I still say she is lucky you did not call the police.

You be sure and tell her that I told you that in my area, a police report would have been filed.

Evil Thought.... If you could get it...

Get some pyridene and put in a planted bottle of syrup for her to steal. Pyridene is an antibiotic for certain urinary tract infections that has an interesting side effect, it turns the urine a bright scarlet red. It can scare the bejezus out of someone that doesn't know they are taking it. I learned that trick from a hospital corpsman that was finding out who was robbing his stash of Jolt cola.

Then there is the easy revenge.. you can't taste ipecac when added to cough syrup.... nuff said

Why get mad when you can have soooo much fun getting even,
Stefan

This is pretty funny! Well except for that fact that I'm allergic to Pyridene. Not only would my pee turn bright neon colors, but I'd be deathly ill. I know we are talking about a friend betraying thief here, but allergic reactions happen. Change the locks.

I would ask for the key back and change the locks and mention you DID change the locks after you do.

That way there is no excuse for her to be "trying her key".

Really? I wouldn't tell her. But I might install a security camera to catch her in the act.

She's very lucky you didn't call the police. Her fingerprints would be all over the bottle and she'd be facing jail time.

When I had to change my lock, imagine his shock and anger he expressed 1 wk later at not having been told, and how could I not trust him?

Uhhhmmm, ya left me for someone else one day then strolled in the next morning like you owned the place?

And actually since the op states that it is her friend's husband who is the addict, it's possible he took the key and she really didn't know. In either case, they can't be trusted, not with the key nor not to have made copies.

I dated a guy who was an addict.  His mom would try to score for him- when he was in pathetic addicted condition... so as to relieve the suffering.  In those days one signed a log at the pharmacy.

I read everything in this thread.

Just because nobody mentioned it...I'll suggest this.  For humiliation value, because some people need to feel so busted that there is nothing they can say to get out of it.

Cut cardboard a bit larger than your medicine cabinet.  Have holes at the top, well above every shelf.  Buy bags of marbles at the Dollar Tree.  Open the cabinet and take your meds out, but them somewhere else.  Hold the cardboard in place and pour all the marbles through the holes...try to fill up one shelf at least to a half way point.  Shut the door as much as you can and then carefully slide out the cardboard...finish shutting the cabinet.

Make sure there is some kind of strainer in your sink so that marbles don't cascade down your drain and clog the pipe.

Now...if anyone peeks into your medicine chest to see what's there...BUSTED!

Marbles falling out and bashing into the sink make a terrible racket.

Yes, I would be standing right outside the door.

((((hugs))))  bestheadyet, I am sorry for the betrayal and hurt you are going through.

If you haven't yet I would still change my locks... even if she is moving better to be safe than sorry.

Hello BHY,
I often think about what the danger is for her if she has your key.  If your house is broken into, she is the first one who will be accused by the cops.  Why, darling, you're just doing the neighborly thing by making sure that *she* will never be accused because she doesn't have a key anymore.  And that's why you changed the locks - to protect her!

It's all in how you spin it.

best,
sunshine
