But, yet you're willing to throw the number out there. May I suggest you find yourself a hobby?

ups...i am caught out...ahem,yes my five monsters are, though when i take my cheese baked ciabbatta bread out of the oven I succeed with my microscopic tiny dominant side and tell them to "f*** off"...because i dont mind to share my cheese sometimes, but certainly not when it is lovely melted over peppers and tomato on a ciabbatta bread...then it is ALL MINE :o)
regarding the fish cans a friend in the past told me that she does that and it made sense to me,so they get it at times :o) also have prawns in freezer which i will cook them one day...

Hi Oside. The number wasnt "thrown out there". I guess its difficult for you, with so many posts in this thread to keep track of what has been said. But if you look at the other parts of this thread, you will see my explanation for why I think its not a bad "estimate".

I don't believe in Russian Organized Crime.

I mean, if you're going to go through the trouble of creating an organized crime network, geez, it's worth taking your time!

/Reports lousy pun to the mods/

Sorry, I missed the pun, DS.  And that's rare.
Please to be so kind, Comarade, as to explain thez "pun" you speak of.

For you other, equally dense (as I am) punsters..... reports (on other side) that it's "Rushing Organized Crime" upon which MM was punning.

A while back, there was a group on CollarMe called FakeWatch (Unfortunately CollarMe deleted most of the profiles of users who joined the group). They did a survey of all the profiles which had been online during the preceding two months and extrapolated the figures from that. I cannot vouch for its accuracy. But if you look through pages on CollarMe, using the search parameters of 18-30 + female submissive/slave, often five or more of the eight profiles per page, have borrowed photos, or some other element which makes them appear fake. So I would think if its not 95%, its at least in the 80 % range.

That's funny, because 100% of bad male dom/masters will tell anyone who will listen about the "fakes" who had the audacity to lose interest in them.

Oh stef, lol.... how do you get coffee out of a keyboard?   Thank you for the laugh!  I just might plagerize your crime fighting hero..love the name!

Feel free.  I can't take credit for it as I heard it years ago, but it's certainly appropriate in situations such as these.

Good luck with that keyboard  [;)]

There are lots of bad male doms/masters. There are fake profiles. There are "good" subs and "bad" ones of both sexes. Not everyone is going to fit with everyone else. All this is true enough. The point of this post wasnt to criticise good subs or even bad ones. Nor was it to lump genuine ones with fake ones. It is just to point out, that sites like CollarMe, are used by people with no interest in D/s for the purpose acquiring information and setting up botnets. At the moment, the centre of that activity is Russia. Three years ago it was China. All this isnt very controversial. Its quite worth knowing about, because its relevant to users of this site. The total number of fake profiles on CollarMe is highly debatable. I think its a high percentage of the total database. But others think it might be lower. Whatever it is, it is, and we wont be able to ascertain the correct figure. So its not a matter of great importance overall.

The useful point, for everyone who knows little about how these things work, is just this information, that sites like CollarMe are being targetted. It would be naive to suppose othewise. So its worth noting, that you can chat to someone you met through CollarMe, who exhibits nothing suspicious or untoward, who sends you a nice link to a webpage of a site you trust (which actually isnt that site but a clone of it, you would never know, as most of the millions of zombie pc's are captured through site clones) or who asks you to send a photo, or who sends you a photo...or any number of the other seemingly innocent ways by which botnets are spread. And you probably will not know that your pc has become part of such network, nor about any of the risks resulting from it. This has nothing to do with whether bad doms because of their own failings blame subs etc. It is funny when do that I agree. But I dont want to lose the esssential point, which is just to give a heads-up to the community.
Best wishes to all.
H.

*Coughs* :D ...errm GreedyTop,  McCarthyism was about the percieved threat from Soviet Russia. There hasnt been a communist Russia for a very long time, since December 1991 in fact, when the Soviet Union formally ended, and there has been no ressurection yet. This post has nothing to do with Anti-Communism.

No one is going to contact you, from the "Russian mob" with a courtesy call to let you know your pc is being used. The point is, botnets proliferate because the target user never knows that his pc has been hit. As long it remains that way, it can operate freely.

Perhaps a cursory analysis of these posts along gender lines might be telling.....

A quick glance thru them tells me that it's mainly males complaining about fakes and that the posts from females tend to be less-than-convinced about the numbers of fakes.

Clearly this suggests we are suffering a shortage of fake males. So please boys get your act together and tell us a few more porkies. We know you are oh-so-talented at it! Your reputations are on the line here!

Love to all

Crazy thought and all, but since the OP cares so much, why dontcha get out of the problem and into the solution by telling people how to check for/get rid of/protect themselves in the future from bot attacks....

Less whine, more rock.

Ya know, just saying.

Collarme As A Hub For Russian Organised Crime   If you had not noticed already, the majority of profiles on CollarMe are fraudulent. Current estimates are that around 95% of the total database of profiles are fake. New fake profiles are added each day at an incredible rate. This is intriquing. Why so many, and what is going on? A little research sheds some light on this. If you use Tin-Eye to do an image search on many of the profiles, you will find an amazing number of them are hosted elsewhere on websites with .ru  url. Frequently you will find these pictures fronting fake profiles on Russian dating sites, or Russian social networking sites.  Yet many of the profiles on CollarMe using these photographs are not for Russian users, but for girls located, ostensibly, in small towns through the UK, USA and Europe. Equally interesting is that these profiles on CollarMe are often well written and have had considerable thought put into making them seen genuine. One explanation would be that these are adolescent guys from the UK or Europe hoping to see a bit of totty on their webcams. But when there are a huge number of UK, USA and European amateur websites and forums to steal pictures from, why are the majority of these photographs being stolen from Russian websites? These Russian websites are hard to find and navigate for most English speaking users. The majority of hack attacks and ID theft originates from Russia, which is currently the capital of worldwide cyber crime. So, to all genuine users on CollarMe, be warned.
