hybridspecies2 -> Campaign to legalise adult consensual slavery relationships. (4/28/2006 8:26:28 AM)

People from both genders, all sexual orientations, all professions and occupations are involved with BDSM and associated activities.

Would you support any of the following if a pressure group was set up to lobby policicians, clergy, social reformers, lawyers ect for the legalisation of consensual slavery between one or more consenting adults?

Would you support the setting up of a consensual slave register, where the  designated slave could pay a one off registration fee to have their name included as a voluntary slave without limit of time, after a criminal records and mental health check??

Would you suppoort athe setting up of a slave owner licensing authority, where the prospective owner could aquire a license to own for say 10 years, for a set fee after a criminal records check and mental health check.

The setting up of a Registered slave welfare inspection agency, where welfare workers could visit the address where a slave is residing during their ownership,to check that they are being reasonably well treated?

No.

Reasonable -> RE: Campaign to legalise adult consensual slavery relationships. (4/28/2006 8:30:15 AM)

This is a fruitless waste of effort.

Try something more productive.

Considering the US government does not even really follow the 13th amendment in regards to slavery, I highly doubt you'd get anywhere.

Better to focus on just making all consensual sex between adults and all consensual relationships between adults legal or at last not illegal. That might actually get somewhere legally.

KnightofMists -> RE: Campaign to legalise adult consensual slavery relationships. (4/28/2006 8:34:02 AM)

mmmmmmmmm are you really serious about this??

Um No..

wytchywoman -> RE: Campaign to legalise adult consensual slavery relationships. (4/28/2006 8:34:17 AM)

Slave welfare inspection agency? Slave welfare workers? What another great idea to drain more governmental resources. Not to mention an idea like this would make the U.S. an absolute laughinstock across the globe.

subbecky -> RE: Campaign to legalise adult consensual slavery relationships. (4/28/2006 8:35:19 AM)

No, i wouldn't. The go'vt now is already trying to regulate the sex lives of adults in this country. we don't need them bugging us anymore than they already do.

LadyMorgynn -> RE: Campaign to legalise adult consensual slavery relationships. (4/28/2006 8:35:27 AM)

No, for reasons too varied for me to feel like explaining, and having nothing to do with whether or not I support consensual slavery (I do).

mnottertail -> RE: Campaign to legalise adult consensual slavery relationships. (4/28/2006 8:37:14 AM)

I am dead set against this, I couldn't pass the mental health check anyhow!

Reasonable -> RE: Campaign to legalise adult consensual slavery relationships. (4/28/2006 8:37:53 AM)

Nodding,a campaign like this can only draw unwanted attention from conservatives, and lead to opression.

Better to get government out of the bedroom first.

It is not necessary even.  For one the amendment if you read it through carefully states that it is illegal for forced slavery.  There is nothing in there for consentual slavery that the  slave can walk out at any time.  By the strict wording of the law.  The true problem lies not within the amendment but with an organization created years ago.  The FBI if you look at its history...was originally founded to search brothels and stop "white slavery" of women.  In short it was created to be the prostitution police of the this country, which is why it prostitution eventually became illegal in states.
If you were to push for consentual slavery you would have to do so in a way that would get most of the companies on your side.  Corperations love to have low paid workers, working almost as if they were slaves to the company.  Greed is a big motivator.
Besides right now the religious groups hold a lot of influence and power and your ideas would only fuel their fires even more.  I say something like that is not the time.  People first need to be educated on things like why the FBI was created, to teach them were things came from.  Because by knowing where things, concepts, laws, etc. came from....can we then see where maybe they will head, or could head into our future.

MissA -> RE: Campaign to legalise adult consensual slavery relationships. (4/28/2006 8:50:40 AM)

I am all for consensual slavery but I have to say this is a big NO from me. Among quite a few reasons I can think of you know there are always those who abuse/disregard the laws and those who fall through the cracks. The last thing we need is abusers with legal rights/protection to harm their victims.

Actually the only slavery the 13th amendment mentions as legal is when it is the punishement for a crime. Can you imagine the outcry from the general public if the courts started sentencing people to slavery for their crimes? Can you imagine the numbers of victims and survivors lining up to get vengence on said enslaved criminals? The justice system (or society or whatever) hates the idea so much that it requires that jailed crinimals be paid some amount (however small) for their work.

As you said, the amendment has no idea in it that slavery could be consensual.

WeeIttyBitty -> RE: Campaign to legalise adult consensual slavery relationships. (4/28/2006 9:07:50 AM)

Dont they already have road crew and work details in prison?

Whatever happened to the 20 years at hard labour? Shouldnt there be a requirement that prisoners do something, rather than "hang out" all day. I bet the number of problems in prisons would drop, if they where busy crushing rocks or something all day... too tired to scrap...

Real captive slavery isnt going to get an image make over anytime soon.

NO!!!!!!!  ABSOLUTELY NOT!!!!!  The Federal, State and Local governments already have their noses in how "families" are to be.........We do not need them monitoring what we do in our own homes........They already monitor us here on the web as well as in our cars our phones our mail..........You think they don't.....DON"T YOU BELIEVE IT!!!  Big Brother has always been watching and I don't want them watching us anymore than they already are....so again a BIG FAT NO TO YOUR QUESTION!

Why stop at consensual slavery?  Why not have the government (US, Canada, EU, wherever) license, register, track, and inspect everyone involved in any form of D/s activity?

Then they could move on to regulating any sort of  behind closed doors activity...sex, masturbation, non-heterosexuality, etc.

Oops...sorry...governments have been doing that last one for a while!

But seriously...governments can't keep the workplace safe, they can't keep drunks from running oil tankers aground, they can't ensure that the people's legislators keep their fingers out of the till.  Just why do you think a government agency could regulate consensual slavery.  I've no doubt they could staff it...after all, sex is at least peripherally involved...but regulate it?  Not in this lifetime!

redpetals -> RE: Campaign to legalise adult consensual slavery relationships. (4/28/2006 9:25:34 AM)

For what possible benifet?
A slave is enslaved because somewhere down the line she surrenders to her Master.
Now without getting flowery here..if there was not that initial surrender then what is there?
Are you talking about slavery..the legal ownership of another human?
If  you are only an Owner because some law (aint never gonna happen) says you are then ,what do you really have?
Bdsm is about very real power over very real subs.
I can not  believe a real Dominant could  or would desire this.
And i have never met or talked to a sub that did not have her heart fully engaged and involved in her submission.
