..and the way people expect you are, does it never bother you? That people think you're one way (not in a bad way), but then you're exactly the other way (not in a bad way either though) but you just can't make them realize

Not one bit.. I am me and that is a constant.... I confuzzel the hell out of people because just when they think they have me pegged they discover a whole new facit of mt .. It is and endless discovery, especially as I am reticent about much about me anyway....It is oft to my advantage when people think me the fool. they cease to expect meto perform marvels day in and day out.... If I allow them to get to know me, things tend to change when I relax a tad..

It used to bother me. I'm very shy and that translates into my being quiet while in public or around those I'm unfamiliar with. I was shocked to discover that a number of people I knew from school and work felt that shyness wasn't my problem. They diagnosed me as stuck up, and believed I thought I was superior to them.

I can't even describe how this bothered me because I wanted so badly to fit in and be "normal".

I've since discovered that I'm simply a different brand of normal and it bothers me less and less if others believe something about me that isn't true.It only becomes frustrating if they're able to affect my life with their beliefs, and very few people have that power. Those who do tend to know who and how I really am. Mostly.

I used to years ago and then I went to university and started mixing with people from a higher up the social scale to me and realised life is a con-trick, after realising that I just relaxed and now I don't really care how people perceive me.

I get that a lot, actually.  People will think I'm a bitch and I'll do something very nice that will completely surprise them.  Or people will think I'm very nice or complacent and they get surprised when I won't put up with their shit.

It doesn't really bother me, per se.  The only time it gets me is when they absolutely expect me to act exactly according to their preconceived notions of me, and throw a fit when I don't.  Either way, I'm going to do what I'm going to do.

Everyone sees everyone else in the most convenient way, and I can't say I blame them.  It's the ones that aren't willing to adjust their ideas when presented with facts that drive me up a wall.

I feel quite the opposite.  I am who I am, and actually enjoy keeping people guessing....in a good way.  This is not to say that I purposely set out to deceive people.  I just don't open up easily to strangers, so people sometimes form opinions, and, rather than set them straight right away, I just let them think what they wish to think.  Those who really get to know me, really know ME.

Yep, it's annoying at times. People look at me and they don't see the fact that I am a complete nerd who is extremely ambitious and competitive.
Those who I meet in RL, it takes them about 5 minutes to realize that I actually do have a brain, and what's more, I know how to use it to my advantage.

But, I have also found that the misconceptions that others form about me, often end up being in my favor; an added advantage that I always use

A good quote that relates here I think....

I'm usually more quiet and shy around people I don't know very well, and they also think that I am stuck up, but I'm not....I'm very friendly and outgoing with people I know.  It just takes me time to get a feel for a person and I listen very intensely when first meeting.

What bothers me is that people tend to perceive (and talk about) me as someone who is easily angered, and they act like they have to walk on eggshells around me, when the reality is that it takes practically an act of Congress to really piss me off, because I'm one of the most laid back people you'd ever meet.

I used to be more upset by this, but, I grew to be really happy with myself, and it rarely bothers me now.

What does upset me is when people misunderstand my motives, and that's because it usually means I handled a situation badly, and should have thought my actions, or more often, my words through more carefully. This happens at work more than anywhere else, and it's probably due to the passion I have for the work I do, and how much I care about the kids I teach.

What I really find funny is that most people, when they first meet me, think I am very serious and intense, and live only in my intellect. They are usually shocked to find out that I have a sense of humour, and can laugh at almost anything. They are even more shocked if they get to see the hedonistic, impish me!

I think usually we can trace people's misconceptions back to our own attitudes and behaviour. I know that I hide behind my intellect, when I am feeling frightened, nervous, sad, or shy, so it's no suprise that they assume that's the real me.

(And contrary to what almost everyone thinks of me, I have a surprisingly strong shy streak. I just hide it well. LOL)

It's better to keep people guessing than have you figured out. After all, how else are you expected to win at poker?

If someone doesn't know me and I don't know them I couldn't care less what they think of me, good or bad.  If someone knows me and has a misguided opinion of me, chances are they haven't spent any time with me and again, I don't care what they think.  If someone knows me well, again, I don't care what they think of me.  People tend to think what they want, no matter what.

I am a very open, honest, and straightforward person.  There are few people that have spent more than an evening with me that don't know a whole lot about me and who I am.  I lay it all out there and I pull no punches.  That doesn't mean that I keep no secrets or have no idea of what's considered proper conversation for company, it just means that I don't put on aires and pretend to be anything that I'm not.

What it also means is that many people put a great deal of trust in me for exactly those reasons.  They know that I won't hold back when they ask for an opinion.  Don't ever ask me if your ass looks fat in those jeans unless you are fully prepared to hear Dammit, you don't know how big your ass is? you looked in the mirror!  But ask me if I think your ass looks good in those jeans and I will tell you, honestly.  They know that I wear my heart on my sleeve and they know where they stand with me.  The people I hold dear to me will also tell you, I am me and I make no apologies about it.

It happens all the time and I find it hilarious. I dress casual (cutoffs, sandals and wife beater), own old beat up cars and trucks, speak my mind bluntly and some think I am some sort of poor uneducated tramp. In reality I have been very fortunate in business and am wealthy beyond most peoples assumptions. Nothing like being looked down upon or spoken to with an attitude at a bank, store, shop etc by some low level employee, and seeing the look on that persons face when the owner/president/manager comes out and starts kissing my ass and sucking up due to my wealth and status.
And then of course the ever popular "bubba/redneck/misogynist" who thinks all women are just "dumb broads". Gotta love putting them in their place just by using words with more than one or two syllable's.

lol okay I was just wondering, I come across as ..ok people just..notice me when I come in lol and they think I'm some kinda superduber hyper person and all that sure I can be but then I also enjoy the quiet times.
There was this certain incident where none of my friends could believe my opinion on that incident 'cause they thought it was so unlike me and I spent hours trying to make them understand that I wouldn't go for it and it so pissed me off that they simply refused to believe me 'cause it seemed so far out of my character to do so, I often speak before I think (bad habit I know..) and I usually say ok try this once and if you don't like it then don't try it again, but that doesn't mean I'd try n go high or jump off a cliff or some shit like that, just once, to see what it's like...but they just couldn't believe it n thought I was joking..for 3 friggin hours while I was trying to convince them otherwise..eventually I gave up trying to convince them n simply said I wouldn't do it without any explanation at all..anywayz this was just yet another rant lol heh but it happens time after time that ppl have just this standardized picture of my character and then they simply don't believe me if the case seems to not really fit into this standardized type and that's what pisses me off. Otherwise I usually don't give a damn what people think of me anywayz..just yet another rant topic I guess

At this stage in my life...........No, it does not ever bother me.  I suspect years ago it most likely did, but then again, i cared about what everyone thought of me, how i acted, how did i look to other people.  whew! glad i grew out of that.

I very much enjoy people, i love the interaction with them, i can bullshit with the best of them, i am a social butterfly.  When it comes to high protocal events, i shine even more, i thrive on the atmosphere.  I think at some point i figured out that what others thought of me was actually irrelivent.  Oh, it's nice to get compliments, nice to be told how well i may have carried myself, how nice i may have looked.......but you know what?....................what truly matters is how you feel inside, that is where the "shine" comes in.  How  you feel on the inside is how you will represent how/who you are on the outside.  When it comes down to it......all you have is you.

Happy Wednesday!
