Entering an "extreme" BDSM relationship for one (1) year --- isn't really extreme.

Says who? A lot can be done with a would-be slave in a year. Someone making the assumption that the first year with me "won't be extreme" would have no business attempting to serve me in the first place. You're also conflating terms. Are you speaking of D/s or BDSM, especially as it's popularly consumed?

In a backhanded kind of way, you are suggesting that my initial premise is correct: LTRs tend to weed out extremes.

LTRs tend to weed out common marriages and general friendships, too. I'd say what kills "extremes" is the lack of personal extremity; when lauded and chased after ideals don't really match what's on the inside. Don't forget that time and routine can be a great bonder, too, and strengthen M/s relationships.

There are a lot of bitter malesubs, and the quote sounds like it came from one of them.

Agreed, the idea that one sex is better or worse is just a bit strange... Some people are warm and nurturing, some people are cold and calculating, some people are stupid and some are smart, got nothing to do with gender but with the people...
