Williams was fired just two days after he made a Fox News Channel appearance during which he agreed with a television host that the United States was facing a "Muslim dilemma."

On his show "The O'Reilly Factor," host Bill O'Reilly said: "The cold truth is that in the world today, jihad, aided and abetted by some Muslim nations, is the biggest threat on the planet."

Williams, who is also a political analyst for Fox News, said he concurred with O'Reilly, adding: "I think, look, political correctness can lead to some kind of paralysis where you don't address reality."

The analyst said he felt nervous when boarding planes with Muslims on board.

"I mean, look, Bill, I'm not a bigot. You know the kind of books I've written about the civil rights movement in this country," Williams said.

"But when I get on the plane, I got to tell you, if I see people who are in Muslim garb and I think, you know, they are identifying themselves first and foremost as Muslims, I get worried. I get nervous."

She doesn't do that "P.C." crap.

Any R who does not move/vote to defund NPR should meet well-funded opposition in the primary....

Status: offline 		I do understand NPR's position...they try to report the news without a political bent. I know this because both conservatives and liberals think they are biased toward the other.

I do feel for him however because I believe his views reflect the majority here in America.. Otherwise he was telling like it is right or wrong.

If he had said he was reflecting the majority view rather than a personal view he would still have his job with NPR. It is a lessen for all in journalism...never give a personal view.

I love NPR. I love everything about its non-sensationalist, factual, in depth reporting (I love the Writers Almanac, too). Regardless of the fact that I rarely agreed with Juan Williams when he did an opinion piece for NPR, I still listened because he is rational and is not afraid to engage in complex thinking. I am sorry to see him go.

No, I don't think NPR should have fired him. Although it was a bit stupid of Williams to say that he'd be frightened of people in "Muslim garb" who got on an airplane (Did anyone think the 9/11 hijackers were wearing "Muslim garb"?), firing someone for stating what I would daresay at least 50% of the population feels is an overreaction.

Status: offline 		NPR gets 7%, that's right 7%, of their funding from federal sources. They get more than 40% of their funding thru citizen donations.

Juan Williams went on to qualify what he said.

Judging all Muslims by the actions of a few zealots is wrong.

Is it wrong to evaluate one's safety at any given time? No.

Let me repeat, judging all Muslims as a threat is wrong.
