I personally don't care for the "I find Myself so Dominant, I can barely stand Myself" type of writing, but hey. Life goes on.

I believe that grammatically, though I'm far from an English teacher, the word Dom/mes falls under the same rule structuring that one would use for s/he.

As for the rest of the drivellous argument, A/all is not grammatically correct because it refers to station in life as opposed to gender and seperating people by Dominant or submissive is not something covered in the rules of grammar.

Ahhhh, I see. So she slips by with that one... much thanks for the clarification, BastianDuVane.

And there are a great many native English speakers who wouldn't know what to do with a dangling participle if it came up to them and goosed them.)  The rule would be no different here soley because this is a BDSM board.  If I were to read something I found so improperly worded as to be incomprehensible, I'm more than likely to skim it and move on.  There's more in my life I need to worry over...or should I say over which I need to worry?

So, benji might score more often if he changed his profile to include beating his mate with his ten inch "dangling participle".....

And LOL at "Conan the Grammerian"...

JohnWarren -> RE: BDSM and first-grade grammar rules. (4/23/2006 11:04:42 AM)

While I do get annoyed at the U/upper L/lower speech, I don't see much merit or practicality in this kind of a vainglorious presentation.  Obviously, those who use this kind of writing are aware that they are not using standard composition, and simply declaring by fiat that they are wrong doesn't to much other than feed a self-evident arrogance on your part.  This is made all the more amusing to those of us who use standard by the liberties you obviously feel entitled to take with your own capitalization.

The problem with this, of course, is a 10" dangling cyber participle only equates to a 3" dangling participle in real life.

The conversions rates are a bitch.

Celeste,

This is a grammar thread, try to stay on topic.  Conversions rates should be conversion rate.  No S after conversion.

If only you were actually only a bit a trouble.

benji

while i'm all for proper grammar (and one of my degrees is actually in linguistics) i tend to type in lowercase letters for the sake of expediency.

obviously if i'm writing a term paper then the points you brought up would matter. online, it's really not that big of a deal if people get the basic jist of what someone is saying.

with that being said i get annoyed with the Y/you sorta thing, but at the end of the day- i still understand them so who cares?

methinks someone needs a hobby.

If this is the most annoying practice you've seen, you're either in for a shocker or you've had very limited exposure. . .

Maybe(or should that be Possibly?) her hobby is correcting grammar in on-line forums. [;)]

Saratov,

Perhaps would seem to be the optimal word to begin your preceding post.

In my defense, that was a proofing error on top of a typing error. I have 3/4" long nails which converts to at least 2.5" in cyber. You try to type with 2.5" long nails and see how well you do! ;P

SweetSarijane -> RE: BDSM and first-grade grammar rules. (4/23/2006 11:30:13 AM)

There are grammatical adjustments that annoy me, but it's in my opinion more important to focus on what a person writes than how they write it grammatically speaking. Everyone has their own style that works for them, and for many English is not their first language or they are dyslexic, etc. Just because something's not written to preferred specifications in one's own opinion doesn't mean that person isn't saying something of value. Looking beyond the grammar, etc. to what's actually being said can be very enlightening.

[laughing] Your comment made me remember a couple who violated the "keep out" sign on our bedroom during a party and did a waxing scene on our bed leaving the Bellino Moddrian 600 count sheets dotted with multicolor wax sploches.

This was a bit more annoying than improper capitization.

This wasn't a horse, just a poor pony.  It's dead now, why not find something with a little more substance to discuss.

Feastie,

Kicking a dead pony is even cuter than a dead horse!  Besides, we're so good at it on here.  Hey, why is no one replying to my messages?  My profile clearly says I want a bitch to cook and clean for me, and I'll beat her with my 10" cock every day!

Yours,

benji

I'll get right on that benji...soon as my show is over, k?

Celeste,

Truble is cute, endearing: "Awwww....  she just a widdwe biddy trublemaker....  isn't she cute????", then I could pinch your cheek, pat your head and call you a brat.

Trouble is what you are.  Not truble, trouble.  I'd say with a capital T, but then that would make it Godly.

Yours,

benji

I can't help but notice you capitaized Fairfield, Ohio, and Anne Rice in your profile.  Are you saying these things are like God?

So we have different rules here online.  Do I use them?  Sometimes in PMs, not in the forums.  Do I think they're right?  If someone wants to use them, go for it.  Better someone who makes "mistakes" on purpose than someone who dusnt no how tu spel or use bad gramer and mayks long sentancez and dusnt no wat hes taking abot.

As to capitalizing Master, Master, Mistress, Dom, Himself etc...  is often in lieu of a name.  Why should someone not be allowed to expect his nic(please don't kill me for calling Master a nic) to be capitalized??????

As to T/this, it makes it hard to read, just as when this slave writes about this slave's Mistress, whom this slave does not believe exists.  I have to say, it reduces legibility.  But you know what?  WE TIE EACH OTHER UP, BEAT EACH OTHER WITH CANES, AND NAIL BALLS TO A BOARD!!!!!  If annoying typing is the worst result thereof we have it good.

Yours,

benji

Your so funny, I got a big laugh at that one.
