ORIGINAL: Toppingfrmbottom angelika, maybe that's why I constantly have the scalp problem it seems , I don't wash with the Nizarol or the Selson very often I wash once while I am itching horribly, that stops the itching, and so I don't use it again till the itching comes back and is driving me bat shit crazy. I guess I should wash with it more regularly, and not just once a month when the itching is bad enough to hurt. The dr gave me some medicated lotion for my scalp, but it didn't help the itching, and it made my scalp icky cause it was runny. The cortizone started drying my skin horribly the moment I started using it so then they told me not to use it any more, but then again, like you said there's other creams and what not. quote:
ORIGINAL: angelikaJ They suggest Selsun Blue because the active ingredient will kill the fungus. You could try a different anti-fungal, one of the creams such as those containing ketoconazole, clotrimazole or miconazole and use that with the hydrocortisone cream. Washing your hair frequently, and using the Selsun Blue to shampoo every other time to balance out the irritation. Taking a B vitamin supplement might help as being low on those can contribute. Are you using a prescription cortisone cream? Try using the cortaid over-the counter one that has moisturizer in it...or alternate them. Don't use that unless you need it. And perhaps using the anti-fungal shampoo just once a week will be enough, but it is important to wash your hair when you need to; you don't want to give the fungus stuff to feed on. I would give the B-vitamins a try too.
