For the enquiring minds out there:

A certain person has posted another profile, from the same city, and is very insistent her time not be wasted.

Scary is that this person has nothing better to do.

Yours,

benji

*smiles and shrugs*

This may sound harsh, but I'm a firm believer in "social Darwinism" and personal responsibility.  If someone is stupid enough to get involved with someone who clearly states what they are about (and that profile goes totally against all held notions of common sense, mutual desire, and what someone is looking for in a relationship), then the person responding to the personal ad has volunteered for the consequences.

Hello, Aluminum extension ladders have warning labels telling you not to use them around electrical wires.  Propping one up on the power pole is a BAD  IDEA.  If you are dumb enough to do it, do NOT blame the ladder company when you get electrocuted.  By the same token, if a potential partner flat out warns you in their profile that they will take your property, degrade, abuse, torture or otherwise harm you, without regard for your care, condition, needs and desires, helloooooo, wtf are you doing even responding to them???

If, on the other hand, it sounds like your idea of heaven, who am I to tell you not to?

But do not come crying that you were "abused".  You weren't abused, you volunteered for the treatment by responding to the ad.  Accept YOUR freaking responsibility for signing on for what happens.  Negotiate, communicate, examine, and research BEFORE getting involved.    Letting your hormones and gonads get you into a terrible situation isn't the problem of the one advertising up front what they are going to do, it's YOURS for thinking they were kidding.

Hense the need for referances, phone conversation, background checks, a legit home phone number and last name, then meet in a public place and safecalls. Heck, I STILL do that stuff, I am think I am a bit on the 'experienced' side other coin and I STILL do all that stuff and will contnue to do so. Too many nutcases out there; I can screen out most of them, but a few may get through.

EvilGeoff -> RE: Scary Profiles (4/30/2006 9:38:05 PM)

Exactly, rose!  Exactly!  We check and recheck the normal sounding and looking ones, why on earth would we not check out the really wierd ones?  If the profile is so darned scary, why respond in the first place?  Pop 'em on iggy or hide from 'em.

Common sense tells us to stay away from the obvious nut jobs and cranks.

But then again, common sense is actually quite rare.

*grins*

YIK,
- Geoff

Not nessisarily, and she can report you for harrasment for your email. And then you got a mod biting your ass and for what, the satisfaction of sending a potentially snarky  email?

My email to her certainly wasn't stalking in any way.  Maybe if more people email her with comments like mine, she'll realize how absurd her profile is.

CalifChick -> RE: Scary Profiles (3/6/2008 12:00:23 PM)

Hey YHMA... you stalking this guy?  This sucker is two years old. Tell me you're just bored.

First, there is no rule against sending 'potentially snarky' email.

Second, moderators have nothing to do with email and wouldn't be biting anyone's ass over it.

Third, please don't resurrect dead threads unless you're adding something of import.  This wasn't.

Logging in to CM last night, I was greeted by a profile on the welcome screen that just scared the hell out of me.  I'm not one to send nasty e-mails to someone because I don't like their profile but I was very tempted.  I just used the "hide" feature to make sure I never see that smiling face of everything that is wrong with the world again.

I'm hoping it was a poor copycat of the fun one CrappyDom ran with (trying hard to convince myself it was) but I'm curious if others have this reaction sometimes.  Are there profiles you run across that simply violate everything you believe in?

No, but there was one profile that used to show up every time I logged on. It had a picture of a scary dentist guy, looming in a black background. Scared the living shit out of me.

Yep i've seen that one a couple times.

I have seen some Dominant profiles that give me pause....especially those that come right out and say that they are abusers looking for victims...and yes I have seen them. But the ones that actually scare the bejeezus out of me are the submissive/slave profiles, especially of the newbies... that show their naivety or claim themselves as limitless.

I brought up this basic concern the other day in the chatroom, and it seemed as maybe only 1/3rd agreed with me. I find it really troubling to see some young people (being  young myself) come on and proclaim they wanna be a slave. All I can think is...you're nineteen...everything you think you know will probably change again in two years. So...ya...I'm not disturb by the person, but sometimes, as others mentioned here I'm a little saddened when I see people just asking for emotional struggles in their life.

Wow, GeekFreak is a little cutie...who agrees with me?!?!?

YourhandMyAss -> RE: Scary Profiles (3/6/2008 7:09:52 PM)

yeah. I'm just bored. I don't pay attention to thread dates, if I wanna say something I do. often with out ever even seeing a date on it.

kc692 -> RE: Scary Profiles (3/6/2008 7:13:42 PM)

Yeah, well, it caught others' attention too.......specially since the date was brought to your attention in addition to your misinformation.

Gwynvyd -> RE: Scary Profiles (3/6/2008 9:10:17 PM)

You mean I just read 8 pages of outdated stuff for no reason? Well shite. I never thought to look at the dates.. I was wondering why some of the regulars hadnt popped up quite so much.

Gwyn,

domiguy -> RE: Scary Profiles (3/7/2008 6:16:40 PM)

It's so sad to think that most of the people who originally posted on this thread were killed in the CM tainted cum scare of '07.

I like to think of participating in the forums as "having a conversation." Unless you possess the ability of "crossing over" you won't be talking to the majority of these folks....I find it simply in bad taste and extremely rude to bring this thread back to life....

Perhaps for your next act you might consider digging up and posting a pic of jon benet.

Every once in a while, I think I can actually comprehend reality.  Then something comes along that shatters all my preconceptions.  A sunset seen from the top of a mountain, where the air is crisp and clear.  The first time a woman whispers in my ear that she loves me.  Domiguy, Deputy of the Politeness Police.

I so know what you mean Red.

It's deeply emotional - there is a wonder to it that passes all understanding. One goes on one's lonely way somehow a different person.

Quite moving. <I think I'm going to cry now>
