Did someone mention Alan Rickman?  Hmmm... purrrrrrrrrrrrrrr....

Shemar Moore (Criminal Minds - of course)
LL Cool J in Swat (heck, ALL the men in SWAT just about) but he's the one who says "Who's your daddy now?".
Olivier Martinez in Unfaithful and Vincent Perez, Queen of the Damned (I love the Latino Frenchmen!)
Charlie of Charlie's Angels - come on... you know he was!
Christine Cagney
Johnny Depp in Chocolat
Oded Fehr in The Mummy
Toby Keith
Chow Yun Fat, Anna and the King
Yul Brenner, same character (do you think the King of Siam was... well never mind)
Ryu Jin in Capital Scandal (Korean drama - silly, but he was the bright shining reason to watch it.  So brooding and strong.)
Will.I.Am, heck all of the Black Eyed Peas for that matter!
Original Sin ... everybody...
Anthony Hopkins in.... well... anything.

Tom Cruise in Collateral - I had never really been attracted to him ever, until and since that movie.

Twoshoes: TV comedy (before sum-y'all were born) "Mr.Ed" - and I don't mean that Wilbur was the D-type.  Lordy!  That horse knew EXACTLY how to keep Wilbur in line!  I always wondered about my attraction...... glad it wasn't beastiality.   <BIG horse laugh>

Honestly, I had no clue about any of those shows, Lance, so I had to go "research". I think the difficulty involved in understanding your references may have been intended.  So, I'm now going to associate you with TV shows forever.

Clint Eastwood is sooo young in that. That horse does influence the agenda more than your average barn animal. Wilbur does seem to require "guidance".

quote:

The sergeant's attitude toward his men has been described thus: "They were his men and if anyone was going to take them, it was going to be him and only him."

Sounds pretty damn Domly to me.  The "take them" refers to scams, so I caution you thusly:  Careful, Sgt.Bilko has some characteristics you do NOT want to emulate.  However, that's what role models are for.  YOU must pick-n-choose, not make a carbon-copy!!!

"Take them", eh?
That was an interesting example. He definately is both funny and tells everyone what to do. I realized he's too expressive for me to emulate, though. (Perhaps too extroverted.)

So, on second thought, I might have a better chance at pulling off some of those quieter types. Now, if Snape could be funny, even occasionally, I'd be set.

OKAY - Comedy is "against type"  Sergeant being "ruler" of Camp almost to exclusion of Major/Colonel.  Horse talking and "leading" his suppposed owner (by ring in his nose.)  Whose nose?  Remember that leashes have two ends.

So, for a BDSM D-type to be "funny" said D-type runs against the crumedgon stereotype.  As I said above..... to me BDSM is serious fun.  Bungee jumping is FUN (or so I've heard.)  Become an expert in one or two BDSM areas and then take your bottom for "the ride of their lives."  You can always ask, "Wasn't that FUN?"

A great sense of humor is almost nescessary for any D-type.  Slap-stick and practical jokes have an almost 100% chance of back-firing in BDSM.  I, personally, never did like either.  Still don't understand the Three Stooges.  What is funny about harming someone.  HURTing them in a humorous way..... Lots of role-plays are based on suspension of belief.  "I am your King.  You are the slave wench.... "  Take it from there...... one can have GREAT fun with such a scenario. and others.  Sapce explorer and alien life form...... And you do NOT need elaborate costumes.  Just a reminder.  Haloween in the thrift shops?  A favorite..... Take the slave there and make them try on outrageously-sized garments, especailly gender crossing - clownish.  Make them wear them home..... once you've returned, you can reward them for their bravery or punish them.... etc.

I'll have to "fess up"... I'm a closet Vin Diesel fan, the man makes me squirm in everything he does but my favorite is Riddik and then there is Anthony Hopkins and I can't think of a character he played that isn't  Dominant and for all the Trekkies... give me Piccard over Kirk any day!

Detective Elliott Stabler of Law & Order: SVU. yes, the character, not the actor. He's old-fashioned, a good catholic, protective, cocky, fertile as heck and has serious anger management issues. it all makes for a deliciously sexy combination that i find irresistible!! (and that my Master finds very annoying, lol)

I suspect that Groucho Marx was a Dom.

Laurel was the sub, Hardy the Dom. No doubt about it.

Moe of the Three Stooges was clearly a sadist.

I'd say Charlie Chaplin was vanilla, though the cane raises some questions. I need to re-watch his movies a little more closely.

"Oded Fehr in The Mummy" OMG that man... good heavens that's just nice.
Johnny Depp in Sweeney Todd, of course!
And yes, Anthony Hopkins in anything.

Who could forget Nicholson getting topped from the bottom in the The Witches of Eastwick?

I identify a bit with Hugh Laurie's House character, I don't always know when to keep my mouth shut either.

Marc Harmon on NCIS seems pretty obvious, and Pauley Perrette is just... tasty.

I think deep down though, my archetypal ideal of the Dom/Sub couple is probably Gene Wilder and Teri Garr as Dr. Fronkenstien and Inga in Young Frankenstein, now that's fucked up.

hmmmmMMMM!

This one is obvious for those who have seen it but I have to mention it. CSI with Lady Heather, the first time her and Gil meet. Just Awsome!

I agree that Snape is Dumbledore's sub. Even Rowling herself said that Dumbledore is obviously gay.

...Who the hell is Snape and Dumbledore?

Illyria from "Angel"

i always thought of her as a sub-to-one type, first to Wesley on the show, now to Spike in the comics.  Anyway you slice that cake, yummy.

They've continued the Kate Beckett/rick castle "dynamic" in cute little asides on the TV show Castle.

castle: "What's the weirdest pet you ever owned?"
Beckett: "You."

These Ladies spring to mind:

Catherin Zeta Jones - 'Van Helsing' (although I love her in everything)
Famke Jamssen - 'Golden Eye'
Kate Beckinsale - 'Underworld'
Summer Glau - 'The Terminator TV show' (I want me a hot terminator cyborg... when are they gonna start making them?)
Stephanie Jacobsen - also on the Terminator
