I know a Domme on this site who has a hairy mole on her left butt cheek.

I have reported her using the "report hairy moles" button.

I know a domme on this site who makes light, fluffy sauces using lots of chillies.

I have reported her using the "report airy Molé" button.

Scorchio!

The temptation to reply with "no speako dago" was strong, but I resisted it as I thought no-one would get the reference, and would instead think I was being racist, and call for my head on a spike.

Seriously though, I don't speak Spanish.

Or Italian. Or German. A very little French*, but that's about it.

Oh and English. Sort of. But as all Brits know, if you speak English slowly and loudly enough, all foreigners get the message, sooner or later** [;)]

*I used to be able to swear quite well in French. I once got into a situation at an airport car hire in the south of France where EuropeCar tried to stiff me on the decent motah I'd booked (they always do this), and were keen on palming me off with some French POS. I tried being polite for about 10 minutes, then realised I was getting nowhere, so took a deep breath and screamed every French bad word I know, one after the other, until the over made-up Rent-a-Twat behind the desk beetled off and got me something jolly tidy. The old French bloke next to me in the queue leaned over and said "what you lack in thee knowledge you make urp for in thee effort. Good boy" <pat pat on back>.
** In all honesty, I do always carry a phrase book and make an effort, wherever I am ... even the French give you big brownie points for trying, and the Italians adore you for it. It doesn't work in Paris though, unless you're female and very cute. Parisians hate everyone with a sort of egalitarian fairness. Even each other.

Gawd, RF - careful with that sort of joke.  You know how looney-paranoid the various Western security forces are these days.

Not true, I never met a Parisian who was not prepared to forgive almost everything, as long as you were female, fashionable dressed and wore high heels. The guys try to be charming, they just haven't realized that telling a female that she looks "comme une Parisienne" is not really a compliment, most of us believe in regular waxings and that body hair is not a desirable trait in females...

That's a bit like saying "Don't run out into the road without checking for vehicles approaching", I'm sure sure plenty of people don't check and then complain if they get hit by a car. Where's the point? Nobody forces anybody to send money out, if you think you are much smarter than the rest so "it can't happen to you" and you get stung, well then I guess a scammer was smarter than you are, because obviously you (general you) weren't smart enough to read the warning that you should NOT SEND MONEY TO STRANGERS!

I will start feeling sorry for all the scam victims, but currently I am too busy feeling sorry for the victims of the Nigerian scams, you know all those poor people who are still waiting for the millions to be transferred into their bank accounts.

Point being, My mind works like this:

Person was told not to do <insert stupid thing here>.

Person does <insert stupid thing here> anyway.

Person has nobody to blame but themselves because of the consequences of doing <insert stupid thing here>.

We're not talking about little people here who just have to reach up to the stove, even though a parent has told them "hot".  We're talking about grown human beings here.  Ones who make a conscious decision to specifically do what they were told not to do.  The fact that there are consequences as a result of that action gets no sympathy from Me.

Edited to add the quote referring to the topic.

In her book I could stand. In her <deleted> I could not. The woman makes me retch whenever I see her smug face.

LadyConstanze -> RE: I know a scammer on the site (11/18/2010 7:40:30 AM)

LP, I was actually agreeing with you.

My point is that any adult who can't read should not even be able to log onto this site, this site is exclusively for adults.

Now anybody who wants to flaunt basic good advice should not complain if the results are less than desirable.

On the other hand, a while ago (maybe a year or two) I was talking to a woman on here (and yes, we were on skype, from what I could tell she was a genuine female) who said she had such a terrible time with flakes and time wasters, the only thing she was asking for was that somebody sent $1 to a PayPal account, she then would refund it or send it to a charity, but she was fed up sitting in cafes, bars and restaurants waiting for somebody who never showed up after having exchanged tons of emails and all of a sudden the mobile number was out of service, she figured if somebody was remotely serious $1 would not be a massive dent, and let's face it, if she wanted to get rich from it, she'd have to put in a lot more work than actually just working, it simply took care of guys with multiple identities and no desire to follow through. People tore into her for being a scam artist, obviously $1 seems to be a fortune for some...

You said "unless you're female and very cute" - I don't think I'm very cute, not even cute (my features aren't soft enough for that), being female and aware that you are female and attempting to speak French is enough to turn them into very helpful beings. In case you are dealing with Parisiennes, compliment them on their hairstyle/clothes/shoes/skin/figures and voila, again, they turn into very helpful beings...

You just got to be "culturally aware"

LOL.  I'll take the excuse that it's early for Me and I'm still getting My caffeine level where it should be.

On your conversation with your friend, I've heard a few folks say that they were wanting to use a similar method to weed out folks who are just wasting time.  I honestly don't have an issue with it, if she wants them to do it and they are willing to do it.  I think it would be ridiculous if someone came to the board to complain about the situation afterward, but that's just Me.

I disagree entirely. I've travelled extensively and Paris is the only place I've ever encountered persistent, blanket rudeness to all*.

The good news is this means you’re clearly cuter than you think you are.

*yes, I've been to New York too

LadyConstanze -> RE: I know a scammer on the site (11/18/2010 8:11:19 AM)

To be honest, she wasn't a friend, just somebody I sometimes exchanged messages with as she lives or lived in a place I used to live, we shared a few laughs, it was quite funny and she told me about it, because she had something about it on her profile and I asked. I found it too amusing what a big deal people made about $1 and she said she regularly got hate mail accusing her of being a scam artist (all for that mere Dollar, I wonder how much a good scam is actually worth, $1 seems a bit of a bargain), I didn't understand the purpose and she said she is fairly sure that some guys contact her under multiple names and just get off on wasting her time with endless emails, then finally setting up meetings, usually the cancel a few with feeble excuses and it never happens, so if she would ask for the $1 (which she was prepared to send back), she could be sure that the guys wouldn't have multiple identities or would at least waste a lot of time setting up several PP accounts and bank accounts. Seemed not a bad idea to me, I just found it funny that guys seem to be prepared to send a lot more to women without checking if they are actually women, but $1 was apparently for a lot of people a scam of worldwide proportions. Maybe I live in a sheltered world, but $1 doesn't seem like a fortune to me...

"Cute" is not really a compliment for a grown up woman, unless you aspire to be a sex kitten...

I never got the famed NYC rudeness, lived there and found the people delightful, I can live with people who are straight out and the fact that they just adore my accent didn't harm in any way.

I've never been to Florida, no.

I quite fancy (when I'm next money'd-up) doing what Stephen Fry did and hiring a car and going through every mainland state of the US.

Maybe one day.

Agreed. I wasn't there long, mind, but the people seemed really ... lively. And mostly very pleasant.

Mind you I've very rarely had any issues anywhere I've been.

Apart from Wales. Hate the place. And Paris. But everywhere else has been either ok, pleasant, really great or super.

I think much of it is one's own attitude. I've known people say "such-and-such is filled with awful people" and I've been and people have been fine.

I realize you're a bit older but you do realize that they invented planes? (Sorry, couldn't resist but the idea of driving through the Bible belt is a bit yucky... In a previous job I spent a lot of time traveling through the US, often in cars, there are only so many fields you can see and don't get me started on the food in the diners ...)

I tend to agree, there are a few places I dislike, one of them is Stuttgart, Manchester is another one and LA, but each place does have nice people, sometimes a place just has a vibe that clearly isn't for me (or in the case of Stuttgart and Manchester, simply dreadful accents, oh the things they do with language <shudder>)

When I go to places I find I enjoy the journey as much (or sometimes more) as I do the destination.

I'm happy driving about 1,000 miles a day in Europe if I'm in a hurry, plus I love speeding in foreign places. Most of the time on Euro tours (which I tend to do once or twice a year) I'll drive 300-500 miles a day and really enjoy it. Last time I did Italy to London in one hit (about 1,200 miles) and was fine. You have to pick the right car, mind.

I've driven in the States several times and, if you get off the Interstates there's some really interesting, and often very odd, places and people, not to mention some cracking mountain roads. I've driven from the Canadian border down to Mexico that way and loved it, so I think toddling along the highway would suit me just fine.

"Some people says a front-engined car handles best. Some people say a rear-engined car handles best. Me? I say a rented car handles best; I can drive faster in a rental car than in any other sort of car. And it's an all-terrain vehicle too! You can take it into the woods! Ok, so you can’t always get it out again but hey, that's not your problem." - PJ O'Rourke

LA always puts me in mind of a theme park designed by Charles Manson.

But I quite like it, in an odd way. I wouldn't want to live there, but it's a bit like taking part in a very big paintball game, except with live ordnance.
