You know, considering what has happened in My life lately, I am sitting here dumbfounded that people can not find something more important in their life to worry about.  If that was the only thing on My mind was some stupid ass avatar I would be a very happy man right now, I promise you that.

I just had to reply to this Sir Kenin and I hope that you understand that my motivations for doing so are not to make you feel bad, but to remind you that as long as we are still breathing there is reason to smile.

In the past month I have been hit with catastrophic illness which has nearly killed me, had to have major surgery, lived through nearly a month of intense infection and fever, extreme pain, become jobless, no insurance or income, become dependent upon the kindness and generosity of others (who by the way, don't really have it to give), the hospital bills I have received so far are over $50,000, my sister has been diagnosed with cancer and has had major surgery, I have had to sit back and watch my mother (who I am supposed to be taking care of) struggle to take care of not only herself but me and my sister also, I have to live for the next 6 months with a medical condition that I would not wish upon my worst enemy, I have to face the fact that I will then have to have yet another major surgery with even more down time...and to top it all off I found a lump on my dog (who is absolutely my baby) that I know is not good but I don't have the money to do a damn thing about it right now.

I do understand your sentiment, I really do. I have felt exactly the same way reading these very boards lately. Whether it be avatars or what's the difference between a sub and a slave....it all just seems rather insignificant and trivial to me right at the moment. But might I suggest to you that maybe trivial and insignificant is exactly what you and I might both really need at this time.

Your response was a bit on the venomous side. While I understand that sometimes when our lives are in disarray, things do have a tendency to come out of us sideways....I also believe that we have to at least make a concious effort to control that. The way I see it is that I have been dealt a hand of cards that....well, quite frankly, they just suck. But, my options are to play with the cards I was dealt or fold my hand. Folding really isn't an option so I guess I just have to play. Now I can choose to play crying or I can choose to play smiling. Crying through it isn't going to change a damn thing about the outcome and will serve no purpose other than to make me and every one I come in contact with miserable. So.....guess the only really viable option is to smile and try to find the positives. Even if the only real positive is that I am indeed breathing. I might also remind you that no matter how bad things get....it usually doesn't take very much effort to look around and find someone whose hand is even worse.....and who can give us reason to be thankful for what we DO have.

mistoferin, although your post actually brought some perspective to My position, and in a strange way made Me feel better, it does not change My opinion about the topic of the OP.  Some lamer asking another person to change their avatar because they used it first is simply retarded.  If it sounds like I am coming off crass, that is because I am.  The term that I think most appropriate for the situation is "idiotic".

It is true.  There are people out there much worse off than I am.  I grant you that.  I also say "so what?".  That does not change the fact that people are enduring severe hardships and someone is bitching about "stealing" an avatar.   How juvenile.

You're right...it does seem juvenile. But the reality is that we can never really know what is happening behind the scenes. We all have our crosses to bear and we all have our fair share of crap. I do understand exactly where you are coming from...I really do, as I know that I myself have had to stifle the urge to scream "Well, if you think that's a problem...sit your ass on down here because I am about to slap a real reality check on ya". But I have to remember that sometimes people will dwell in the trivial because having to really think about the reality is just too overwhelming.

I know that I have even found myself doing it. Bitching over the piddliest little shit....like it really makes a difference one way or the other. I come here on these boards in part to escape the reality of my situation. The trivial shit...no matter how stupid or juvenile....at least occupies my mind for the moment...and for that moment I don't have to deal with the gravity of reality. I don't expect to find anything here that is going to affect significant change in my situation. Sometimes though, when I come here I do find a rare gem of wisdom or a few heartfelt words that uplift my spirit....or maybe just something that is so stupid that I can just shake my head and laugh at it. Those are the bonuses.

I wish you all the best and sincerely hope that whatever burden it is that you are carrying gets significantly lighter some time very soon.

Upon reconsideration, I now realize that her question and responses reflect her sub-nature, which is childish. I can accept that, so I no longer hold it against her.

I first thank you for your kind wishes and wish you the same.

Second, I find no solace in childishness.  I find it in maturity and wisdom.  I find it in kind words.  Pissing and moaning about an avatar does not comfort Me in any way.  It annoys Me.  Further, I do not think that Rule should have to endure such either.  Noone should.  There are more important things to worry about.

I do not think it is fair to blame it on sub nature.  Not all subs behave in such a manner.  Blame it on her?  Sure, but not submissives.  Anyways, I am glad you came to the realization that it was childish at best and decided to pay it no heed.

No. Neither do I consider children to be subs. Perhaps I expressed myself insufficiently clear. My statement qualifying her sub-nature was not a generalization. I was referring specifically to her sub-nature, not to the sub-nature of any other sub.

when the day is done it's just a picture amongst thousands of others...who is to care if it is or is not or changes or does not? sometimes perhaps a change is good to represent new feelings and growth?

Just want to clarify something here. i never claimed to own any avatar or anything else on this site. i made a simple request in a private email to Rule asking if he wouldn't mind choosing a different avatar since i'd already been using the one he chose. i was courteous and polite in my initial request.

he chose to bring it to the boards where it has become an issue. He sent me a very nasty email calling me a liar and stating i'm not really a submissive at all and on and on. Now he's acting like i demanded something and continuing his insults by stating that my nature is childish.

i don't typically waste my time on this silliness, but seeing it go on for 3 pages, realizing that i have been insulted, and that my intitial request has been interpreted like i felt i had some sort of entitlement, i found it necessary to reply.

Please Rule, you have the avatar - i relinquished it because i prefer to have one that's identified with me alone, if it's possible. My reasons for choosing a particular avatar are not less nor greater than yours. It seems to me if anyone is behaving in a childish manner it's not me. i chose another avatar right away, rather than argue over something this silly. - can you just let it go now?

Loki,
I made the Avatar I use on Phoenixandnika and have many many others. I enjoy making them. How would I go about making some to be uploaded to CM for use by others?

By the way I saw the gorean slave ones you made they are beautiful.

Damned good thing, too. Anybody who fucks with a man's tulips has crossed a line that can... uh... never  be... uncrossed.

Or something like that.

In this thread is the first time i saw someone using the same avatar as me. My response: "Eh, it's cool." If i had the motivation to change it, i would.

I would be displeased if someone used mine as it is my pic taken by me.
