The Dims cannot run on their accomplishments.
The Dims cannot run on their agenda.
The Dims cannot run on 0bama0.

So they run on truly childish shit like this. It's almost too sad to be funny.

You do realize Eric Cantor condemned this also?

From the second link:

The House Republicans' No. 2 leader, Eric Cantor of Virginia, on Sunday said he repudiates Iott's actions and would not support someone who would dress in Nazi attire. His remarks on "Fox News Sunday" came after Democratic Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, of Florida, cited Iott as an example of GOP candidates with extreme views.

Yeah, I heard a broadcast of the show. I do not believe Cantor understood it was an historical re-enactment, not an endorsement. Can a candidate go to a Renaissance Festival as a Knight, or would he then be painted as a Crusader? If he played cops and robbers as a kid, and played the robber, would that disqualify him from running as a Republican?

Seriously, this is what candidates do when they cannot win on the issues.

The Dims also cannot run on transparancy.

But that doesn't stop hypocritical bullshit like Obama accusing the Chamber of Commerce of hiding it's use of foreign donations to pay for ads for Republicans without any evidence whatsoever thereof. That, of course, flies directly in the face of the well-known fact that Obama used foreign donations to help pay for his 2008 campaign.

The amazing thing to me, RJ, is that even the Slimes called him on this one.
But the truth is that the people this ploy is aimed at are too stupid to know- or learn- better.

I agree this is not something that should even be news.  He was just doing a re-enactment.

But you are complaining of the Dems making it an issue when his own party is throwing him under the bus.

Maybe it's time for both sides to stop focusing on this trivial nonsense.

DCWoody -> RE: Republican nazi re-anactor?!?!! Not a joke or Onion piece....... (10/12/2010 7:06:58 AM)

Non-story. The Simpsons has taught me that historical battle reenactments are fairly common in the usa, especially american civil war...as you'd expect. This sorta thing has no bearing on his potential qualities or lack of for whatever seat. That his defenders use the words 'Dims' and '0bama0' might be a hint though.

Yea, but when you are running for elected office, playing renaissance knight, weekend nazi, or cops and robbers should not be on your agenda as an adult.

Well, I would vote for a Democrat over a Republican who attended a Renaissance Festival dressed as ANYTHING.

I thought that was a REQUIREMENT for running as a Republican.

Sorry, it was there and I couldn't resist.

Moonhead -> RE: Republican nazi re-anactor?!?!! Not a joke or Onion piece....... (10/12/2010 1:17:00 PM)

How about if the politician in question had been banned from attending ren faires for going dressed as a Klingon/Starfleet officer and pretending they'd beamed down to a primitive planet? Is that better or worse than going to a ren faire and demonstrating that you've got everything you know about the middle ages from playing Dungeons & Dragons, or watching the Disney cartoon of Robin Hood?
These are deep waters, Watson...

Hillwilliam -> RE: Republican nazi re-anactor?!?!! Not a joke or Onion piece....... (10/12/2010 1:37:12 PM)

Odonnel could go as "A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court"
