As a general rule, I'm not one for messing with my partner's hairstyle. In a relationship, I suppose I'd expect to be informed of any radical plans my partner has, but in general my partners have a host of really good reasons for managing their hairstyles (profession etc).

I will admit to a dark fantasy having a sub go bald for me... but I think it falls into the category of one of those creepy fantasies that some of us have but wouldn't actually do....

That isn't to say that I would regard another D's desire to shave his/her subs head as a creepy fantasy - the "creepy" tag is just what I assign my own thoughts of shaveage to.

Of course we do. I had a sub with hair down to her ass. It was inconceivably awesome and feminine as hell. Under no circumstances would I have cut it. As far as I was concerned, it already matched exactly what I wanted for her.

In a broader context, it strikes me as performance art. I know some see it as an expression of power, but to me that's merely a visible manifestation of that power - it doesn't change anything unless you require sacrificial confirmation that you'll be obeyed. Then again, I specifically want my women feminine and long hair is an expression of that - so it's possible I'm just extemporising an interpretation which fits my own preferences.

So He does not want me cutting it....EVER. He wants it long enough that He can wrap it around His hand at least once if not more times. Which is fine w/ me. I would like to grow it down to my butt anyway.

My girl is under orders to grow hers out. I like long hair on women. Including myself; mine is down to my hips.

You can only order this is you know it won't harm her self esteem. For some women, their hair style is very important. You also have to have good fashion sense to be able to tell if a new style will be flattering on her. Making her loathe her own reflection is not healthy, there's humiliation and there's abuse, best if you know the difference. Plus you have to know about her hair. Mine's butt length and straight. However if it were short, it would be very tight curls which is not flattering on me.

Both he and I preferred it red. However I'm not going gray, I'm going white. If I tried to dye it red, I'd wind up with pink. That isn't something he would think of, my hair stylist looked at it one day and decreed no more red dye.

I've always kept my hair long...who knows why. Just a preference. If I get with someone who wants it shorter, that's fine. If I hate it, I can only hope he hates it too...lol. Good thing it grows fast as a rule.

Shaved? I would admittedly balk.

I do, however, like hair on men.....I have no idea why they want to shave it all off....there's nothing more I love to do than a scalp massage, running my fingers thru his hair! Bald and stubbly just doesn't cut it for me.

On an unrelated note, the guy I worked with in Phoenix would shave himself bald.....he had the worst shaped head, and he looked God-awful! That was one guy who needed to have hair......I couldn't even look at him until it grew back. But I was nice when he asked me what I thought of it.......no sense in making him feel bad.

My hair was always my choice, apart from a few messed up attempts hairdressers did, a perm turned out disastrous (I looked like I stuck my finger into a socket), short also doesn't really work as it get's very curly and frizzy, wanted spiked hair and ended up looking like a ginger Curly Sue...

Long suits me best, I can always put it up at work but now that some annoying white hairs show at the temples (can't they hide somewhere at the back of the head, why the temples where everybody notices?), I'm considering to cut it and just wear it shorter as I possibly will have to colour it. Sod growing old gracefully, I plan to grow old disgracefully and fight it every step on the way, already put Botox on my xmas wishlist, to be sure, to be sure...

I give input on what I like and she pretty much listens, once I threatend to shave her head, and her attitude was "so what, it's just hair". Took the fun out of it for me....
Her hair is really thick and grows pretty fast.

I thank everyone for their comments, but it seems clear in general that #1 shave some sort of 'hard limit' at their hair style.ubs here seem to not understand the the dynamic of the loss of control a hair cut brings, and #2 that the responding subs seem to have some sort of 'hard limit' when it comes to their hairstyle.
