Once i could pass up...but twice? I want to hear that story

Arpig,

You may be very surprised to hear this....  I lied.  We never threw Tim anywhere.  But don't tell anyone, okay?

High school, quad and Senior lawn. Let anyone but a Senior touch that lawn and it was dumpster dump time. Not once or twice, but everytime. I don't think a week went by that the guys didn't dump at least one lowly Freshman into the dumpster.

Ah.. the good old days. ;) These days, you'd get sued, your parents would get sued, the school would get sued and they'd probably tear out the lawn.

That's the good thing about Canada (I say it as if it were the only good thing...  lol)

We don't sue each other at every turn.  It's not like it used to be, but we still have a lot less suing going on.  My high school did have some of that stuff still going, though nothing that extreme....

benji

To the OP,

Sweetie, if you think this is bad on things, when many are trained to reply and respond this way in the Lifestyle, you are in for a shock on your innocent 18 yr old mind.

Wait until you obeserve a Gorean chat room as an observer.  *Chuckles.

Poor girl. You have much to learn on the Lifestyle. But thank you for the chuckle sweetie and the "grammar" lesson.  Will you be teaching english classes next, or how to tell people how to do profiles?

There is a story in the Corps of a recruit at Parris Island who made the double mistake of walking on the grass and doing so in the view of a Drill Instructor (capitalized for deification purposes, since that does seem to be part of the debate)

The DI looked him down and snarled, "There are only three classes of people who can walk on Parris Island lawns: Drill Instructors, officers (notice the lack of capitalization) and Jesus Christ.  You ain't old enough to be a DI; you ain't pretty enough to be an officer... that's it, you are Jesus Christ.

Then he walked away.

The next morning a duce and a half drove up to the recruit's barracks during morning formation and unloaded a cross made from two 4x4s.  Guess who had the privilege of carrying said cross for the rest of the day?

I love subs who are good at oral French.  (Of course, I prefer oral Latin, but I'm not a picky sort.  I'm not really into oral Greek.)

the good thing about the OP?? she has a right to her opinions, she even has a right to voice them as long as her opinions dont infringe on the rights of another.

good thing about us?? we have the right to listen or not.... our choice.

remember there are always the click delete ignore buttons....and we have the right to use them when ever we feel the need to.

gooddogbenji -> RE: BDSM and first-grade grammar rules. (4/23/2006 7:26:31 PM)

Yeah, but we also have the God given duty to mock mercilessly anyone we don't agree with.  Besides, it's more fun.

Kedikat -> RE: BDSM and first-grade grammar rules. (4/24/2006 1:06:23 AM)

I found the Capitalization thing to be silly at first too. But I realized after a while, that it is like part of a language that is specific to this realm. You do not spell out numbers when writing mathematical equations.
The concept of the caps in BDSM can help dramatically to know where a person is coming from in their statements. It obviously helps people who are seeking a partner, to know who is saying what.
In a realm where the subjects, comments and opinions stated can be considered so differently considering the aspect of the person saying them, the clue of capitalization is very helpful.

Having said all this. I must apologise for My past arguements about it.

MstrTiger -> RE: BDSM and first-grade grammar rules. (4/24/2006 2:15:14 AM)

I generally when people are chatting in a chat room they are trying to put some of their personality into what it is that they are saying I think that the over punctuation of comments generally kills that. People in chat rooms are also generally trying to respond to people as quickly as possible given that it is meant to be like a conversation so they automatically cut out all the things that are irrelevant and concentrate totally on the point they are trying to make.

VvShadowspawnvV -> RE: BDSM and first-grade grammar rules. (4/24/2006 6:49:31 PM)

We are not presenting position papers here. We are not submitting stories for publication. Due to the wonders of instant messaging and live chat, what we are doing here is, basically, conversing. When I converse with people, there are various ways to show respect, emotion, or humor through facial expressions and body language. Here, I am limited to letters. So, rather than lowering my eyes, or dipping my head, I may type "i" and "You". Also- it occasionally amuses me to dangle a participle or double a negative when "speaking" with someone who will recognize it for the good-humored facetiousness that it is. It also occasionally amuses me to type with a southern accent, if'n y'all know what ah mean. Let's hear it for personality.

EbonyFtshGoddess, that nose ring is hot. =)

They want to install a light switch in a sheet of plywood.  Not sure why they want this, or why it concerns you, but that is most likely what they mean.

It' s all part of the first-grade grammar that's been being talked about here... LOL

I'm not, "this chick." I prefer Rosa, or Rosanegra. As for who told me I was room monitor, no one. A few friends read a livejournal post of mine on this subject and suggested I paste it to some forums.

I'm sorry you're getting such extreme and defensive reactions and also rather idiotic and humorless (although not to them!)  chortling over your post, but I like threads like this because the responses in them clearly separate the children from the adults. And in BDSM-land, that is always very useful information to have! Good luck to you.

When chatting, the one thing you mentioned that I do is not capitalize words at the beginning of sentences. I do it because I am trying to type as quickly as I can. If I am chatting privately with someone I know well, I also do not worry about going back and correcting my typos. They know me well enough to know what I was trying to say and that, if I wanted to, I could say it gramatically.

In all other written venues, however, I try to apply the rules of standard English as best I know them, unless I am purposefully clowning around.  I think it helps a lot to do so as it serves to indicate to others who care about non-sloppy  language usage and the avoidance of invented verbal affectations that I am "one of them." :)

swtnsparkling -> RE: BDSM and first-grade grammar rules. (4/25/2006 9:23:38 AM)

I have not been in school for 30 years. And I don't like being told how to type here on a dang message board. I'll type any way  i see fit at any time in what ever way i am in the mood at the time. i am not here to be graded or approved of,, I enjoy the board and  some times I like to respond it is that simple no more no less.

slavejenna -> RE: BDSM and first-grade grammar rules. (4/25/2006 9:42:54 AM)

Wow ... I'm amazed at the fact that you had the nerve to post this.  People on the internet in general will type how they want.  You aren't going to change that fact with this post.

And how dare you take an entire group of people and make judgements on them.  My self-esteem is not tied in to how I type or write.  And if you really feel that this is something that is true, I suggest some therapy.
