Gah, I actually saw candy cigarettes for sale at a small convenience store about a month ago.  I thought those things had been banished to the edge of the village or something.

And I do remember the Cookie Crook...I think they have a wolf now.

I miss my 76' Chevy Camaro. I miss Space Coaster. I miss good Saturday morning cartoons. I miss the remote control (which I have not seen since I got married). I miss my childhood and my childhood friends and the fact they have moved away.

I also miss the security we once had in my town. I miss not locking my car door or in fact my front door, because you trusted your neighbors. I miss TRUST, these days I am always second guessing someone's motives.

It didn't use to be this way!

...that Astros uniform...it's like a bad accident...I can't look away...

acissej -> RE: What do you miss? (4/28/2006 7:37:38 PM)

My one and only car accident was when my little sister and I (I couldn't have been more than seven) somehow managed to start my father's Nova and crash it into this big, long rock wall that ran down our driveway.  My father loved that car.  Ooops.

But, back on topic, I really miss Strawberry Shortcake shampoo.   Siouxie's thread about childhood tv shows got me thinking about that.  Whenever I smell something a little similar to Strawberry Shortcake shampoo, it reminds me of being young and carefree, being on summer break and running through the sprinkler on our front lawn.  After we would get all gross and muddy playing with the sprinkler or Slip 'n Slide, I remember using Strawberry Shortcake shampoo to clean off.   I have an odd fascination with beauty products that smell like food--pumpkin pie body wash, buttercream frosting moisturizer, cinnamon bun lip gloss.  If only I had that shampoo, then I could really smell like a bakery.  Oh to dream.

Emperor1956 -> RE: What do you miss? (4/28/2006 7:41:56 PM)

In no particular order:

- My parent's 1959 Bonneville Convertible
- My 1972 Nova convertible with buckets in front and a HUGE back seat *grin*
- $.79/gal gas (if y'all didn't guess, I'm a bit older).
- unprotected sex

Be careful out there.

Ah, now this one...never got to dabble in it, since right around the time of my Blossoming and whatnot (and the realization that cooties were not necessarily a bad thing) is when AIDS decided to make its presence known.

I miss my '78 Camaro Z28 2-Door Coupe. I miss the ugly metallic orange it was and the air brakes my boyfriend in stalled. I miss that fact that I bought it for $800 and that my new car was $22,000 and not has cool.
