Actually RO I think people have pretty much proven that it is just the opposite. The majority of people do not want freedom they want safety and security (just look at all the subs and slaves here for an example) and the majority rule means that more people feel secure. (I believe the constitution basically says at one point that people will suffer as long as they can tolerate it rather than change what they are used to.)

As Gerry Spence says - We Have Become The New American Slaves! Our cages are gilded and our chains are golden but we are still slaves.

The problem in America is not the idea of democracy versus republic but rather that we have to many SHEEP who would rather be cared for than stand on their own. The slaves now outnumber the free by massive numbers and will continue to vote for things that promote their protection versus their freedom.

OP - If it was not capitalism then it would be something else. Doms have always looked for ways to become top Doms even if it means killing a few million people and destroying part of the world. It has happened all through history. Capitalism is just a less bloody way of fighting for dominance. (It does not scare the subbies as much as say blowing a few hundred people up.)
When capitalism fail we turn to war.
I suppose you could try to solve the worlds problems by killing all of the Doms. The only problem with that is that we fight back!!!

Billy Bob you have some issues.

Most subs and slaves live in the real world, not your fantasy land of being a Dom.

As far as fighting back, you might want to consider taking off 60 pounds and trying to work on pumping up those toothpick arms.

I'm curious rule. Are you capable of debating a point or do you just always take the easy way out and attack the poster. You might want to work on pumping up that toothpick intellect.

What exactly was there in his post that was worthy of debate?

That Doms rule the world and he is ready to show what a manly Dom he is?

I'm talking about your general style rule. You generally just attack the poster without making any attempt to debate a point. Very Beckish of you.

Of course, I expect no less.

If this post has nothing worthy of debate, then wtf are you posting on it for?

Oh, I forgot, you can make snarky comments from the safety of your parent's basement.

I'll say this for Rule, his comment to CountrySong that 'Most subs and slaves live in the real world, not your fantasy land of being a Dom' was spot on.   If subs and slaves really do want 'safety and security', as CS says, then they wouldn't be taking the risky step into the world of D/s.  This kind of view of subs is leagues away from reality.

Rule, that's a major flaw with Oblunder! He's not a Dominant! No wonder he's bowing all the time!
And look at that "Bigfoot" wife of his, you really think he tells Her what to do?

What I read in CountrySongs post was obviously very different than the majority here!

Many dominants in this lifestyle are rulers of their own household. They may even be rulers of their own business but nothing more. They are still slaves of the system. A submissive may well be a ruler of her own business too but within her household she makes an informed choice to be ruled by a surf of the system (her personal Dominant). I see a similarity here, to the bigger picture. The majority of any population that feel safe within the system will choose to be continually led. Put that same populations in a situation where they no longer feel safe and what we have is a possible revolution, or in a household situation, watch the submissive move on to new pastures.

What has any of that got to do with fantasy?

As far as jumping back with personal insults, that's just a form of bullying and speaks volumes about the person throwing stones.

I agree with you on the personal insults regarding CS and his partner.  We don't need that kind of comment.

CS's  mistakes, though, were to assume firstly, that relationship-subs and relationship-doms, respectively, act submissively or dominantly in society; secondly, to make simplistic assumptions about dominants' and submissives' motivations.  As a BDSM sub my own motivations, for instance, have little to do with safety.  Quite the opposite, in fact: they're much more to do with adventure.  And as a social being, I'm not a submissive - unless by 'submissive' we mean basically any human at all.

The implication that dominants are (and deserve to be) the ruling class and so innately superior to submissives is a bit dodgy as well.

Okay, I'm going to disect this post because I'm really not seeing what you guys are up in arms about.
quote:

Real One - One would be a fool to desire democracy over republic.
Actually RO I think people have pretty much proven that it is just the opposite. The majority of people do not want freedom they want safety and security

I think if any one of us turned round to Jo Blogs in the street and asked 'whats your idea of freedom' they would answer 'freedom of choice'. The truth is, our freedom of choice is very limited. There are many restraints put on our choices, mainly money and the lack of it in the working classes.
quote:

(just look at all the subs and slaves here for an example)

This was added to the last sentence and included the word 'majority'. All of my experiences with submissives who want to be in an ongoing relationship have been that they want someone else to be in charge. They want to hand over their freedom to one special person and they want to feel safe within those boundaries.
I'm not talking about safety from predatory animals and I'm sure CS wasn't either, but safety in the knowledge that rules, regulations and expectations are set in place.
quote:

and the majority rule means that more people feel secure. (I believe the constitution basically says at one point that people will suffer as long as they can tolerate it rather than change what they are used to.)

As Gerry Spence says - We Have Become The New American Slaves! Our cages are gilded and our chains are golden but we are still slaves.

Of course majority rule works. Its in our workplace, its in peoples religion and its even in the protocols of BDSM and of course this puts people in a safe place.
Nobody is saying that 'safe' isn't a bad thing but lets not be mislead into thinking that safety represents freedom. Freedom of the mind (such as BDSM) is restricted because of the masses inability to accept it.

quote:

The problem in America is not the idea of democracy versus republic but rather that we have to many SHEEP who would rather be cared for than stand on their own. The slaves now outnumber the free by massive numbers and will continue to vote for things that promote their protection versus their freedom.

An example of this is the forums that debate 'Wiki-leaks'. The majority of people are saying 'we don't actually want to know, so why are you doing this?. Why are you trying to frighten us? Why are you upsetting the Government?'
Some of us, on the other hand, are very interested to gain knowledge of what really is going on behind the scenes because piecing together truth is part of the journey to freedom of choice.

OP - If it was not capitalism then it would be something else. Doms have always looked for ways to become top Doms even if it means killing a few million people and destroying part of the world. What has any of this got to do with our lifestyle?

I would of thought the exclamation marks showed this as very tongue in cheek.

The last time I checked, the use of multiple exclamation points was bad style rather than proof that somebody isn't serious. Maybe if he'd used a winky instead I could buy that one...
