and govern responsibly and work with the administration.

As I've said before, this is Clinton redux.

The GOP has only one goal, getting back in power, and they really don't care how much it harms the country in doing so.  In fact, they want to provide as much obstruction as possible to limit any positive effects of any Democratic initiative.

There are absolutely no other reasons for their opposition to proposals they have supported in the past other than they are now being introduced by Democrats.

I can give you examples Willbeur.

Can you?

And no, I will not put them up first because you constantly spout off nonsense that you refuse to back up.

So if you really want to air this out then show me examples of Republican attempts at compromise.

Go for it. Youre the one who made the claim that hes tried to compromise.

TheHeretic -> RE: A word of warning, don't insult the president (9/13/2010 8:35:33 PM)

Yeah, Rodg. HIS partisanship. HIS polarizing positions and decisions.

Gee, wonder what he is going to say when he realizes that the Health Care Bill that was passed was basically the same things the Republicans proposed during the Clinton administration?

Or the fact that even when Republican amendments and ideas are included in legislation the Republicans still vote NO?

not even close
Or the fact that even when Republican amendments and ideas are included in legislation the Republicans still vote NO?

name any substantive ideas that have been included in a version of a bill that was brought to a vote that didnt also include provisions that are so awful no conserative could vote for them

Come on Willbeur, how hard is this?

Let's start with the abandoning of the public option and the many other giveaways on the health care bill.

Yet, not one Republican voted for the bill despite the compromises.

TheHeretic -> RE: A word of warning, don't insult the president (9/13/2010 8:48:31 PM)

I want to wish you much fun dancing with Wilbur, RML, but before I wander off again, let's just point out that President Obama has both chambers of Congress under Dem control, but Google gives me 11.5 million hits on "Obama blamed Repuplicans."

Is he the most partisan American in America? Of course not (but somebody will probably try to argue against that position instead of a real one). He is makes partisan statements on a regular basis. It doesn't help when he does that.

Why is religion and politics a subforum under CASUAL([sm=friends.gif]) banter? Shouldn't it belong in the "[sm=fight.gif] come armed and ready to fight" forum? [sm=yahoo.gif]

Broad based compromises in the health care bill? A bill that is so anti-capitalist that even a lot of Dems hated it? This is so laughable an example its pitiful.

That's a common refrain among Republicans that both chambers are Democratically controlled, but it has never been reality.

The reality is that Democrats held the slimmest margin possible for a filibuster proof-majority for a short time.  They no longer have that majority, but even with that majority it was still possible for the minority party to block legislation with any of a number of methods.

As far as partisanship, I'm personally glad to see him going after the GOP.

Did you forget the comments made by the Republican leadership that there would be no compromises?

This is an example of why nothing you say can be taken seriously.
