No. Seriously. One of the real problems with Islam is how rigid and closed it is. From some "synod" centuries ago.

"On a personal level the Jehovah's witnesses tend to invade my space more often. "
How often have they threatened to take over the world?
How many of them have blown up airliners? Beheaded someone?

Mote. Log. Difference.

You seem to be forgetting that religions are not animated objects. It's the people and their desires for what they want those religions to be which makes them appear as they do.

My standpoint is quite consistent on this: any religious texts are written on purpose in a vague way in order to appeal to individuals needing a purpose. There is no core message in most of them just a load of vagaries. Your religion is no different to theirs it's just you got past the persecution it inspired earlier on.

I'm guessing you're not especially religious?

"Truck, I imagine there are a few somalians that are not looking for them from this fuckin country. "

Which is irrelevant.
What is relevant is that 0bama0 gave reason for Al Queda to discuss, say,: " What would this spineless infidel do if we took over the American Embassy in Soalia and sent a few infidels to Allah by cutting off their heads on the internet?" And reason for Muhammed Mohammed Hussein Muhammed to wonder what concessions he could get if he persuauded a few of his homeboys at the WTC Victory Mosque to take a grade school hostage and... you got it... send a few young infidels to Allah by cutting off their heads on the internet. Slowly.

His statements were an invitation to our enemies to take hostages and engage him as he negotiates from a position of apology.

Which is stupid.  So, you think we ought to mince how we talk, not say shit like 'Bring it on' and whatnot, because they have more military might than us?

Jesus, I ain't an appeaser.  I am surprised after all you guyses tough talk that you aint willing to play king of the hill if it gets 'you' killed.

Grow a fucking sack.

To believe in god is not particularly insane but to believe someone on earth certainly knows the will of god is.

Given that nobody knows the will of god the only conclusion to explain the existence of religion is that an earthbound human must have sat down one day to decide how every human being that came after should live their lives based on his or her morality.

The notion of a human being sitting down to dictate these things is very authoritarian and coincidently or not so are these religious texts.

Surely a text written by god through earthbound intermediaries does not need such crude tools as the threat of violence and suffering to get people to follow. Indeed why even write a text, just implant it in your creations base code. Does a calculator need to read it's instruction manual to know how to add up?

Like I said.

Religions are what they are, not what adherents make them.
Don't believe me, ask the Pope.

BTW, the first part of your post, isn't it insane to believe in a God who has not revealed Himself??

Preposterous.

That is far from the only conclusion nor the most reasonable one. Morality evolved, it wasnt dictated by an individusal or even an organization.

No because I've not revealed myself to that set of shelves I built the other week. What makes you so important that an omnipotent being needs to contact you? Isn't it more likely you are just the earworms in the composter or the bees in the hive? Sure on some unknown level you may be useful to god but this god doesn't have to recognise your individual efforts or declare his existence unless perhaps you feel the need to give every bee or earthworm a name and have a personal relationship with it for the things it does for you?

The difference between God and man is far vaster then between man and earthworm.

Creation implies purpose, implies even love,
Both imply revelation.

Your sense of morality is similar to mine but probably not exactly the same so I don't know what this evolution of morality is you are talking of. It hasn't evolved to the point where it is the same for both of us. I didn't talk of morality only the probably origins of religion, which doesn't have a lot to do with morality.

Of course, man and earthworm are both real.

I create things all the time that I don't particularly love, some are just a by-product of my existence. If god is that different to me that he doesn't then the two of us probably aren't going to have much in common.

You say that there is a bigger difference between myself and god than an earthworm and myself. How can you love that which you can't understand? An earthworm can't comprehend the existence I have and I'm supposed to expect this earthworm to love me, punish it if it doesn't or if I, a superior being, can't bend it to my will?

Humans are not exactly the same as giraffes either, wtf does that have to do with evolution?

Morality is a direct consequence of the evolutionary imperative for survival of the individual and the species.

Yes, my response was as poorly worded as your post was total nonsense.

You cant make someone something they arent when his record is in plain view.
Yes you (not you) can.   The belief that something can be done for the masses, without the power elite's consent, is the reason some people run for office, and others vote.   Obama would rule differently, if Republican obstructionism wasn't the rule of the day, and the bankers didn't own congress.  The man certainly has some great ideas, but he needn't even think them, without someone saying philibuster.

Now, he realizes he needs to pass a few legislations, and gives away the house in exchange...   A good negotiatior he does not seem to be; but I am quite certain, he is doing it to help those that can be helped.   That the house is half on fire isn't going to change with the continued obstructionism anyway, he probably figured.   M

You brought evolution into the discussion in the first place (check back) but what you just wrote I can dine off for months. How many of these '' should I use.

As always you weren't looking for a discussion.

No, Im looking for intelligent discussion, which so far you have shown no inclination nor ability to engage in.

You said:

Propostion: Your sense of morality is similar to mine but probably not exactly the same

Conclusion: so I don't know what this evolution of morality is you are talking of.

Your statement implies that for something to involve evolution the reults need to be exactly the same. My poorly worded response (which most people would understand the intent of anyway) addressed your fallacious reasoning.
