I miss my mom's spaghetti sauce and her stuffed artichokes.
I miss her voice, her smell  and the way she said my name.
I miss the way she could always make me feel better when I was sick.
I miss touching and hugging her.

OK...now I'm sad.

My humblest apologies!  I hit reply instead of quote.  It's early, you know.  So, we can pick up three, but we don't have three. We have one.  Semantics, I know.  Yada yada yada.

*grins at semantics*....... naw, I think you're right. I've been spending more of my listening time on the internet, as well..... there are some excellent sites. And buckle up over there, bad weather coming through.......

What are some things that you miss? A tv show, food, car, etc etc. And why?

I miss endless summer vacations.  I miss trees! LOL.  I miss my little Granny Goody.  I miss good cartoons.  I miss little boys in button ups, white t-shirts and buzz cuts.  I miss teachers that will send kids to the principle's office.  I miss people not peppering their speech with expletives, especially in public in front of my kids.  I miss drive-in movie theaters.  I miss neighbors that are neighborly.

I miss when the news didn't broadcast EVERYTHING our military was doing EVERYWHERE they were doing it.  I miss when kids could be kids and not worry about some sick fuck snatching them off the street or molesting them.  I miss when penny candy was a PENNY and not a nickle.

Beautifully said. I miss the same things. I also really miss my mother and $1.00 -1.25 per gallon gas.

- R

R, I didn't think I'd see the day when I got misty eyed thinking about $1.25 a gallon gas, but how wrong I was lol.... and like OnyxGoddess, said, sorry about your mom. Mine is still around, but it'll be a hard row to hoe when she goes.

Thanks to both you and Onyx. I lost her a few weeks ago after complications due to surgery. Mothers are indispensable..... Not only was she a good mother, but also a good friend. Spend as much time with yours as you possibly can.

- R

To those of you who have lost your mothers, my heart goes out to you.  I lost my mother April 3, 2005.  She was a dear, sweet lady, a great mom, and a wonderful friend and cheerleader to all of her children and my father.  So, I, too, miss my mother.  That's the most cherished and missed part of my life.

I also miss the quieter, simpler times, as was said earlier when kids could be kids, and they didn't have to be scared of people.  I also miss Saturday nights watching The Love Boat and Fantasy Island...

Thank you...to see the strongest, most intense, complete man I have ever known a broken shell of meat was very harsh at that age...I never went to see him in his open casket, I didn't allow myself to grieve for over a decade after his death and it sent me on a spiral of self-destruction, seeking and eventually awareness I would never have experienced with out him dying suddenly...even gone he has influenced me...

I miss the days when "common" sense, "common" courtsey and good manners were common.

off to cry now, thanks...

socalbbwsub -> RE: What do you miss? (4/29/2006 2:49:35 PM)

Well, I don't think I ever heard of Chinese jacks, but I wasn't much of a jacks player.  (man, I suddenly remember what stepping on one of those freakin things felt like).  I do remember Chinese jump rope.

QuietCuck2Onyx -> RE: What do you miss? (4/29/2006 7:26:42 PM)

i remember chinese jacks....i think.  those were those pointy things that you bounced the ball and tried to pick up as many as you could before the ball hit the ground.  yeah...they hurt too when you stepped on them in the middle of the night.  Smurfs comes on cartoon network now i think. fried bologna...my mom STILL loves that.

Today tho....i miss my clothes fitting over my hips! LOL.  Anyone remember the commercial "don't hate me because i'm beautiful".

MasterRobsalayna -> RE: What do you miss? (4/29/2006 7:31:50 PM)

i miss Steve Perry singing lead for Journey
i miss working for the Air Force (civilian)
i miss my dog Peaches (i dog sat today; Peaches has been gone for 20 years)
i miss Master (He's been away all day)

OnyxGoddess -> RE: What do you miss? (4/29/2006 8:22:55 PM)

I have to laugh at the chinese jacks thing.  Did anyone NOT step on them?  I also miss my clothes fitting over my hips (maybe Quietcuck and I need to go on diets!) LOL.  One thing I thought about today was ...I miss INNOCENCE.  When you were a kid and you just knew you'd live forever, summers weren't long enough, monsters were real, and that cereal for dinner was the best damn meal ever.

Daddysredhead -> RE: What do you miss? (4/29/2006 9:21:45 PM)

I miss CHiPs, too...  but "Ponch"  (Erik Estrada) is mine...  all mine...  [;)]

Onyx...  my kids and I still do the cereal for dinner thing sometimes, it's still so awesome.  Everyone grab a bowl, a spoon, the milk, and fill 'er up!  Even better is going back for seconds when you still have extra milk in the bowl...  hee, hee...  [:)]
