I hope they now put in
1) a line for people who dont mind being scanned,
2) a line for people who dont wanna be scanned  but dont mind being patted down
3) a line for all the people who thinks their "rights"  are sacred and can waste five hours with all the other complainers.

Here is the KEY part of all of this that you people are not getting, for whatever reason. I have the CHOICE to go to each and every one of those places.........the CHOICE. Not the right! It is not my right to go to a ball game, a rock concert, or fly on a plane. I make the choice, based upon whether or not I have the privilege of entrance fee/money to spend. I am making that CHOICE with the knowledge that the owners of those venues make have requirements I must comply with. If I do not wish to comply, I am in effect, choosing to not attend.

My grocery store, and most restaurants require shoes and a shirt to enter. I comply with that requirement to gain entrance.

No LaT, the key part you are not getting is you do not have the choice.

Would you never go to a grocery store if they subjected you to pat downs?

And flying is no longer something optional but a fact for people who need to travel on business.

Dear Chicken Little..........the sky is not falling.

Yes, I would go to the grocery store if I had to be subject to a pat down. Granted, I would consider moving if indeed, my neighbourhood was so dangerous as to create the sort of threat needed for the grocery store to implement such.

Again.............IF I am going to choose to avail myself of the privilege of air travel, I have ZERO problem complying with whatever measures they've taken to attempt to insure me a safer flight.EVEN if that mean they have to check to make sure there is no questionable junk in my trunk.

That's another thing I have mentioned a few times on here.

Every airline we travel on carries cargo, apart from passenger's luggage.

What we have is a "feel good" exercise with the measures the TSA has implemented, designed to make people feel all is well.

pahunkboy -> RE: Don't bloody well touch me!!! (11/23/2010 12:14:21 PM)

That is true. Cargo IS put in the same planes that carry passengers.

We could have a 100% safe society if we choose that route.

As long as we are willing to give up our freedoms for the sake of security.

What I think is most likely the case here is that many people are afraid of flying to begin with so they are willing to sacrifice their rights for an added sense of safety.

Wouldn't you say that LAT has terrorist tendencies?

We have met the enemy and it is us.

Perfect.   This madness ends TOMORROW.

The people will not stand for this.

You have no idea how our rights have been eroded over the last 10 years.

Say hello to the guys monitoring this "wire".
.....they love that baked mode.....  baked... like in a microwave oven- "scanner".

Tomorrow it all ends.......   you watch.

El Al only has a relative handful of departures each day (they ony operate 35 aircraft after all). United Airlines operates 360 aircraft, Delta has a fleet of 733, American has a fleet of 625. Now add in all the small and regional US carriers.

What matters is cost per passenger. The US also has probably 100 times the security personnel already in place, along with larger security agencies. I'm certainly not talking about adding personnel, I'm talking about making better use of what we have, of which Ben Gurion Airport, El Al, and the relevant  security agencies provide us with good example. Your comparison in terms of absolute size is meaningless and irrelevant.

Now imagine -each passenger- (??, Ed.)  going through a 3 hour screening involving questioning and hand bag searches as well as any level of physical screening the security officers feel is warranted. That would bring actual chaos and standstill to US airports.

This is what I called BS on in the earlier post and it's what I call BS on now and will do so every time you attempt to adduce something you've clearly pulled out of your hat as evidence for a groundless and meaningless argument.

For -each- passenger? really? And 3 hours per passenger, each and every one? My oh my ...

Either provide a creditable citation for that claim or dispense with it.

A loosely-organized Internet boycott of body scans is under way, and Pistole said he hoped people would exercise sound judgment over the busy Thanksgiving holiday. A National Opt-Out Day is scheduled for Wednesday to coincide with the busiest travel day of the year. "Just one or two recalcitrant passengers at an airport is all it takes to cause huge delays
